Went to go see Toy story 5 at this location and it was our first time visiting. This AMC is super old school and I love it! When you first walk up, you get to see old vintage cars and inside is like a blast from the past. We bought tickets there and online showed that it was an almost full capacity but when we got to AMC, they said that they had plenty of room. The movie was great. The seating was comfortable. I will say for my five-year-old It was a little tricky getting the seat to fully recline. read more

Pros: - Sit anywhere you want (literally no seat assignments) in the older smaller theaters. - Concessions are as good as other theaters - Plenty of Parking - Clean bathrooms!!!! - Movie = Excellent although it started a few minutes behind schedule Con: - Moviegoers' seating options. This location is not as updated as a couple other AMCs in the area (which have reclining leather seats). EDIT: I stand corrected. The larger theater rooms that feature new, popular films have updated seats. At the end of the day, I'm just glad there's still a theater (in the New Tampa area) to go to despite the havoc COVID wreaked. My kiddo and I will definitely be back to this theater or comparable one. :) read more

Haven't come to this theater in a while, but it's def been less time than my last review over 13 years ago, wow. Came here since I found some random free AMC movie vouchers. It had no expiration date. Of course they said it's not accepted and was probably from 2017. Like whatever. So I ordered two tickets from the kiosk. 3:30 PM Saturday tickets for Jurassic Park were $9.99 each. Online it said 20 percent off, bc it was earlier, but no rhyme or reason bc 1:30 time was 15 percent off. Now these seats for this theater are old, like the originals. Definitely dated. There's a special line for drinks and popcorn for members that's suppose to be shorter than the common line. It was fine. Regular popcorn was almost $10 but I knew I didn't want the large, and then soda was also the same price. I don't like that they just give you the popcorn and you can only add butter to the top. In Wesley Chapel they put the popcorn in the middle And the top. I'd def skip this theater next time. I like the chairs better in Wesley chapel, & like I said the popcorn. It's kind of hidden behind Aldi For those not familiar with this area and theater. read more

Have been coming to this theater since I was little and will always enjoy a trip to this AMC. I love the decor and I think they should stick with the current theme. I do think they could make some updates like replacing broken/worn down items and chairs. The staff has always been very friendly but the concession stand is hit or miss for me. Sometimes I am in and out with my favorite snacks and other times the line takes so long I'm scared I'll miss the start of my movie. Most theaters are pretty much all the same. Same decor, has IMAX, has Dolby, etc but this one has character. Ben went here during his college days and always was talking about how it was kinda designed like a Drive In movie with old cars, etc. He was happy to see that most of the decor was still there but there were a few things removed but he pointed the areas out and what was previously there. It really is cute how much he loves movies. I will say this is the first movie theater that I have been to in a really long time that you cannot pick your seats out ahead of time. Really did not like that part, so back to going early in hopes of getting your desired seats. Not a fan anymore. We are spoiled these days with being able to walk in right at the start time and know we have seats. read more

So this theater has been around for sometime. I have to say that it was clean and some of the staff was nice. I do wish the seats were a little more comfortable but overall it was a good experience. This movie theater seemed a bit dated to me? The standard layout and what not but the inside just seemed older, and I saw Barbie opening weekend. I actually liked the decor however in the lobby, it had a very festive, movie feel. Service was friendly and quick. read more

This is a nice place to watch a movie, they always have all the newest releases. Some of the theaters are nicer than others but overall, it's definitely clean and comfortable. They do have a couple of matinee prices for the first couple showings of the day, so you can save money on those. Friendly staff, you can buy tickets online or you can buy them at the kiosks inside the building. There's a huge parking lot so it's usually pretty easy to find parking for the movie. They also have food but of course it's a little bit pricey, but that's typical for a movie theater. read more

Its just ok. Its an older theater and in need of some updating. I don't like that they don't have assigned seats like the other theaters. The concession area needs to be maintained more often since the kids and parents of these kids don't make sure they pick up what they drop or throw things in the trash. read more

