Before the show, I make sure to arrive early and indulge in a glass of wine at the bar. It's a delightful ritual that sets the tone for the evening. Austyn and Martha, the bartenders, are always there to greet me with my usual glassware, ensuring that I have everything I need. Their friendly banter and Martha's infectious laughter create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Austyn's expertise with the shaker is truly impressive. Even though I'm just a wine enthusiast, but watching him craft a cocktail is always a delightful experience. It's like witnessing a culinary masterpiece in action. Martha, on the other hand, seems to know everyone. She speaks to everyone, even when she should probably be doing something else, and engages on a personal level. When she's not there, I hear people ask for her by name and get all mopey when she's not around. You don't get that kind of response by being mediocre. Overall, this is always a warm and inviting experience (unless there's a kids' movie release, which is not their fault). The fellow that is waiting on customers behind the upstairs VIP counter. I've never seen anyone so angry to be at work here.... Until today. I tried to be extra nice and give compliments to him, but he wasn't very nice nor kind at all. He had a nose ring, young and tall. Although, he did his job, He has no business serving customers due to his disturbing attitude. I'll say he was angry. Frown on his face, easily irritated and I dared not ask him for food. Just asked for my free small bag of popcorn and by the time he beat the dog gone bag up, slamming it in there, I wasn't hungry anymore.

The seats were very plush and comfortable. The screen and sound system were state of the art. The problem was that there were roughly 6 rows of seats that were so close to the screen that it was impossible to enjoy the film. Audience members were actually getting nauseous during various scenes. If you are forced to see a film here, be sure to use the back row, but it still may not be far enough away.

Being very unfamiliar with this area, it seems like a rather remote location with a bunch of luxury apartments where most likely the tenants work from home, and the corporate buildings would be something such as google, etc. IMAX seemed to fit right in. Since it was a Saturday, I was a little hesitant since the parking arm was down, and there wasn't a booth. Finally after seeing it open for a delayed time, I drove on in and found a spot out front, although the garage visitor entrance was right in front. After checking in with a human at a table setup, I had to check in on an ipad which takes your photo (which I'm not a fan of) but the security/desk lady was really nice and helpful, directing us where to go. Up a flight of stairs, the theater was to the right, and it was a nice one. I know the middle seats are ideal for this kind of place, but I stayed off to the end as I prefer and it was still easy to view. This was the kind of theater where you can feel the floor shake in certain scenes which added to the experience. Not the fault of this theater by any means, this movie was long, but I'm glad I go to see it on IMAX (and free). Unfortunately, there was zero food/beverage as other people experienced a spread at their screenings; that was not the case here and I was starving and unprepared. My favorite workshops are the ones run by Brendan Constantine; he's a genius and outstanding teacher. I would say that one of the employees recently had a bit of an arrogant attitude and talked down to me when I was in the bookstore after one of Brendan's recent workshops. She may want to work on that, particularly when she's talking about the poetry of my close friends and former classmates from my MFA program. You never know who someone may know. That aside, I highly recommend Beyond Baroque as I have been coming here for decades and it truly is a wonderful place for creative writers.
