The reclining seating and cleanliness have me giving this Muncie theatre a 5-star review. We went on a weeknight so it was dead (and very clean...everywhere) and the theatre wasn't busy at all. I would have liked to have a seat not sitting next to someone, given that the theatre was empty and full of seats, but these were the only options that were given when we paid for our tickets (kinds thought that was weird?). That would be the reason for the 4-stars. We didn't get concessions but they do have the freestyle Coke machines so that's a plus! Thanks to Yelp, I'll check out movies on Tuesday night for just $5! Also, if you are a major movie-goers, subscribing to the AMC STUBS is a great value! read more

The Marion AMC closed & now as of the last 4 months. I go to movie at least twice a week. How many times people came in 45 minutes to a hour into the film. Talking very loud like a film has not been playing. Just adults who don't know how to act in a theater. I have been threatened many times. My last time I filled AMC on everything in corporate. But they are only using AI now. I was going to try to get the manager someone cause the whole theater was screaming at kids who walked in 40 min into obsession. All of them high and everyone started yelling at them. I left and got body checked then threatened the whole way out to beat my a** and calling me gay hate names. The manager didn't do 1 thing but again just look confused. She could have walked them in like other theaters do. I mean DO NOT GO TO THIS THEATER. The amount of fights that are happening then they will use your A list member. I was the only one they had a name of. So I have horrific footage of it all. Which I will be posting on Reddit. Because people taking Children here. Think twice they will NOT PROTECT YOU THERE. I have seen so much in these last 4 months. Me & my partner & mother took a 3 week break. Hoping AMC would protect the people coming. Fights are happening 5 to 10 times a week. & it will only get worse & worse. You sadly can't trust AMC to protect you or your kids. Some of these people fighting is all they know. & if AMC did walk through this would happen far less. Called 5 different theaters & all of them do Walk throughs! Don't let film be ruined for you here. Just go Emagine Theater or Regal or the best DraftHouse. They have someone outside each theater. & if your late your not aloud in. That's sadly what has to happen because AMC only cares about trying to survive before they go completely bankrupt. But these smaller theaters Make Sure this does not happen. It's incredible the amount of people I have talked to who have told me insane stories about AMC Muncie. The theater is gone now Don't waste your time or energy. We always order our ticket through the mobile app so no standing in lines, sometimes we even order popcorn and drinks before we go and it's always ready when we get there. They always have up to date options for movies. We love the reclining seats also. read more

I would give this a 3.5 stars if possible. The theater if fairly clean. The reclining seats are starting to feel worn out. I've had a seat with cracked leather and a seat that no longer reclined. I'm not sure that the IMAX screen is worth the extra money. This is not my favorite theater, but I will most likely come back. The free large birthday popcorn with their rewards program definitely doesn't hurt. read more

This theater hosted the 50th Birthday Bash for a friend over the weekend and they went above and beyond. Mike Nason, Alexis, and the whole staff at AMC Muncie 12 were great and we are very thankful! Paid $16 for large supposedly refillable bag of popcorn. At 8:22 PM went to get said refill & saw the crew was cleaning up. As in dumping all the popcorn. When I asked for a refill was told, "uh, sorry we are all out. " now less that a hour here where 2 popcorn makers that were each half full. This means they decided to get a head start in the cleaning up and threw away the popcorn. COVID is not an excuse for poor service. I think I should have been given a refund or a free popcorn for my next movies. Totally unexplainable. Very disappointed and the "sorry we are out" when the movie is o Ky half way over is beyond unacceptable. I'm interstate in speaking to a manager. read more

With all due respect to the person who had to enforce the rule, you were simply doing your job. My girlfriend and I went to go see Deadpool and Wolverine (we are both 16). My mother was accompanying us to give them the okay to let us go watch the movie. I don't understand how you are marketing a superhero movie, which teens will want to see, and your audience is required to be 17+ with ID or to have someone 21+ to accompany them. I understand the age limit part, but having permission from the guardian and still not allowing us to watch the movie is odd to me. Getting permission from a guardian has the equivalent effect as having them with you throughout the whole movie. read more

I just went to see Spider-Man no way home with my family and this Movie theater was the best place to go kinda wanted to bring in a blanket but now after seeing this movie I have definitely have quite a lot of questions about the villains and their powers and Tom holland 10/10 Spider-Man very good movie 5/5 stars would recommend this theater read more

