While in the area attending a basketball tournament for the weekend, we had a long wait until our next game and decided to attend a matinee to relax inside with air conditioning. Customer service was great upon arrival. We purchased tickets at concession for Moana live action. The stadium zero gravity seating was very comfortable and the sound system was impressive. I recommend when in the coliseum/ Gate City area. All that's missing is an actual menu with food to dine in. There are plenty of restaurants in the area to choose from that are local. read more

It's been a few years since I visited this theater, however A LOT has changed! And not in a good way. Because I was in the area, I googled "movie theater with dinner" and this particular theater popped up. And I remembered, that yes this theater does serve food to your seat. WRONG!!! Disappointed. I know it changed ownership from when it was first built but it has gone down hill. The painted job is gaudy and ugly, then inside the chairs are ripped, tattered and falling a part. I like that they have multiple ways to purchase tickets in person now. I do feel like they need some kind of security system or something since there are quite a few incidents that happen nationally in movie theaters. Just as a safety precaution. Better to be secure from the beginning than to wait until it's too late. Every movie theater is expensive, so the prices of everything is to be expected. Dropped in for a 1:15 showing of the film, Till. I've occupied this space a few times and appreciate the low traffic during the week. There was no trash upon entry to the space and auditorium. The theater kitchen was not yet open when checking in, so I ordered nachos and cheese. Though food options such as chicken tenders and bites are served. There are options for alcoholic beverages if you'd like to indulge during your trip. I enjoyed the film and being able to select my seat prior to assisted in not being seated too closely to others. The recliners are always a plus. I'm an avid Fandango user and suggest ticket purchases online for convenience and seating selection. read more

You can order tickets by walking up to the window or through the online site, Fandango. This location has a game room and seating in the lobby area. They have a better selection of fully stocked food and drinks versus other movie theaters within the same area...(coughs...Palladium). The movie theater was clean when we entered unlike other movie theaters I've been to in the area...(coughs...Palladium). I hate to throw digs at the other theater, but there is a major difference between the two. The seating was comfortable even though I wish the seats had tables to sit your stuff on versus my lap. Eh. This is a decent theater. Recliners are worn. The floors aren't kept up. The concessions are just alright. The movie was supposed to start at 3:30pm and didn't start until 3:36p. Plus there was a really loud vibrating sound coming from somewhere in the theater which was really annoying and distracting. Overall a decent experience but not a theater I'd necessarily recommend if you're looking for a luxury or even just a nice dine and recline experience. read more

The theater was not clean. Popcorn everywhere and drinks left in the cup holders. The staff did not have nerve to clean the theater between movies. The women's bathroom was just nasty. Wet floors, toilets, and toilet paper everywhere. It is ashamed that as a consumer we spend $25 or more per person for ticket and snacks that this theater management can't keep the theater a clean establishment. I usually go to The Grand 18 in Winston, but after eating dinner in Greensboro this spot made the most sense! We had an early dinner so we were at the theatre for our 7pm movie. I thought the place was nice and clean! The ticket staff were friendly. This theatre also has the Grand Luxe side which we did not try out. When our movie got out the place was swarmed with teenagers. It was like pushing through a crowd to get back to your car. I'll be back if I'm having dinner in the area! I suggest their movie club rewards program if you go to the movies at least three times a year. I've only been three times and with my birthday bonus I have gotten my money back and then some! read more

Probably the best theater in town. Fair prices compared to all the others in the area. Larger theaters than any other I know of. Always have the movies that everyone should have at the time of release. The reason for the 4th star rating is THE SEATS. We love this theater. Comfy seats and never crowded. Tuesday's are $6.25 for all movies. Their "Reel Rewards" programs offer good discounts. You can kill some time playing air hockey in the arcade area (my personal favorite). Some locals have concerns because this is not exactly the best area of town. But, please do not be dissuaded from seeing a flick here. I frequent this theater because not only is it the closest to my home, but it's upkeep beats out the rest in Greensboro. I've worked in a theater when I was in high school, so the prices don't bother me. I look at it as paying more for comfort and quality. During matinee hours, I go to the standard theaters since there are barely any patrons here. All the auditoriums I've been are usually clean and well maintained (no broken seats or arm rests). If you go on a weekend night, some theaters may be messy because there is a small window where staff go in and clean before the next movie starts. If there is a small crowd already seated before staff gets in, they usually leave it as is because it would mean kicking everyone out who already picked their seats. On date nights, I go to The Movie Tavern (formally The Luxe), where you pay more, the seats are much more comfy, and so much less of a crowd. You get to pick your seats at the time of purchase to ensure your placement. A great commodity if you're planning your date ahead of time. You have a wait staff that you can summon at the push of a button. You get a menu, where they serve basic bar foods, and alcohol! They have a slim variety of cocktails and beers. My date and I usually opt for this as a pregame. The prices aren't much different than a bar, so may as well get a drink while enjoying your movie. The only problems I have with this side of the theater is that the seats have a big armrest in between them, so no boo lovin' action can happen (cuddling you freaks), the wait staff are usually goofing off in the hallway, and that there is 18% gradutity is included to your dinner bill, which I'm not fond of. What if your server is garbage? I much rather have the option of deciding my tip. Maybe it's because there are some that don't tip. I dunno... read more

