Had a promotion party at Dudley's, Friday, 17 JUL 20206, with about 75 guests attending. Everyone enjoyed themselves and there was plenty of space to move around. Food and service were good. They have a parking lot and covered parking nearby. Staff were polite and helpful. Would recommend it to others. read more

This place is HUGE, I wish I would have come with a party! I came in for lunch, they have great specials! I enjoyed the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with side salad. They didn't have any fruit or sour beers on tap or in the bottle which was a bummer. The waitress was wonderful and gave great suggestions. The only reason I can't give it a 5 is because the bathroom was not working and gross. I think if they updated that I could give 5 stars. The food is excellent! Especially with the new menus, it offers many more tastier and healthier options. I love their extra large milk shakes! Prices are reasonable. They also have great daily specials. They have a gigantic projection screen TV on the ground floor for sports and karaoke. They have been experimenting with the karaoke, but I am so glad they brought it back! It was so popular so it was confusing why they changed it to begin with. Karaoke is hopefully back to stay on Fridays from 9pm-1am. When it gets busy, the service can be slow. However, it is usually good. They have a private back room on the ground floor for hosting private parties, holiday parties, birthdays, corporate events and happy hours. The rooftop patio has a full bar and is very nice to eat there and relax in warmer weather. Bathrooms are usually clean. There are two entrances -- one sliding door without stairs near the ground floor outside patio and the main entrance does have stairs. There are no elevators. The ground floor is massive and able to hold hundreds of people. This is a great spot for sports, brunch, karaoke, and just socializing. read more

It's been a bit more good than bad, maybe more of a 3.5 stars, but they got rid of the BINGO night, and the last time going wasn't good, so rounding down to 3-stars based on most recent experience. In late 2010's while living in MD, I'd have work travel to VA sometimes or just want to go to trivia at Quinn's in Courthouse, and we would sometimes win generous gift cards to Dudley's. Two visits to Dudley's in August 2019: On Monday, August 5, 2019 my ex-g/f & I help spend some of my gift cards. I got a crab cake, mac n cheese, & fries. Glad I saw the pic because I didn't remember. The crab cake & mac n cheese was good but nothing to write home about. Fries were pretty solid though. On Thursday, August 22 while driving from southern MD on work travel back home, I had gotten a text from the organizer of the trivia group to call her as soon as I could, which I thought was a bit strange as she hadn't texted/called me in any recent time. So, I was nervous about what it could be. I called her back, and she informed me the co-organizer of the group passed away. She also said we were having a brunch at Dudley's honoring him this Saturday, August 24. I told my g/f at the time and said we should go, which she agreed. The outside area was reserved for this large group. Dudley's does have a nice outside rooftop area. I may have had an omelette or something with eggs (unfortunately I didn't take a pic). Probably wouldn't have been appropriate to have taken a pic for even an informal memorial. January 2020: Friday, January 10, 2020 was a strange day in not so good of a way. I had DC work travel and went to a movie at AMC Shirlington on my AMC A-List, which wasn't strange for me. My g/f calls me to tell me her contract job was being put on hold because the president of the contracting company had died. I was upset since she had just gotten the job less than a month earlier and was happy for her that she had gotten this good job. It was also one of those rare Friday nights where we weren't together, perhaps a girl's night or something else. After my movie, I went to Dudley's to take advantage of their half price pizza special and use more of the gift card I had. I assumed it was an individual size, but it was a huge pizza. I was happy it was a good deal, but I was by myself. So, it was little less than ideal. I ended up seeing a couple of friends on the way home in Bethesda and shared some pizza with them, and I still had some leftover pizza as well. The pizza was pretty delicious. Funny story between the 2019-2020 relationship & my g/f now: Went here another time on a date in May 2022. I had significant work travel, and a first date was from online. The service was good, got the happy hour drink, which was solid. The date was kind of mediocre. Funny thing about this first date, I pieced together I had gone on 1 date with her 9 years earlier! I asked for her number (since we had only communicated on whatever dating app), and when I entered the #, I realized it was in my phone with her name! Finally onto Spring 2024 with my current g/f: My g/f mentioned a group was going to BINGO night here, which they typically did a week of a holiday. The two times I went was week after Easter & week before Memorial Day. I was agreeable as I thought it sounded like fun, which it was. They had a 1/2 burger night on the Thursday night, so obviously I would plan to get the burger. Burger is good, but not great. The first time I got the burger the normal way. But the 2nd visit in May, I decided to go healthier with a lettuce-wrapped burger. The burger came out with shredded lettuce around the burger. I ate the sucker, but a huge shi*show of a mess this was. So, that was annoying. There were enough napkins, it was noisy, server was slow, & wanted more water. After the last experience, it's just as well that BINGO is no longer there. read more