During the movie, teens yelled and threw a popcorn bucket into the crowd of people to disrupt everyone. The theatre was also a mess before the movie even started with spilled soda on almost every row when we entered the theatre. You only get 3 tiny chicken tenders for over $10 and the sliders were awful and tiny. This theatre is going really downhill. The bathrooms also had bugs in them. read more

Let me start by saying that this is the First time at the movies in a very long time. Once AMC took over the old Muvico, I thought at some point it would be renovated. Besides changing the sign nothing has been upgraded. Same old 50s style decor and a standard movie theater. This is a typical theater with old squeaky seats that have been there since it opened over 10 years ago and you have to show up 30 minutes in advance of the show to get a decent seat on an opening weekend. Very old school. Would be great to have a modern movie theater in my neighborhood (Wesley chapel/New Tampa) to have the comfortable recliner seating that you can get ahead and the seat is waiting for you as it's reserved. Hoping that happens in the near future. Until then, I'll go into tampa that does or watch it from my plush couch. read more

I thought you were made of sterner stuff, Megatron.. err Muvico. I've been going to Muvico (old name , Deal) since it opened in 1999. Over the last few years, it seems to transfer ownership frequently. IIRC, it was sold to Carmike circa 2014 and then AMC in late 2016. There have been some downgrades in the last few years: -- They took away the free popcorn flavorings. I normally dont order concessions at the cinema, but it was a nice touch. I guess the new electronic soda machines proved more profitable :( -The big thing. The box office outside the theatre has been shut down and now to buy tickets you have to go in line at the customer service station. They have turned a small tight space into 2/3 different lines depending on your level of Stubs rewards. As others have said, the 2 people working that are very talkative and inefficient. There is a kiosk there but it takes a while. Also, you cannot enter the stubs number using your phone, meaning your you have to memorize it or go to the AMC site on your phone and scramble to type it in. Very annoying On busy weekends the limited space means you are stuffed like sardines in a can and are awkwardly waiting while peope are entering and exiting --The seats are getting very worn and uncomfortable. It used to be a 50 % chance of finding a decent seat, now its less than 30. There are 2 main reasons for me why I still come here. 1) It is one of 2 theaters within a 5 mile radius of my house. The other, Studio Movie Grill is located inside University Mall and Im not a fan of the dine in concept. 2) Everyday from 4:00 - 530 pm, all 2D regular showings are $6.50. This has saved me a lot especially during the heavy summer period. This is an even better deal than the student discount or matinee prices of $7.70. I hope AMC begins listening to complaints and renovates this place as it will be 20 yrs old next year. -- read more

We've been coming to Highwoods for a while so I'm not sure how I got around to actually reviewing it after such a long time. After the nightmare experience at the AMC theater in Brandon, it's 100% clear that all theaters, even those owned by the same company are NOT created equal and the managers aren't put through the same training before they're released to run an unsuspecting theater. AMC Highwoods has a family feel atmosphere where you feel good bringing your kids. The parking lot isn't sheer pandemonium and the employees actually give a... well you know the rest. The manager actually exists and is visible on the floor, the concession employees, are eager to help you and greet you with a smile and enthusiasm. Your food doesn't sit in the pickup section getting cold while the person who picked it up is breathing all over it looking puzzled because he lost the order ticket. There isn't trash all over the floor and on the counter at the Concession stand. The floor in the theaters at Highwoods doesn't pull your shoes off your feet, the popcorn that the last moviegoer had isn't sitting next to you although the usher's said, "sure you can go in, it's clean." If you like AMC and don't want your regard for their theaters and staff to be lowered, come to Highwoods, you won't regret it read more