Large comfy seats!! Okay there's more that makes this theater one of my favorites. They have the 21+ section which is really nice and is my personal preference. This theater is rarely crowded, and I've never experienced any "incidents" or unpleasant crowds. The concession food is (as all theaters) over-priced, they do offer more variety in the 21+ section. This is a very convenient theater; every time I'm in town to see friends, and after lunch/dinner, we sometimes swing by here and catch a flick. The theater is easily accessible, and surprisingly every time I'm here there is barely a crowd. The stadium is a bit compact in here, I think fit about 100 per screening; but I think it's kind of nice, especially if it's not too busy you can pretend this is your home theater. I cannot speak too much of the amenities since I do not have the habit of getting drinks or snacks or popcorn in theater, but I can definitely say the facility in here is decently maintained; carpet is pretty clean, and so do the bathrooms. read more

This place has changed its name so many times and I think this is by far the worse. I gave the 2 stars due to now that it has been remodeled (theaters only) the "luxury seats" are nice however the food has been downgraded and shot. The Tavern (connected to the AmStar) which does all of their food no longer has bone in wings. If I'm paying almost $40 ($16.99 for 1 lb; we always order (2) ) for wings I expect that and not little bite size popcorn chicken in a stadium like container tray (were previously in to go box). The wings were a plus as when me and my husband would plan to go to the movies, we didn't have to worry about what we were going to eat because we knew we were getting wings. Family came into town and we raved about the wings to only be disappointed that they didn't even have them anymore (which we did not find out til after ordering). Now we to stop to eat before going as there is no other good options. Nachos are usually cold, and popcorn is always a hit and miss. I wish someone operated the theater that seems to care. read more

Well, for our Anniversary date we decided to go to the Grandluxe side of the theater which is for couples and upscale!!! First, the good!! The place was well maintained and very clean with leather chairs and premium sound and great screen. The service was spot on and they catered to our request when we wanted something!! Okay, bad was the hidden cost I felt wasn't need!!! First, we are were charged $1 for each ticket that we bought online and second they charge 17.5 % Gratuity for the waitress plus another $1 just to run my debit card!!! I don't mind tipping but let me decide what I want to tip based on the service!!! I ordered a beer on tap and the beer on tap was flat so I returned it and I ask the served what else and she didn't know!!! So, I ended up with bud light as that is all they had that she knew of!!!! The food tried to be upscale but nothing special for what your paying for!!! We ordered something from each section so we had a overall taste of what they have... I wasn't impressed that this supposedly came from a chef!!! I recommend that you eat across the road and then just have drinks and movie here!!! Yes, I would come back but only for the movie date part!!!! I really think they have a good idea but price wise they're going to have a hard to sell to people based on my experience!!! I'm not sure if I went to a different place than everyone else, but I did not have the experience that everyone else is recounting. The theater I went to didn't have moving seats and the room my movie in was tiny! One of the smallest rooms I've ever seen, in a theater. There's no way much more than 40 people were sitting in this room. It's as if there were no good places to sit here. I prefer to sit pretty much in the middle of the room when I'm watching a movie, but the theater was divided in half, so the only thing that was in the middle was a metal rail diving the place.. It was all just kind of strange. As most theaters, everything was super overpriced, and that's not reflected in my review. The bathroom was out of toilet paper, despite the fact that there were employees in there changing paper towels, and then briskly exiting, without checking any of the restrooms. Thank God there was someone in the stall next to me that slipped me some paper. I probably won't go back to this location. read more
