Our favorite movie theater. They have ETX theaters where the sound system is so intense it's makes the seats vibrate. Best for action packed movies. All seats are large, comfy, and leather. There's enough space all around that you barely see the head of the person in front of you. Our favorite spot is the sections off to the sides with 4 larger seats and a table. It's conveniently sectioned off from the regular middle seats, so our daughter can roam our little section without bothering anyone or blocking anyone's view. read more

An okay movie theater. It had a big makeover when it moved to the new building closer to the mall, and it is a big improvement. The seats are a smooth non-cloth material, I am not sure if they were real leather or not but I didn't find them as soft and comfortable as more plush cloth material seats in other theaters. The concessions stand staff was friendly and nice, but not equally trained. The girl I asked for a frozen yogurt didn't know how to operate the frozen yogurt machine, and I had to wait for her coworker to do it. The serving size seemed small, it didn't even fill the little bowl they gave it to me in, it seemed to take up 2/3 of the bowl at best. I'd suggest using smaller bowls since otherwise it looks like the customer is getting skimped of what was supposed to be the right serving size. The frozen yogurt, on the plus side, tasted awesome. My friend bought a hot dog and said it was great. The theater itself was very clean. The bathrooms were spotless. They have those nifty air blade dryers. I always like and prefer those, they are much faster and more energy efficient. read more

Came for a movie on a Wednesday night. I realize it's the middle of the week and probably pretty slow. The bar was closed though. Inexcusable. The guy selling tickets said its a slow night so they won't open it at all. Why even have it if you can't justify opening it?! Boo! read more

Went in to see a movie that was only playing in that theatre at a convenient time. I expected it to be like any other theatre, fine, but nothing special. At first, it seemed like the place was empty (which was good). I went up to the concession stand and ordered a medium diet coke and a small popcorn. I was given a medium diet coke and a medium popcorn. Once they realized this, they tried to take it away from me, and give me a small, but I thought it'd be easier just to give them an extra dollar. Apparently not. Two "employees" and fifteen minutes later, they gave me my change back (I'd paid with a five). Then, we went into the theatre and were the only two people there. Slowly, the theatre started to get really crowded. One person sat right next to me, so I went on the other side of my husband. Someone sat right next to him, and right next to me, leaving us surrounded. Apparently the people who go to the movie theatre there were never taught movie theatre etiquette: to leave one seat "in between" you and another group, if at all possible. Chain movie theaters... but this is the newest one in the area, I love the Coke fountains that let you pick your flavors (YUMMY! Raspberry/Vanilla diet Coke is my favorite!). The theaters themselves have comfy seats and good layouts. The staff is friendly and efficient. No complains here... and we will be back, time and time again. read more

Pros: The place was decently clean with friendly staff. The seats were comfortable and leather. Cons: The seats don't fully recline like some other theaters. The popcorn is bagged and left in a warmer for who knows how long, so the batch I picked up tasted stale. Don't even bother going here, it's actually complete trash. I rarely attend the theater, but when I do, I go to AMC Randhurst 12 because it is nearby my residence. Up until today, every experience I have had at this theater was pleasant enough, however, today was quite the opposite. Today, the popcorn machines were entirely out of order, and therefore much of the novelty of attending a movie theater was taken away almost immediately upon entering the establishment. It is already problematic enough that movie theaters have taken to a pattern of charging their customers up the ass for your basic array of theater snacks, but to not even have the most popular snack available for customers who were willing to pay for the outrageous ticket and food prices? Ridiculous. Additionally, upon purchasing pretzels at the food kiosk, I was INCREDIBLY disappointed that the staff was rude and blatantly ignored me several times as I stood waiting at the register to be served for about 7 minutes. There was one other individual in front of me, and so it was understandable that perhaps staff were working on completing other customers' orders. However, I wasn't even acknowledged-- not once. I was walked past several times by THREE different employees, not even ONE of them turning to me to apologize for the wait or say "I'll be with you in just a moment." As someone who has worked in retail for 4 years, I can tell you up front-- that is what shitty customer service looks like, and I'm not even sorry to be saying it. Anyways. Once I was finally graced with the attention of an employee, I requested mustard, which was to come with the pretzel I JUST ordered. Two staff members then proceeded to putz around and attempt (to no avail) to squeeze mustard from a bottle into 2 small containers for me. This went on for another 10 minutes because of how difficult a feat it was to transfer mustard from a bottle to a small plastic container-- which no doubt, should have already been pre-made. I didn't even get all the mustard I ordered because these CLEARLY intelligent individuals were incapable of squeezing mustard into a cup. I'm no professional, but It shouldn't have taken me nearly 20 minutes just to get ONE cup of mustard. Honestly, I wouldn't even be giving this theater 1 star, if it hadn't been for the few previous experiences I have had here. read more

