Have been here multiple times over the last year. And I know that it is not tourist season yet. So not having two of the five beers available for my flight tasting was a very bad start. The soup here tends to be the best thing on the menu. I tried the chili and was disappointed in the portion size and taste. The entree, like the appetizer was pricey and just good enough to not send it back into the kitchen. At these prices the food, portion size, and wait-staff should be more engaging. Four of us stopped in at the Trego location earlier today (Sunday) for a Father's Day late lunch. My wife and I decided to split a beef brisket meal. We were very disappointed in the quantity of the brisket. I would expect a more generous portion than we received, especially for $26.50. We received three slices of brisket that resembled a 3 slices of thick bacon in size. Another person in our party got the pulled pork, and that serving was more the size that you would expect. read more

I was visiting from Texas. I was invited to spend the day with my friend and her neighbors in Spooner, WI. After shopping, we stopped at Round Man Brewing Co. for lunch. We sat across the bar by the window to the brewery. Pretty cool! The menu had so many things that sounded delicious and I wanted to try but I opted to share a BLT and the Beet and Pear Salad...so that I could eat 2 different things for lunch. Yum!! Used to be good before COVID. If you go here, be prepared to wait, so bring a snack or something because both service and the kitchen are painfully slow. Not friendly place anymore unless you are a townie. The food used to be better as well. Beer tasted like it was served in a soapy glass that wasn't clean. Used to be really enjoyable but no longer. There is a cool industrial vibe. On a sunny summer day the outside tables were full, so we were seated at a hightop near the bar. The appetizers were quite good- cheese curds and smoked duck nachos. The curds were lightly breaded and not greasy and were what you'd expect in Wisconsin- where cheese curds are plentiful. The smoked duck nachos upped the foodie quotient compared to other loaded nachos. The duck with the mango pico and ancho aioli had a smoky fruity balance. The lunch entrees were not as successful. Our table had the prime dip, the wood stone chicken, the pork schnitzel, and the Princess Margaret pizza. Nobody raved about their entree. The pork schnitzel was particularly disappointing with a pork to breading ratio that was heavy on the breading. There were a few "meh" comments from the diners. Considering each entree is around the $15 mark we expected more. There sadly didn't seem to be enough servers for the lunch crowd. It was hard to get our server's attention to keep things moving along as she was all over the large space. We didn't have any of their craft beers, but I wish we had. My advice- go for the atmosphere, the appetizers, and the beer. That approach would have resulted in a more fulfilling experience for me and my dining crew. read more

Way overpriced. If you order rice bowl and want to add shrimp it is additional $9, so $22.95, and nothing else with it. There were 2 small shrimp and maybe 2 more small shrimp chopped up..... sad. The Old Fashioneds were terrible. Very slow in getting everything, and there was one other table and a couple people at bar. We popped in to grab a quick bite and a drink. Really cute place and it was busy. Our waitress was really sweet and checked in often. We had the Round man burger with fries. Burger was cooked well but the bacon was kind of a dehydrated texture. The pickles were my favorite. Sweet at first with a little kick at the end. I was ready to give this place a one star review. We went for lunch and even though the place was mostly empty, the hostess said we had to wait so the server could "get organized". We waited for about 10 minutes and were finally seated. After being seated we waited another 8-10 minutes with no one coming to take our order or even ackowledge us (including the hostess who sat us), even though there was NO ONE in the seating area. We noticed people getting served right away at the bar, so we got up and went to the bar. Thankfully we were greeted by the friendly bartender who immediately took our order. We had the ah-spoonah beer hazy IPA and strawberry lemonade (both good). I ordered a thin and crispy pizza and was pleasantly surprised that they actually listened! It was perfect! When I visit Spooner, I usually end up at Round Man because it's got a solid tap list and decent food. Like other reviewers have said before me, this place is ALWAYS busy. Expect to wait at least 20 minutes for a table. Luckily, they give you a pager to let you know when your table is ready. The general store next door is in range, so I usually browse while I wait. I like how their beer menu is designed. It gives you a good sense of what you're getting. I wanted to try the RazzBeret seltzer, but it was out of stock. The waitress suggested I get a cider instead. It was a little too sweet for me but still tasty. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken was cooked well, but it wasn't particularly memorable. I did really like the fries - I think they're beer-battered? My friend ordered the smoked wings and was disappointed by the lack of smokey flavor. My review was teetering between 3 and 4 stars due to the average-tasting food, but I bumped it to 4 because the waitstaff were extremely friendly and attentive. read more