I don't ever rate movie theaters, even though I am a weekly regular. The reason I changed my mind is the new "AMC STUBS" program. For $20 a month I can see 3 movies a week. Honestly if you love going to the movies like me, more than worth it. Yeah it's tempting to pay for another program that's $10 a month, but here is why you do AMC Stubs instead. 1st, you can reserve your seat to any show in advanced, the other pass program, you can't. That alone for me is worth paying $20 a month. Also as you see movies you gain points to redeem for credit to take someone else. Next the staff, everytime I have a problem & talk to the staff they fix it. Also they had a recent remodel so the seats are leather reclining seats, very comfortable. Great theater & look forward to coming back, ALOT. read more

Showplace 12 is just an okay multiplex, there is nothing particularly impressive about it, but the staff is very friendly, they do a great job of keeping the place clean, and their prices are more than reasonable for a first run cinema. Tickets are around $2 less than you'd pay in Indianapolis or Noblesville (Showplace 12 is $8.99 for adult evening tickets), but concessions are basically the same price as Indy. I usually make the drive to Indianapolis to get a better experience with larger screens, better sound systems, and nicer seating, but Showplace 12 is hard to pass up on a Tuesday night when tickets are only $4.49 (if you have a Stubs Premier card, keep in mind you have to buy your tickets at the theatre to get the discount), so most Tuesdays I will come here to watch films I didn't feel like driving to Indy for or to watch a film I loved for a second time. Showplace 12 was built by Kerasotes in 2005 and it is really starting to show its age now. Most of the rooms have smaller sized screens than what you'll find in modern multiplexes and the seats are a bit worn out and stained as they have never been replaced. AMC has made a few upgrades to this theatre over the years, they've added 4K projection, upgraded sound, and Coke Freestyle machines, but the place could really use a renovation at this point, new seating is an absolute must, larger screens and a new sound system would be nice too. read more

New to Muncie from California. This theater is the best theater we've been to for years. Great selection of current movies, beautifully designed individual theaters with incredible seating. Snack bar prices are almost doable with nice selection of snacks. We love Tuesdays....!!!! Almost every movie is $5 each. Every family may now be able to take all of them to see movies in big theater. What an experience brought back to affordability! Thank you AMC for enhancing out new life here in Muncie. read more

Went to see the latest mission impossible movie and the theater absolutely ruined the movie for me. I almost walked out and asked for my money back. The projector was sooo dim that it was difficult to make out what was going on half of the time, especially in the intentionally dark scenes. Even my wife commented on how hard it was to see the movie. This was in theater 5. Not only was the image dim, the resolution looked like an old 480i pictures we used to watch in the eighties! Gut line to purchase tickets was long and took a bit of time to get through it. possibility one of the cashiers was new. The main area was clean. The prices for food, popcorn, and drinks are outrageous as to be expected. The movie theaters were clean. The recliners were great, but bit of a struggle to get out of. It's a big multiplex with stadium seating. It's clean, the workers are very attentive and friendly. On the downside, it is pretty pricey for Muncie unless you go during the daytime. Also, it doesn't have very great selection of snacks. Still, the sound is pretty good and the seats are comfortable. Nevertheless, it doesn't have the charm of the old small-town theaters that can be found in surrounding towns. It certainly doesn't have the charm of the old movie palaces that were once in downtown Muncie. Particularly, the Rivoli--that place was magical--all-night Star Wars marathons! read more

My husband and I love going to movies here, especially since they remodeled and upgraded the seats. The only 2 reasons I gave 4 stars instead of 5 are kind of nitpicky reasons, but they are my reasons so... #1) Prices of food and drink. Now I know, I know. THIS is where they make their money, but it's getting a little ridiculous when a pretzel is $20. And #2) (which is my main reason for 4 stars) is that I was surprised to figure out that the seats in imax and the seats in the regular theaters are different and, in my opinion, the imax seats are not as comfortable as the seats in the regular theaters. I feel like if we are paying more money to watch the movie in imax that we should get the better seats! I actually heard the couple next to us talking about this at our last movie and the woman said the same thing! Overall though, great place. read more

