It wasn't too sweet either. I also got hot chocolate which I think was some of the best I've had. It tasted so smooth, light and rich at the same time and kinda of like chocolate marshmallows! The place can get crowded and it's small, so you end up waiting cramped inside for your drinks. As you wait though you can watch the bakers decorate the cookies which is pretty cool. Service is friendly, got our order wrong initially and had to refund and do it again. It's crowded and loud so understandable. Plenty of parking in the lots across or on the street.

I highly recommend their coffee, I get a different drink each time and I'm never disappointed. The bakery can get a bit crazy and crammed, it's fairly small, and there's a lot going on, especially on the weekends. The staff move quickly to get orders ready and out, everyone works efficiently. As for the treats, my fiancé has enjoyed a variety of goodies from there, especially the cupcakes. I usually opt for a box of the gluten-free (also vegan) raspberry bars. The box is definitely pricey, so it's absolutely a treat for me to splurge on myself. Overall, the spot is worth a visit to while near Maplewood if you have a sweet tooth or need a caffeine fix.

I came here at 8:30am on a Friday morning to get some desserts. Got some at 9am and told myself I'll at least wait until lunch to break into it. I lasted all of 10 minutes before the chocolate cake started taunting me. So naturally I took a taste of the cake and the snicker doodle cookie, because being an adult means I can have sweets for breakfast. Both works of art! The chocolate cake is rich and moist and just melts in your mouth. There is vanilla icing and caramel sauce which really adds to the experience. I don't like caramel and even I was kicking my fingers. The snicker doodle cookie was also delicious and would purchase again because it was so cinnamony and perfect, but I'm a chocolate gal through and through. I'm taking on the challenge to not eat all of this before my guests arrive this evening - but I may fail and that's ok. Izzy is the only one working there and she is so lovely! She opened this space because she outgrew her home kitchen. Excited to keep trying the new flavors!

I love visiting Maplewood and I've eaten at a few places along this main street but I've walked by…read moreSpot Diner a ton of times without stopping in. This weekend I decided to finally check it out. Spot Diner is located in the middle of a block, sandwiched between other store fronts. A blue awning is set over glass windows in the front. The doorway is a bit awkward, but when you get in you'll see plenty of booths and regular tables to sit at. Even better, you can sit at a counter to the left, one of my favorite features of any diner. I wound up sitting at a booth and it was at an odd time (around 4PM) so it was not crowded. The waitress was there very quickly and she was very nice. The host was cool too. No issues at all with service. The interior of Spot Diner has clearly been renovated in recent time. You can tell at one time it probably looked more like a classic diner but since then the interior has been painted blue and grey (giving off a Greek restaurant vibe) and there are some nice paintings hanging on the walls. I was really there just for a snack so I wound up ordering French Toast (which was still available at this hour). It came out quickly and it was good! One of the challenges with French Toast at any restaurant cooking it thoroughly while not drying it out. Fortunately they did a great job here The outer edge had a nice bit to it while the middle was chewy and cooked properly. Butter and syrup were of course provided on the side. I enjoyed my visit to Spot and I hope to come back for a full, proper breakfast one day!