This is an addendum to my prior reviews. I always suspected that despite all their highly touted amenities they built this place on the cheap in the ways that matter. Now I have proof. A friend and I went to see J. Edgar in #6 the other night. The low frequency rumblings bleeding through the walls from the ETX screen (#7) showing Immortals was nothing like I have ever experienced before. It was incredible. It was so distracting. I've seen a lot of movies in a lot of theatres and never have I heard such bleed-through. It really interfered with our ability to enjoy our movie. I complained via their web form (more about that below). Today I got a call from a theatre staffer. He said he was sorry but the problem was that the movie next door was just too loud. Do you mean someone on your staff turned it up higher than standard, I asked. No, it was just too loud. I don't understand, I said, if you have to turn their movie down then they aren't getting what they paid for either. No, no, it was more like a scheduling error. They can't put a quiet movie next door to the loud one. Do you all understand the implications of what he said? AMC is admitting they built the place too crappy with insufficient sound isolation. Built properly, it wouldn't matter if you put a quiet movie next to the loud one. And keep in mind, just putting a loud movie next door doesn't solve things unless both movies are loud at the same times. Sound travels both ways with equal efficiency so if one loud movie happens to have a quiet moment during a loud period next door, you're gonna hear it. --- About the web form. I'm glad they have one now. It used to be if you went to the AMC web site and wanted to comment or complain they really did NOT want to hear from you. I'm serious. They asked that you write your complaint in a snail mail to a PO box in Atlanta. (AMC HQ is in Kansas City.) A little Googling revealed that that PO box was also the place other big companies had you send complaints. So obviously just some customer placating PR firm. Like I said, they really did NOT want to hear from you. So the web form is an improvement, even if it does just get routed to the theatre in question. And no I am not a big complainer; only once before for Barrington when the show stopped several times. AMC generally gives pretty decent presentations. read more

Went to see a movie at 8:30, which was sold out (shame on us for arriving last minute for a movie that just came out), so we decided to stick around the area & get food & drinks before returning for the 11:00 show. We were told we could not use the groupon we had purchased that day and that it would be mailed to us, even though I remember reading the fine print, which said we could use the smartphone app & barcode to redeem our groupon. Sure enough, I checked again, and in fine print, it did say that the groupon would be mailed to us. The fine print I had read earlier was in the description before I purchased the groupon and it must be different once the sale goes through; not sure why. I practically whined to the manager that we had been there two and a half hours earlier to see the same movie & waited around to see the next show. He was pretty sympathetic because he ended up giving us two tickets for free & said the same problem has happened before (shame on groupon). This really made my night because we were really bummed when the show was sold out at 8:30. A couple things that bothered me about this theater is the lack of parking; there should be spots in the garage, but it's really inconvenient to walk all the way from the garage to the front door, especially in freezing weather. Also, the first time I was here, I took a large cup & filled it with water, but they still charged me full price for the cup as if I had filled it with a soft drink. read more

Looks like there are only two reviews for the new Randhurst, which is a brand new theater and establishment! It's not even the same building. Compared to other theaters in the area, like Northbrook AMC, the new AMC Randhurst is more comfortable, modern, and a vast improvement. Randhurst prices, as of this writing, are comparable to most theaters in the $9-10 range, $10 per adult, $8 for a matinee. Woodfield and Deer Park are only a dollar cheaper. You won't find cheaper pricing outside of a budget theater, unless you sacrifice stadium seating, i.e. enjoy your view blocked by someone's head. The decor is attractive, stylish, and without decades of wear. You can read famous movie lines decorating the wall while you wait in line-- or you can buy your tickets at the kiosks or online. The foam recliner chairs are roomier and higher than average, so you don't have to shrink in your seat to lay your head back. The seats don't fold up, so you can set your stuff next to you. I have a pregnant friend who loves the seating. If she likes it, then you know it's comfy. There are booths of attached seats in the left section for parties of friends to sit together, along with a table for your food and drinks, which is fun! The screens are standard size. Clean bathrooms with Dyson dryers, and in the women's a separate, mirrored alcove and stools for freshening up, so you don't have to fix yourself up over someone's shoulder. I've been there several times, and service is polite at least, if a little clueless and slow sometimes. Service slows for no apparent reason, e.g. when scooping ice cream, so come early. The food and drinks are typical fare: pretzels, frozen yogurt, chicken tenders, some soda and candy, etc., along with some unique items, like cheese steaks. They added a cake display too, and now you can pick up popcorn or nachos without waiting. They list the calorie count in their menus, so that's...interesting? Probably shouldn't be eating there if you're counting calories, lol. Best thing is no crowds! All in all, a good experience! Come early and enjoy! read more