Had to see Dune on the big screen and came to AMC Highlands 20. I haven't been to the movies since Covid so this was a treat. AMC Highwoods was extremely clean!! My hubby and I came to a 3:00 pm showing and got the matinee price Plus Senior!! $6.00. The staff was so friendly and professional. Of course what would a movie be without a tub of popcorn and a coke? I ended up getting Raisinets so complete the experience. The bathrooms were spotless, the theatre itself was clean and seats were comfy. I absolutely enjoyed coming here and will return for Dune 2 and probably a few others in between. 5* all the way. read more

I will start by saying that I like AMC theaters. I haven't been to Highwoods 20 for years. Last time was maybe 15 years ago with my then young kids. It's not in my neighborhoods so I'm not usually around this area. I wanted to see the movie Judy and it was playing here... so we went. The theatre has a nice entrance with antique cars overhead and a little feel like a movie studio in my opinion. I can't review the food, as I don't usually one to buy any. The cost of movies are high theses days and I feel it's a shame to pay few $ for little popcorn... As for the seats... I like the recline seats. If I pay to see a movie and leave the comfort of my home, it better feel cozy and comphy . The theater seats have not been upgraded to to recline ones. As for AMC in general, they offer a stub premier for 15$ plus tax per year. It's a good offer if you are a movie goer like myself. You can download their app and buy the tickets on line, and you don't have to pay the convenience fee. You also get a free movie ticket after ten movies as far as I recall. read more

A movie theater in our neighborhood that we frequent often. Always liked the old car decor but this move definitely needs a renovation! I don't know how but I often alway pick a broken seat! The seat either leans forward, the back of the chair doesn't lean, or it just has so many spills on it. If I have the time to drive down to AMC veterans more often than not, I would definitely skip this theater and go to that one. read more

An amazing experience ! Robert B. Who took our tickets was phenomenal. He was kind, polite, warm hearted, and helpful. He really went above and beyond his job. You can tell he loves what he does and this theater. Every employee should b like Rob. As others have stated, it's very outdated..however it has a retro feel so it kinda makes sense. The theater was laid out nicely and VERY CLEAN and everyone was kind and helpful. One "regular" drink was $6 and medium popcorn was $8-$9 but tell them to butter it. This place has really gone down hill. It has been completely trashed and beaten up by thousands of customers, and not very well-maintained by management/staff. Maybe I've become somewhat of a theater snob with the luxury movie theater experiences that are popping up more and more, but between the sticky floors, random broken seats, random squeaky seats, claustrophobic-tight seating, and stale air...well, just ick. I don't blame the facility completely because I've seen how poorly a good portion of theater goers treat this place (like it's their personal garbage bin), but this place needs a severe overhaul. Tonight I was stuck between the restless child in the squeaky seat, and young adults who could not STFU for more than 3 minute intervals. I only been to cinema twice a year since the the DVDs are so convenient. I only gone to movie if I feel it is worthy to be on big screen or group of friend want to do it. During the Christmas Day first show usually is the best while many people are just wait up and open the gift. Not too many of people in the seat and there is plenty of selection where you want to seat. We are watching the stars war 3D movie with good technology. I can see now the movie making is in the 4K technology. This is very nice. The 3D glass also improved and easy to wear and no headache. I cannot believe this cinema is now belong to carmike group since my last visit. There is no pre commercial before the schedule showing. Everything commercial or preview is after the schedule time in the ticket. Which wastes at least 20 minutes before the feature movie. The popcorn and drink is pricy mark up. Seat is ok but they need to lubricate the squeaking sound of the rocking chair. read more

Bought tickets for the movie "Land of Bad", bought popcorn, candy and drinks. The movie stopped at the most climatic scene. No one came to fix it so another patron went to get a manager, Gavin. Gavin did not inquire where in the movie it stopped and just started it up again. We missed about 10 minutes of the most climatic part of the movie. After it ended supervisor Tobias offered us passes to come back and watch it all over again. I just wanted to see the part we missed. I don't want to spend another $40 on snacks, an hour driving time and 1.5 hours watching something I'd already seen. My experience was completely ruined. AMC should have the capability to show an entire movie. The movie was soooo good, except we don't know what happened in the middle. read more