Service: Short-staffed for a Saturday brunch. It was pretty empty when we got there at 11am. Took about 10 minutes for server to come and check in with us. It got gradually busier as we hit noon. Food: i only ordered food and no drinks since they didn't have any bottles of champagne for Brunch. I got the chicken + waffles and it was dry, both the waffles and chicken. I dipped it in the syrup and it did not make it better. I was totally underwhelmed and this is probably the last time i would dine here. 2 ladies at my table ordered the breakfast tacos and didn't finish. The wings did look good. So overall, i would say if you want a place to watch h sprigs and drink, this could be your place. If you want some tasty food, go up the street to the main streets of Shirlington. Well what ever you dont drink your beer from a glass pint because multiple times I heard the bar tender tell people "you dont want it in a glass the dish washer has been broken for over a year" I dont expect a lot when going to a sports bar but man this place is just sad.... Workers look pissed. Fred the bartender was an absolute trip pitchers falling over all the place beer taps sputtering and foam. I ordered off the happy hour menu for a "smash burger" its not a smash burger its a frozen store patty unsmashed. When I asked about it I was told "I dont F'ing know they changed this S and dont even tell us" I knew I was in for interesting time when every worker in there looks like they do not want to be there. Finshed my food and drink and got the heck out of there. Order a cocktail and they just yolo it when making it. Hope the Virginia Department of Health comes and checks this place out asap. After about 5 minutes of being there we were made aware about a $40 minimum spend per person fee in order to sit down in the establishment. No signs, no indicator of this information prior to entering and sitting down. If you're in the Shirlington area and don't want to be told to spend at an inconvenience then I recommend going to Astros or Palette 22. read more

I do not agree with dudley's $40 minimum per costumer policy during the summer for the world cup. It is completely taking advantage of the costumer and when we ordered the food was not worth the price. You can tell that increased the price for every dish they had but didn't increase the portion. Left because it took so long to get my order. I visited to watch one of the Final Four games and sat on the rooftop. It was somewhat busy, but nowhere near packed. Ordered a Stella, Marg, and Nachos. Took 20 mins to receive the nachos which were lukewarm and soggy. Our waitress passed by our table multiple times and after 45 mins, and finishing the Nachos, we finally got the Stella. 30 more mins go by and the waitress assures me the marg is being made, only for her to forget for another 30 mins. At this point I was just curious about the dysfunction. Long story short, I flagged down our waitress to ask for the check and to inform her I no longer wanted the marg. She apologized and said she was the only server, but I watched as she sat behind the bar doing nothing for long periods of time. She then exclaimed "also, I took the marg off your tab" to which I said "yeah... I never got it", she rolled her eyes and I eagerly selected "no-tip". They did have rude customers and one asshole complain about the dumbest if things, but to each their own, however the service staff handle it well. The ambiance was fun and exciting. Is Dudley's going under?!?! I hadn't been there in about two years, but after last night, I'm honestly wondering if they are. It was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. We sat at the bar and ordered a Guinness, which was listed as being on tap. The bartender tried to pour it, but nothing came out. He told us *all* the taps were broken--yet later in the night we watched him pour beer from another tap with no issue. Out of roughly 10 taps, only four beers were supposedly available. Next, we ordered two mojitos. Five minutes later, the bartender came back to say they were out of mint. We switched to margaritas instead. When I looked at the menu, I noticed the prices were significantly higher than what's listed on their website, which I had checked before going. When I asked about it, one of the bartenders said it's "been like that forever" and they just haven't updated the website. As a result, I ended up paying $16 for a burger I thought was $11. When we tried to order boneless wings, they told us they were "discontinued." The food eventually came out, but the buffalo chicken wrap we ordered had no buffalo sauce at all. The strangest part came when we paid the bill. We paid in cash and handed the bartender a $100 bill. Instead of using the cash register two feet away, he pulled a wad of cash out of his pocket and gave us our change. I've never seen that happen at a bar before, especially since we watched other employees using the register throughout the night. I really wanted to like this rooftop bar--the view is nice--but the service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. When we walked up, there were three bartenders just standing around behind the bar talking to each other. Instead of greeting guests or taking orders, they were literally playing a game of "chicken" to see who would bother helping customers first. We sat there for several minutes being ignored while staff laughed and avoided eye contact. When someone finally decided to take our order, the attitude was flat, like we were inconveniencing them. The Jalapeño Smash Burger is definitely worth trying--flavorful, cooked well, and nicely put together. Unfortunately, the service went downhill after we ate. When we asked for the check, he looked at the screen and said, "I'll have to fix your check, it shows you ordered food." We laughed and said, "Yes, we did eat--just need the bill, please." So we were excited when Dudley's first opened seemingly forever ago and somewhere around 6-12 months ago they started to go very downhill in terms of service. We've given several chances and made excuses and tonight was finally the last attempt. Tonight the rooftop bar was very slow and there were three bartenders when we walked up, yet we were never greeted and a trio of guys walked up a few minutes after us and they were immediately served. Like if this was the first, or second, or third, or, or, or, or, then whatever but it's been like this for months. Our entire softball team used to come here after games and spend money on food and drinks and the service got so bad we started going to Astro (which I actually don't even care for). Please get your shit together and be better so we can try you again, but at this point I don't know how you still exist. read more