The renovation is nearly complete (only the bar and lounge are yet to be completed); and now Muncie is able offer one of the best movie viewing experiences in Indiana. The new seats and clean theaters make for a remarkable upgrade to the already strong customer service. Additionally the screens, projectors and sound equipment are all in top notch quality, unlike some recent visits to other movie theaters throughout Indiana. The only thing that stinks is: with this cinema house being the only one in Muncie it is limited only to the most popular of mainstream titles with only a rare and limited period of screen time for anything slightly below the mainstream radar. (At the time of this review:) films on screens throughout the world that won't be in Muncie: Loving Vincent, Lady Bird, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Last Flag Flying, The Killing Of A Sacred Deer, The Florida Project, Battle Of The Sexes, etc. I wish this university town could at the least motivate the only theater in town to dedicate single screen to these 'other' titles. read more

Awesome experience tonight watching Thor - great picture - JBL sound was crystal clear - seats very comfortable - staff did a nice job - very clean. Only negative comment parking lot was very slick and not treated for the normal winter weather here in Indiana - much cheaper to treat parking lot and avoid someone falling and getting hurt. read more

AMC is a great theater for movies, reclining chairs, and state of the art movie equipment. I gave them 3 stars because, for a family of 4, a regular popcorn and 4 regular sodas cost $32. Popcorn shouldn't be that expensive and if I'm going to pay over $5 for a soda, someone should be getting it for me. I shouldn't have to stand in line to fill my own soda. read more

Very disappointed and will not return. After choosing our available seats from the screen while purchasing the tickets and entering the theater, I find popcorn, salt and candy wrappers all over my seat. Oh well, right? So, I clean off my seat brushing the mess & trash onto the floor, along with the other trash present. Then the first of 25 minutes of commercials & previews begin. That's when we realized that the volume level of the theater audio system was so extremely loud that my ears actually hurt during the entire movie and it took 2-3 hours afterwards for the ringing in my ears to stop. That was even holding my fingers over my ears during the entire movie, ready for the extreme level increases. So, on our way out, I was wanting to express our disappointing experience to the staff or management. The problem was, I couldn't find one employee or security personnel on our way out. The only people visible were other patrons. The final straw was when trying to leave the building, we found the entire main exit intentionally & illegally obstructed forcing customers to travel a farther distance to a completely different remote exit. So, three strikes you're out AMC. read more

It's something in Muncie that I will never forget. I am from a small town and Muncie was the closest "big town" where I could find some shopping and entertainment. I have been going to this theatre ever since I was allowed to go on dates. ha It has been a place of great memories and great film. I'm a little saddened by the fact that tickets are now $10 a pop. Really?! I can't blame this particular theatre, though, because that seems to be the case everywhere. It's pretty large and has a huge parking lot - so no worries in that department. read more

Tonight January 6, 2016 I chose to treat my cousins to a movie, the new Alvin and the chipmunks to be exact. When we were trying to leave my 10 year old downs cousin would not leave. This is your standard AMC. It was renovated in 2017 - 2018 so all the theaters have recliners. Of course, it's somewhat expensive. A standard movie ticket, drink, and popcorn will set you back about $20. Or if you purchase an iMax 3D ticket. I always enjoy the iMax theatre here. I will state one minor complaint about this place: it's always overwhelmingly busy on the weekends. The complex is huge, but it's the only theatre in Muncie, I believe. So if large crowds aren't your cup of tea, I recommend Netflix, iTunes movies, or Redbox, my friend (or visit on weekdays). read more

This theater adequately checks the boxes of most theaters. It's important to note that their chairs are comfortable, and their staff are all very pleasant, informative and approachable. My olnly critique is regarding their Descriptive Audio option. I have recently hopped aboard the Descriptive Audio train, as before my friends or family would quietly dictate to me what was going on onscreen as I am blind. However, per my own experience and the experience of other blind attendees, this theater routinely doesn't have a satisfactory DA presence. In most cases, the audio from the film will be played through the headset without a narrator. In other cases, no sound at all comes out of the headset. It pains me that this theater doesn't seem to want to fix this repeated issue, as I know for a fact that several blind movie-goers have brought their business elsewhere. I love movies, and I will not stop going to them, but if AMC 12 doesn't rectify their inconsistent-at-best DA presence I will no-questions asked go to a different theater. AMC 12 is a very average theater, utilitarian if you will, but if you are blind they fall miserably short. read more