I went there last night and my popcorn was dry and tatsed like card board the guy dumped it and gave me a new scoop from the same bin again garbage...so i ask a manager for a new one and I get a dirty look then I get my drink 80 percent ice. So long story short dont go to this amc old orchard is way better nicer staff to. read more

This AMC is well staffed and friendly service, the bathrooms are clean (and green - toilets are water saving), love the soda machine which gives you a lot more options and refill it yourself, the leather seats are bigger and more comfortable, a bar where you can buy alcoholic drinks and beer and take it with you in the theater, more food options (still pricey but at least you have more variety). It is a smaller theater than the one in Woodfield but it means lines are shorter, too. I only go to the ETX theater whenever I go here. Sure, I will pay a little more for it but the movie experience is worth it with better and more speakers around you. read more

This theater is almost comfortable - the seats at least in the back do not recline. But our movie was listed to start at 1:30 (of course many many ads came before that since we arrived at 1:20). Then we saw 25 minutes of previews!!! The feature did not actually start until 1:55. Ridiculous, and most of the previews were soooo loud and violent, and were things I would never consider seeing. Next time we'll get our tickets in advance and arrive 15 minutes after the posted start time. How irritating. read more

I came here with friends (all over the age of 25) and one of our group didnt bring ID so they wouldnt let us watch the movie. Dissapointing, but that wasnt even the problem. They then wouldnt give us a full refund. Only partial money back??? On top of not getting to watch the show?? Theres better AMC locations out there. read more

Fancy, are we? Long gone are the days of going to a movie theater and having your shoes stick to the floor, cramped uncomfortable chairs, and feelings of being ripped off for a movie that you hardly enjoyed. AMC Randhurst is here! While the tickets and food aren't less expensive, I felt I was getting a better value with the clean and crisp AMC theather. I never thought there would be a movie theater I would purposely drive further to, but I think I'm digging AMC Randhurst and I'll be back often. read more

Could be better with reclining seats, but being down the street from my house and 5 buck movies on weekend mornings, cant complain too much. Get's the job done. Entrance is ridiculous though, you have to walk around the whole building to find an unlocked door. They need to work on that. read more

This movie theater has retained much of its charm since it first opened several years ago. It is pretty small, (only showing 16 movies at a time) compared to other stadium size movie places like AMC 30 or Streets of Woodfield Theater where they show 30 or more movies at the same time. But I guess this is why I like coming here. This place always never seem to be overcrowded with people and loud obnoxious teenagers. I guess those loud teenagers prefer the allure of the bigger sized arena sized theaters with their lights and sounds, and their larger arcade areas to these smaller type theater venues. But don't find me complaining; whenever there is a new movie release and I have to see it that opening weekend, I come to this place knowing I wont have to stand in line for hours just to get tickets and then sit in a crowded theater where the only sound louder then the movie is the teenage kids making out behind me. read more

I have lived in the area for years and have watched randhurst in general transform into the upbeat place it is today. AMC has really up'd it's game by offering better picture, sound, and overall comfort. They now offer comfortable leather seats and corner seats for dates. They also have a quaint little concessions area. It's definitely one of the better theaters out there. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with the new randhurs; seeing that I went to ranhurst when I was a kid! It has always been pricy, and still is! Although the seats are nice, the best part is the side tables to drink and eat at! Definitely pre-game, the bar is so overpriced I would save more money taking a limo to the city and drinking at the 95th Signature Room. Good Lord I feel bad for that poor bartender, hopefully they have a 'real job'. Nothing to hate, but I definitely love the side table seats! read more

Since the AMC theater got renovated some years ago, it is beautiful, modern, and clean. Any time i want to see a movie I go to AMC Randhurst, and I'm never disappointed by the ambiance or cleanliness of the theater. They always have any and all of the newest movies you would want to see, and offer a ton of midnight showing options for the popular releases. The only down side is that everything will cost you an arm and a leg, so I don't suggest buying a ton of food/drink there because you will go bankrupt! read more

