If you stand or sit outside the place, the owner will argue with you and say "this is for my people, my people," when there are no people who come here. I wonder why? Manager, Colombian guy / guy w beard, is very, very rude. He will yell and argue with you for sitting or being outside with the chairs and tables they leave on the street. Does not make you want to become "one of his people." Believe what you read online via Google about this place. 100% was rude to a pregnant lady, and probably rude to everyone else. Absolutely delicious and fresh !!! I went in to get some freshly baked goods for the family while I was in town. I could not have made a better choice. Even during Covid 19 - the shop was just adorable. I ate a Almond Croissant- hands down the best I've ever had!! So moist and delicate - the almond slices where soft with just a lil crunch. The croissant itself was so soft and so delicious and buttery to the Gods - I enjoyed it sooooo much. Grabbed the baby a dinosaur cookie and mom grabbed a Peach muffin.... I will say - I didn't actually see any peaches in it- but she enjoyed hers too. Win win read more

Located next to Starbucks and Cold Stone Creamery. This spot has been around forever. The have all kinds of goods here. Bread Pudding, various quiches, cookies, cupcakes and other foods. I think they also have pre-packaged ice cream. The place smells great!! Staff was nice and friendly. Been here while waiting for my car at one of the local mechanics. I ordered an egg and cheese sandwich on plain bagel. Bagel was really nice and fresh, and the eggs were the superstar. I know it sounds weird to praise just simple scrambled eggs but they were cooked to perfection. Moist, yet crunchy on the outside (how?!) and seasoned perfectly. The train to NY destination in NJ was down so I went as far south as I could go which took me to South Orange Train Station. I was a little early, and saw a Dunkin' Donuts and figured I'd grab a breakfast sandwich and a coffee and hang out there for a bit before grabbing a cab to my hotel. Fortunately for me DD did not have seats and do I heard towards the Starbucks, and instead, I happened upon this wonderful little gem of a bakery which was right across the way - in fact, I had walked right by it when leaving the station, and didn't notice it at all. I'm so glad I did! I love quiche and there were 5 different choices of quiche. I opted for the classic quiche Lorraine and it was really good. Having made quiche more than a few times myself, I always found it hard to include too much cheese without it losing integrity, but these guys cracked the code. Very cheesy yet still firm. Just the right amount of ham. The crust was light and flaky with just a hint of sweetness. The coffee was good, not great, but good. $7 all in, which is definitely a lot less than I would've spent at Starbucks. They also had a delicious looking selection of cookies and pastries, and there was a fairly steady flow of what appeared to be local customers, which is interesting for the middle of the day on a weekday, so it appears it's popular here If you happen to find yourself at the South Orange Train Station, give this place a try! read more

I feel like I must have gone to a twilight zone version of this place? The reviews are mediocre, but I have only had great experiences here. It's literally in the station, so it's the perfect place to pick up a coffee and something to eat on the train. Cheaper snacks here than in the cinema next door if you want to sneak in something. Or a host gift if you're visiting someone in the Oranges (family size vegetarian quiches!). The espresso coffee is decent, at least as good as at starbucks and dunkin down the road. And for $1.75!! I've found the staff to be friendly, especially considering how rushed customers can be here. They're even open on Thanksgiving. read more

Carrot Cake Cupcake: A little too much icing for my taste but moist and okay overall but I probably won't purchase this again. Cannoli: Almost all in the display case were cracked. Now imagine how she felt having almost finished eating her breakfast today, let alone all the times she previously ate this Fakery's Almond Croissant. If you are commuting to South Orange via train this place is a great! It is right down the stairs from the South Orange Train Station. The inside is clean and the employees are welcoming. There is indoor seating and two outdoor tables. They have an array of breads and other items to choose from on the menu. I ordered a toasted sesame seed bagel, chocolate croissant, and a Iced Mocha! An adorable bakery in an adorable area in an adorable city...or should I say town? I like that cutesy-town-square feel. This is a place where my GF has gone to many times before. I'm not sure what happened, but their "goods" weren't that good. We ordered three different items. I consumed this chocolate cream puff and thought it was okay...okay as in, I don't hate it...not as in, I kinda like it. I tossed the cannoli away. The shell was soggy, not crispy. The filling was thick, way too sweet, and had this bizarre aftertaste. My GF took about two bites of her Key Lime Mousse and decided to close the box, "I think I've had enough." We were there on a quite rainy day, Saturday, early afternoon. Their trash cans were all full, all of them. Tells me they didn't take out the trash at night. It was kind of empty in there. I love the location of this place. I meant to head to Starbucks for a change of study environment but couldn't pass this place up when I walked by. Very cute and they have a nice selection of fresh tasty baked goods and even more important for the task, caffeine. They have extra flavor syrups near the creamer that you can add to your iced coffee so extra stars for that! I sat outside on their sunny picnic tables and was able to free-load the Starbucks wi-fi. It made a perfect morning. (Bring sunglasses) Did I mention this location is amazing? Cutest little town square feeling to it. After living in NJ for two months, this was where I started to finally feel the love. I do agree that the management/employees don't seem too happy to be working. They say they're open until 7pm on door dash so I placed an order of pastries as a gift to some local graduates. Then, 20 minutes before it's scheduled to arrive (also 2 hours AFTER I ordered and paid) they cancel it with no warning. Here's an idea, list the right hours so you don't leave people high and dry. I want to like this place, I really do. I would love to have a nice comfortable local bakery where I wanted to sit down and enjoy coffee and the occasional treat like I do in Maplewood at Palmer's and Able Baker. The challenge is no matter how hard I try this place is not worthy of my efforts. Not only are the pastries often dry and lacking in flavor, but the real travesty is the rude service. There are times I rush in for a quick coffee before taking the train to work and the staff is non-engaging, never smiles and is often downright rude. Yesterday was the final straw for me. A gentleman had just finished using the restroom and walked up to the register. The man working literally barked "You have to buy something!" to ensure that he got the message that the bathrooms were for customers only. No hello, no how can I help you? Just yelled at him. The man was insulted and walked out after saying "I was about to buy something" and I followed without making a purchase. There is so much opportunity to be a local business that flourishes. This community loves supporting local business. However in order to earn the business at the very least you need to treat your customers with respect. This place was next door and even though I am trying to avoid too much sugar, it was too cute to pass by. The stuff looked pretty good. I had the chocolate mouse cake. It was okay. Nothing spectacular. A little stiff for a mouse and it just didn't have that "uber delicious" factor that I like when I indulge and have cake/pastries/dessert. Their cheese danish are truly delectable, and worth an occasional caloric splurge, as are the almond danish, the corn and blueberry muffins and the tiramisu cake (which is decadent). I called "Maria" to make sure the image was received and she said she'd call if there was a problem. I never got a call and when i went to get the cake today (Sunday morning) i was stunned It was the ugliest thing i have seen. No image printed and placed on the cake. It was a picture of red, lip shaped eye glasses. They hand drew, in brown, a horrible picture that is unidentifiable. Literally. The woman called the owner "Raoul" who refused to speak to me because it was his day off. There was no one there to improve what the cake looked like. The sweet lady behind the counter felt terrible. I got my $57 dollars back and we are now cake-less.
