On my way home from Hinckley to Hayward and decided to stop in somewhere for breakfast. Midway through my trip I stopped in Danbury and found Amelia's Cafe. Wow, what a great find! Biz was my server and is the nicest! Lynn, also the nicest Manager, stopped by to check on things as well. Even Anson, the chef stepped out to check on things! I had the blueberry pancakes with eggs and bacon...delicious! The pancakes were deceiving... they had a ton of blueberries inside! Bacon crispy. Eggs large and cooked perfectly. Look forward to making Amelia's my regular breakfast stop gong forward, and meeting Amelia in the future. Highly recommend...great food...great service! read more

My husband and I have seen this cute cafe many times during our ATV trips to the Danbury area. We decided to give it a try! The restaurant is quite spacious inside. It was decorated in cute farmhouse decor mixed with a cozy country feeling and was giving me some fun Mexican vibes. As our server was giving us a run down of the specials, she mentioned they have special date nights dedicated to serving only Mexican dishes and tasty margaritas! We'll have to come back to try it! As for the breakfast we had, it was served quite promptly, despite being busy. My husband had the chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and hash brown. It was one of the best he had! He asked for extra crispy hash browns and it was made perfectly! I had a simple breakfast of easy over eggs and bacon. It was quite delicious! Our server was very friendly and warm. Stopped in for brunch and it did not disappoint. The place was busy but we were greeted with a smile and told to sit anywhere. Server was quick to bring menus and drinks. We tried the hangover breakfast, a slice of French toast and the Burkett. Hangover was a huge plate with a few to many American fries but ample other things and topped with perfectly cooked eggs. French toast was thick, cooked well and served with warm syrup. Burkett was perfect size with a good mix of toppings, perfectly cooked egg and really good homemade sour dough toast. Had to try the homemade bakery too. We got two cookies and peanut butter fudge to go. Fudge was creamy and yummy. The cookies were ok, I think $1.50 per cookie is a little pricey and wouldn't get again. read more

We stopped at about 1 pm for lunch today in Danbury and found Amelias on the map. It is a mixture of American and Mexican food, so what could be wrong with that?/. Nothing!! It was really good. I had the Mexican eggs with hash browns which was SUPER, the eggs were so fluffy and well seasoned with peppers, cilantro and onions, a very good thick salsa that was homemade. The hash browns were crispy and yummy, but the wild rice bread toast was a star! The slight sweetness and tender crumb made this so delightful we bought a loaf to take back to the vacation cabin. My sister had a really good BLT sandwich with the same bread, and great fries. After some mediocre food lately, this was a real pleasure. The servers were so nice, and very attentive. The bathroom was so nice and clean and bright, and the restaurant very much was bright and pleasant to be in. Highly recommend!! And get some bread to take home read more

Visited on a random Wednesday morning about two hours after they opened. I honestly wasn't expecting much since it doesn't look like a big deal from the outside and to be honest I drove past it a couple times before finally deciding to try it. I'm so glad I stopped in. As I walked in it looked peaceful and quaint, which is something I'm looking for in any breakfast spot. I was greeted almost immediately and told to sit wherever I'd like. Immediately after sitting, I was greeted by a server who I discussed my being new to the area. Delicious! Cute place. Great people. We went for breakfast and I had the pesto bowl. It's hash browns covered with peppers, mushrooms and spinach. Add some cheese, 2 eggs and smother in hollandaise. Then there's a splash of pesto on top and a pile of chopped tomato. So gooood! My hubby had a giant breakfast quesadilla. He loved it. I had to try a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy for the table. sure the portions are large...but we arrived for a Father's day breakfast. After 15 minutes we finally found the stash of menus ourselves. After placing our order it was 42 minutes to get eggs. I had asked the owner if he made his gravy for the biscuits and gravy from scratch or is it out of a can? I love bisques and gravy to the point that I make it at home from scratch. Very easy to do. The owner of Amilias told me that he wouldn't feed that kind out of a can to his cat.... Well when I got my bisques and gravy I was disappointed that I had been lied to about the gravy being made from scratch. I paid my tab, left a tip but highly disappointed in his dishonesty. When they first opened they were my absolute favorite breakfast place. Ever since all the Minnesota people came flooding in they've cut corners and it's nowhere near as good. The chicken fried steak is now pressed chicken out of a bag. I didn't even eat it. I'm glad they're doing well but don't cut corners to make things cheaper and faster. My wife and I came here for breakfast to get out of the casino. All the positive reviews are spot on. Great selection, bigger than normal portions, perfectly cooked, great service. This is the kind of private "mom & pop" place that I look for on my travels. I had the mexican omelette (yes, five eggs), and my wife had the eggs benedict wrap with hash and toast. She couldn't finish it and neither could I after I polished off my omelette..... rare occassion. Add the bakery and this is the spot when we come back to Danbury. read more

My wife and I stopped in for breakfast based on other reviews and we were not disappointed. The first day we had corned beef and hash and shared a pecan pancake. Because we enjoyed it so much we came back a second day just to share a blueberry pancake. She had the corned beef and hash again and I had the breakfast quesadilla. Great portions of food like pancakes so big you can share one pancake between two people. There was nothing fancy about the food, but that was what we loved about it. Just simple but very delicious food that had us filled for most the day. We will definitely stop in the next time we are in town as this has become a destination for us.
