I really like Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream especially because you can fully customize your mix-ins and build exactly what you're craving. The ice cream itself is always creamy and delicious, and that part never disappoints. Definitely go early if you're going in the summer because it gets extremely crowded and the lines can be long. You'll probably end up waiting a while when it's peak season. One tip: always ask for a double cup. Once you step outside, especially in warm weather, your ice cream turns into soup pretty fast... literally. The staff is very friendly though, and I've always had a good experience with the workers there, which makes the visit even better. The ice cream is a *little* pricey compared to other places, but sometimes you gotta splurge. Their "signature creations" are only slightly more than just getting a scoop of ice cream. I had the seasonal Pumpkin Cheesecake and my boyfriend had the Creme Brulee, which came with fruit topping, a nice topping. The service was great, they let me try a few flavors and were quick to proceed through the line. If you are in the area, I'd recommend this location, but the general area is a little hard to find parking. A few days ago I placed an order for pick up 20 minutes before closing. I got to the store 15 minutes before closing and as soon as I walked in a male employee yelled at me that he wasn't taking any more costumers. I explained that I placed an online pick up order and he said it was fine. As I was waiting for my order two more costumers came in before closing and he yelled at them as well. The one costumer exclaimed that the store wasn't closed yet which was true, and he tried to convince her to leave but ultimately went into the line behind me. Overall, this was a disappointing experience in comparison to other locations I have visited, especially because Cold Stone isn't cheap. I also wanted to point out that a female employee was very kind to me as well as the other costumers that were yelled at and helped all of us. But no one greeted my boyfriend and I when we walked in the door. Something I'm used to at cold stone mind you. I used to be a worker here for many many years and while I recognized it was overpriced, it was never breaking the bank or being unfair in any way. When I was trained, we NEVER charged for multiple flavors in a cup of ice cream. NOT EVER. There was not even a button on the register for that. While waiting in line, my boyfriend asked me if they charged for 2 flavors in one cup and I said very loudly, "no of course not! That would be insane". The girl ringing me up heard this and chuckled. Well once we were rung up, I see on the screen that they charge $1 more for an additional ice cream flavor.... it's all going into the same cup, what does it matter how many flavors they get? It's not like you're adding any extra. I have never been to an ice cream store that charges for something like that. I'm happy to pay for additional things I put into my ice cream, but this? Seemed crazy. I've just seen this place go downhill for years and it's upsetting to me because I used to love working here. I asked for peanut butter cookie dough with chocolate chip cookie dough mixed in. First she misunderstood me, then she tells me that they don't have that even though I can see it. She then tells me she can give me cookie dough with peanut butter mixed in, even though this isn't what I wanted I say okay because I don't want to make a big deal or issue with her. After she made it she goes to hand it to me and, expecting her to set it on the counter, I was slow to take it from her. I love Coldstone ice cream. I'm giving them 2 stars solely based on the poor service at this location. Yesterday was the last straw. My last several visits have been unsatisfactory but I keep going back because I love the ice cream and it's the closest location to me. I will no longer be frequenting this location. Why should I continue to spend my money when I can't even get decent service? And I always order half gallons for my family of five as we all like different flavors. We spent 30 minutes waiting for our order to be completed. The store was not packed. The girl was too busy socializing with her co-workers. The ice cream was packed sloppily. It was left sitting out while she completed the others instead of placing the finished containers in the fridge. I had super soft and runny ice cream by the time I got home and it was not a hot day. For a college area that more likely thank not receives a lot of foot traffic, they really should have a minimum of two individuals behind working behind the counter at all times. I've had a few experiences here where customer service was so-so, but before tonight, I never had anything that would spark me to review the location. But when I drove there from West Orange because I know this location is open until 10pm, only to be told when I walked in at 9:38pm that they're not taking any more customers, I had to come online and write a review.