I recently coordinated a field trip to the movies for a group of 61 and The General Manager here, John, was such a pleasure to work with! He was friendly, responsive and organized, all that an events coordinator can ask for! We arrived early, the staff was ready and waiting, all kids packs were prepared and waiting outside of our theater for easy distribution. I really appreciated the extra care that went into our trip, the kids had a great time! This theater is very nice and the staff are top notch! read more

Let me start by saying I love this theater. I don't go to the movies often but, when I do this is my theater of choice. I have had many encounters with staff members. Karolina is a total sweet heart. The only issue I have ever had there the manager Alex handled promptly and kindly. I suggest both these people deserve a raise. I mean having to deal with rude and unthoughtful people on a daily basis and still greet people with a smile says a lot about both of them. Customer service sucks and props to them! read more

Since they did the update to this theatre it's pretty awesome. If you get there earlier get the seat in the corner cuz it has a table. The seats recline(to a minimum) and it's awesome. I absolutely love this movie theatre, and it's now the regular one I go too. It is pricey, so if you can go before 4 cuz tickets are cheaper. read more

Seems like a decent theater. Sunday doesn't appear to be crowded. Picked up tickets before hand since moviefone and incorrect times. As for the venue, seats are leather. They lean back, which is nice. Clean for a movie theater. The only drawback is the ridiculous price at $15+ for a Sunday evening. read more

Best theater hands down. Dragging my husband to the movies is a task to say the least, but on the rare occassion that I am able to pull him by the ears (sometimes literally) it is always to AMC Randhurst. We have been together for about 3 1/2 years, and in this time we've gone to the movies 5 times (Planet of the Apes, Transormers (2 or 3), Ghost Rider, Twilight (last intallment and only because I already had plans to see it with my mom), and now Die Hard). Yes, I really can count all of the movies we've seen at the theater on one hand. The theater is new and clean. The screens are great quality (especially theater 7). I like that they have a full bar, should we decide to have a drink. The chairs are comfy and on our last trip (Valentines day), we were able to catch one of the tables which was pretty cool! I love that the last row of the theater has extra leg room, and the lower rows have great reclining features. Definitely way comfy! Now, we have tried several food things. I love the coke freestyle machine. The first time we used it, we couldn't figure out how it works, but quickly started trying interesting delectable soda flavors. I'm not a big soda person, but when I do drink soda it has to be coke! They have awesome popcorn (my favorite part of the movie theater experience). We even tried a philly cheese sandwhich and chicken bites and jalapeno poppers, all of which were good. If I didn't love everything else about this theater so much I would delete one of the stars only because it takes a while to get the food food, as most of it is fried and they only have 2 friers. Luckily we never had to wait too long, and it isn't just sitting under a heat lamp, but they should definitely get another frying machine on the occassions that they are busy. Also, I highly suggest you get a stubs card (for those of you that go at least 2-3 times a year and get food n stuff too). It is $12 for the year, but every dollar is a point (including the $12 that you spend on the card). For every 100 points you get $10 credit toward tickets and/or food. PLUS they always charge you for smaller things, like if you get a medium popcorn, and medium drink, you get charged for smalls! read more

This is a new theater. It is fine as long as you get there early and get a good seat. I dont know why they built the theaters the way they did. The only good seats are the ones in the back of the theater. The screen is so big that the seats in the front are just too close and you can feel it in your neck when you sit there. The seats are very comfortable and the atmosphere is great. I would have made this theater a little bigger and put the seats back much further. I would have liked this theater when I was younger because I would not have to put my glasses on because the screen is so big I don't need them at all. The movies they are showing are the top rate movies and I do like that. It is a little cool in the theater but that beats it being too hot. Arlington Heights lost the theater so this is our new place to go now. I do like that they have restaurants very close. read more

Probably the best AMC that I've been to. Service is great, always clean, and the best part are the seats. I personally like the round tables where you can set your food and drink down on and watch your movie. I don't drink, but they also have a bar which I'm sure would be an awesome experience of you drink. Bathrooms are always fairly clean, for a movie theater anyway. read more

Worse customer service ever. We are AMC Stubs Premier and we were waiting in the priority lane. But the cashiers gave preference to three regular men Evers before us. And finally when our turn came the guy "premier" counter didn't know anything about A list. He asked us to go to a different counter where we had to wait again. What kind of priority is this? Paying extra money and this service was the worst. We love watching movies but will not be visiting this theatre. The old guy who was the manager was clueless. read more
