My first visit to Jessica's and I am very impressed. The coconut cake was delicious. The flan was the best I have ever tasted.

Let me start by saying that I really really wanted to love this place and had even told my hubby…read morethat this is where I wanted to get our daughters birthday cake from. And after reading the reviews, I was really excited to try out the desserts at Meile. And now that I've been here I'm really confused about the reviews and even more disappointed that this is where I ended up going. I wanted to pick up a few cupcakes or pastries for my hubby's birthday and decided to get some on my way home. Not sure if it was the time I went (got there just after 6) - but there were no options to choose from and the girl at the counter had no idea what was actually in there. I ended up picking up 4 cupcakes and a cake pop (for my toddler) that was shaped like a Christmas tree. The cupcakes were $2 a piece and the cake pop was $2.50, totaling $10.50. She told me my total was $15 and only when I did the math in my head and explain it to her did she realize that she did the math wrong. Fine, no problem - we all have our days. My biggest issue was the quality of the cupcakes. They were dry and old. At least a few days old. Only once I got home and took them out of the box did I realize they were basically rocks with frosting on them. Not only that, but the decorations she took off before placing the cupcakes in the box turned out to be New Years themed. So basically these cupcakes were leftovers from earlier this weekend? I wish I had known that before I bought them. So now it's too late for me to do anything about it and my hubby is going to have to have nasty days old cupcakes on his birthday. Great.

They ended up not enjoying it, so that's why there's some missing and none of us wanted to eat it anymore! Spoke to Suzi when picking up the cake and explained to her that the cake would not be eaten on the day of, but instead two days later. The cake was for September 1st and that happened to be Labor Day so I had to pick it up earlier! She said, "That's fine," and it can be stored in the fridge for up to a week and in the freezer for up to three months. So, not sure why there's a sense of judgement, cakes should be able to be stored for longer periods of time! And we wanted to order from a bakery specifically, since it was a special occasion. Not sure what your reference to a "squished" cake has to do with it food will accumulate residue in containers overtime! 9/12/25 From seeing professional pictures online of the beautiful cakes on Google Reviews of Suzi Cakes and good reviews on Yelp, I genuinely thought that the red velvet cake I ordered over the phone with Suzi would be amazing. Boy, was I wrong. I had to throw out the cake after 6 days because no one wanted to eat it anymore. We gave some part of the cake away to a relative, so we didn't consume much...not sure if they enjoyed it either. There were 'red' flags that I noticed when placing an order with Suzi. I chose to ignore them because I needed a nicely catered cake for my sister's birthday. Suzi sounded very direct over the phone and sometimes dismissive, so I felt that I needed to truly know and prepare for how I wanted my cake each time I called. I could not go in person to explain or show pictures due to the distance from her business in East Hanover. Suzi gave me the listed price of $90, and I personally thought it was overpriced for a 7-inch, single-tiered cake. I originally did not want to place with Suzi, but I could not find a place around me that would do a red velvet cake legitimately, besides Coco Luxe Cakes in Peapack and Gladstone. Coco Luxe discontinued their red velvet cakes, unfortunately, which is the cake I truly needed, hence why I ordered here. Next, trying to find the suite number and building for this place was a nightmare, another red flag. It's very tight behind some train tracks and very easy to miss. Thank goodness for advanced technology and Google Maps/Street View for helping me navigate. I called Suzi on the phone so she could service me at the front desk to get the cake. I picked up the cake and truly believed that I would make my sister's birthday special, and I planned everything perfectly. I stored the cake in the fridge for 2 days before eating and followed all of Suzi's storage directions. We tried the cake and it was awful. It had a fermented-like taste, and we could not eat it. I saw a similar review on Yelp of someone having Suzi make their cake for their wedding, and their wedding guests could not eat it; it was that bad. I was hoping that would not happen to me, but it did, surely. The icing was hard, dry, and chunky; the cake itself lacked flavor. I got a red velvet cake from ShopRite in July for $16.99, and it tasted way better; just the cake was a little dry. I called Suzi to give her some feedback so she knows. She informed me to come back so she could examine the taste, but at that point, we threw the cake out. $90 truly wasted. Can't really ask for a refund, I guess, because I never came back to her about it, because her location is almost an hour from my house...not sustainable for me. Despite the good reviews, I will never go to Suzi Cakes again. I will stick with another recommendation I got from a relative for Coco Luxe in Peapack if I want a professionally made cake from a bakery. My sister's birthday was ruined, and no one in my family liked the cake. The price for the cake was outrageous, and compared to other local bakeries in the area, the price does not justify the taste. The presentation of the cake is good, but the taste is abysmal. Save yourself, your palate, and your wallet by looking elsewhere!

Suzi Cakes could not have been nicer or more accommodating with just 2 weeks notice. The communication was so simple, professional, and pleasant. They delivered the cake exactly when they said (in the pouring rain) and even placed the topper and flowers on it before leaving! And then the cake itself...oh my yum! We did Vanilla with Oreo Mousse filling and it was DELICIOUS. The cake was so soft, fluffy, and flavorful. And the filling was awesome! I know I've found my new bakery for future events!!! Thank you Suzi Cakes!

Sometime you just crave a cupcake!…read more Walking by this grab and go spot I peered in and saw they had Devil Dog cupcakes, a flavor blast from my childhood. Had to get one. it was ok and satisfied enough. Be aware that nothing is freshly baked at this tiny location and it is a bit pricey for what it is.

While the presentation was 10/10 across the board, the flavors ranged from "nostalgic perfection" to "a bit of a letdown." Devil Dog (The Winner): This was by far my favorite. It was a trip down memory lane, perfectly capturing that nostalgic Hostess chocolate cupcake flavor I loved as a kid. Lemon Raspberry Meringue: Coming in a close second, this cupcake was bright, fruity, and incredibly fresh. It felt light and offered a great balance to the richer flavors in the box. Ube: This cupcake was stunning to look at. However, the flavor didn't quite live up to the exotic profile of a purple yam; it tasted like a traditional vanilla cupcake that just happened to be purple. Great for the aesthetic, but standard in taste. Hummingbird: This was the only real disappointment. I was expecting the signature tropical punch of pineapple, but it lacked that acidity. Instead, it felt more like a simple banana nut muffin with icing on top. Final Verdict: Overall, the experience was positive. The shop clearly has a talent for decor and nostalgia. I'd definitely return for the Devil Dog and the Lemon Raspberry, but I might skip the Hummingbird next time. Last Note: The woman working in the bakery was a bit rude and had an attitude and that alone will make me not com back no matter how good the cupcakes are.

When the product I ordered was delivered I explained to the owner that the finished product looked absolutely NOTHING ( it almost looked like someone got drunk and threw my cupcake bouquet together) like the product she advertised on her Instagram page days before I placed my order. Here's a piece of advice for someone trying to make it in the small business world- If you're going to Google images and not mark on your Instagram posts that the image posted is for inspiration only and not your actual work that's called FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! Update 8 months later- The owner still continues to post false advertisement with images saved from Google and Pinterest claiming it as their own product. The reason why my review is so harsh is because I want other buyers aware of the poor product they are going to receive that their hard earned cash paid for. DO NOT ORDER FROM CAPPIE CAKES! TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO A HONEST SELLER!