I want to love this place - it's the closest sports bar to us living in Shirlington and trivia is so much fun there! But I have never had service this bad consistently. We've gone three times now and it has gotten progressively worse to the point it's truly comical. This most recent visit we were told somebody would be right with us. 10-15 minutes later this person returns and takes a drink order but we never get it. After another 25-30 minutes we decide to just take matters into our own hands and get drinks from the bar and order off the QR codes (which we were specifically told not to do on our previous trip!). The joke's on us because we keep winning gift cards at trivia and therefore keep going back but like at some point they are going to have to change their service to counter only because that's exactly what it is. So if you're going to go here make sure you are aggressive as hell or you will sit for hours without as much as a drink to be served. read more

I come here a lot so this experience has me feeling some type of way. Everything was going fine originally got our appetizer which were mozzarella sticks and the buffalo cauliflower bites. They were good like usually no complaints. I ordered a cheese pizza with chicken And onions. Once the pizza came out I looked at the chicken and noticed it looks a little green and dry. I talked to the manger and asked why the color looks a little off he said it's because of the seasoning they used for the chicken. Cool I guess as you can see based on the picture I took a bite to taste and didn't like it the chicken was over cooked. I asked the waiter to see if they can take the pizza off and they came back and said the manager said no. Which was baffling to me because i never had a manager say they couldn't take something off the check. So I took the pizza with me since I paid for it didn't really have no other choice. He caught an attitude when we sent all our food back, he attempted to intimidate 3 women when we tried to complain on him to the manager who was drinking in the back with customers. I watched him yell at an older woman who also complained about lack of service at this point, yall need to hire ppl because understaffing has been an issue since his bar opened. Why is the staff quitting!? A fish usually rots at the head. As you can see my history of reviews dudlesu has ALWAYS been problematic. That entire restaurant needs an overhaul. The vibes were fun; managers, bartenders and staff were friendly; and food was decent. II's like a complete 180. We recently came for a playoff game. Apparently, there was a management change. I went to Dudley's on a Saturday afternoon to watch the EuroCup final. We wanted a spot to watch the game on the big screen and enjoy some solid bites and brews, and they delivered. Because this was a big gameday, the bottom floor was packed (about 30 minutes before the game's start) so we immediately headed upstairs to the roof area. The rooftop was really nice; had alot of bar top seating, a long bar with 15-20 stools, a big screen (or maybe projector) tv. Fortunately, the rooftop is also 'mostly' covered with large cloth awnings to provide some shade from the sun. They also had large fans blowing air out into the space - definitely needed on a 90+ degree day. Unfortunately, those who didn't snag a shaded seat didn't last long on the roof. The drinks were well made and moderately priced - $8 for most beers, seltzers, and rail drinks then $12+ for the cocktails. I stuck to rail rum for the day and my friends had mostly seltzers; can't go wrong here. The food was solid - we got the chips and salsa and some wings to snack on during the game. The salsa was delicious, but they only gave us one small ramekin of it for the entire bowl of chips. The sweet and spicy wings were the perfect balance of sweetness with a kick - I'd definitely get these again. The atmosphere is casual and was just the right amount of rowdy for a soccer game. Nothing stood out as a unique or amazing trait, but definitely a spot I would be more than willing to come back to. read more

Dudleys has been slowly circling the bowl long before they were sold to new owners, but I'm done with them. The service has always sucked; there's high turnover, and if anyone gives good service, they don't stay around long. Shrinkflation has become bad, with them cutting the number of wings in an order from eight to six and still charging $15 for them. They are not worth $2.50 a wing. Used to be their beer prices were high but decent for happy hour, but they raised those prices too. The pizza used to be good and I heard they got their dough from a local Italian store, but now it tastes like cardboard. Nail in the coffin was I went for happy hour today and despite having signs everywhere saying small pizzas are $10, they charged me $12. Sat at the bar for 10mins made eye contact with the bartender and wasn't help for another five minutes afterwards and every time that I was helped, it's because I yelled for the bartender instead of being checked on constantly throughout my visit. The bar was not busy whatsoever. I'm not a picky person at all, but I had one beard and I left because how terrible the service was. A beautiful spring day calls for rooftop bar! Dudleys has a pretty nice rooftop with lots of seating. I originally came for the cocktails and unfortunately they were subpar. Way too sweet and not too strong. I'll stick to beer the next time I'm here. I also got food. The 8 piece wings were very tasty! Not cheap tho ($16). I highly recommend the sriracha honey flavor. Dudley's is a great place to go and catch any sporting event game, match, etc... they've got the energy to match! Service was great considering how busy they are. Drinks are nothing special, but good and they have your typical bar food. Of course game days are loud and fun, which is to be expected.