We were looking for a place to eat on the drive home, found a gem! The restaurant and brewery are very well designed. I am not a beer drinker, so no beer review. The food matches the though the owners and staff put into building the place. The BLT has so much bacon is awesome, the marinaded tomato's add a wonderful touch. As food prices have gone up and food quality is declined a bit at this restaurant. I feel they have been doing the best they can. The service is always good. I had the Margarita Pizza this past July 2024. Well it Sucked. Worst I've ever had. 3 of us out of 6 ordered it. Well, that's never going to happen again. Extremely disappointed. We waited 30 min to be seated which was fine, we waited 40 more for our food to come out. We ordered a margarita pizza and a prime dip. The pizza came out burned and when we asked the server said it was cauliflower crust pizza and that's how it looks, and they were out of regular crust. They didn't bother to tell us this until we questioned why the crust was burned. The prime dip and fries also came out cold. We spent over and hour there and left without eating anything. The beer was good, but the pizza was quite another story~we ordered the mushroom pizza which offered add-ons so we ordered the sausage. When served, this small round pizza had all of its ingredients served in 1/3 of the pizza-no kidding (Shame on me for not taking a picture) the small circular middle part of the pizza had all of the toppings, which were, at best acceptable. The sausage we added was flavorless & the cheese was baked on the remaining crust which had no toppings. It was a very sorry looking pizza and tasted the same ;-( ~Other items coming out of the kitchen looked good, wish we would have ordered something else. Would not recommend the pizza~OH, one more thing! This establishment adds a 4% "Health & Wellness" to your bill so you can pay for their employees who might take benefits for this enterprise. Been there many times, but recently we have been disappointed with the food. I had their spicy rice bowl with chicken. It was tasty, but the chicken was a 6$ addition. I would be surprised if there was a 1/2 oz of chicken added. Also the veggies were basically raw. It was way overpriced for what you got. Others had pizza, it looked way over done and the amount of toppings was very small. Overall not impressed. Service was good. Not sure I would return. Not good value. read more

The food here is just OK more like you're basic bar food but they try to elevate it but fails. Their margarita pizza looks great but they end up covering it in a vinaigrette so much so that you cannot taste the fresh flavors that you're supposed to get out of a margarita pizza and instead you just taste vinegar. It also makes the pizza more soggy. Also as someone who orders cheese curds at just about every restaurant in Wisconsin I consider myself a connoisseur. Their cheese curds here are very basic small and not worth the price. It's about $12 for a small plate of cheese curds, and they only give you about 12 curds that are tiny, huge rip off don't order them here. read more

We were there on Friday evening for the Walleye Fish fry as well as a beer or three. Sat in our usual spot at the bar. The service at the bar was super as always. I was busy, but seemed like everyone was there for the Fish Fry. Our order took a bit longer, but who cares, we had our beer. Since it is all you can eat...reorder your next portions immediately. In order to give a restaurant 5 stars, it has to have high quality food, great atmosphere, and top-notch customer service. As such, it was easy for me to give The Round Man Brewing Co. a 5-star review. We visited the restaurant on a rainy Saturday evening during COVID, a time when many restaurants weren't open at all much less able to provide outdoor seating. The outdoor seating looked crowded so we opted to eat inside where tables were spaced far apart, all tables had alcohol hand sanitizer bottles, and the staff wore masks which give us a sense that they were taking the virus threat seriously (Something important to us since we live near a big city where COVID is quite a problem). The atmosphere is wonderful and I love the industrial theme. It reminds me of a modern Speakeasy. Dare I see that this place looks a little "too cool" for a small town like Spooner?!? While ambiance is important to us, the real reason we visited was for the food and beer. My wife liked their Omaha X beer so much that she left with a growler full of it. We both loved our salad, main meals, and deserts which were definitely NOT the run-of-the-mill bar food offerings that almost all northern restaurants offer. We don't normally order desert unless it's really special and the key lime cheesecake was just that! It was easy to taste that it was made with real limes and not fake ingredients. The only con I can think of about the restaurant is that it's 300 miles from our home. As such, next time we're anywhere near Spooner, we are definitely going to be stopping back at The Round Man Brewery. read more

Rating based on food- Duck nachos- barely any duck, very dry nachos, had a delicious sauce drizzled on top but not enough of the sauce. Said mango, so I thought a mango salsa but there was only 3 chunks of cubed, canned mango on top. Did not look like other pictures on google reviews. Pork schnitzel sandwich- very dry, there was maybe a teaspoon of the red pepper sauce on the bottom of the bun, top of bun was completely dry. Did not taste red pepper sauce at all. Round Man lost a star tonight. I still love the ambience and give the owners tons of credit. The place is unique and one of the best in the area. Warm inside. Cool decor. Heaters over be outside patio. Bar service was slow tonight. Long waits and bartenders who didn't really ask you if you need a drink. You had to work at getting their attention. The Old Fashions made up for the wait. Cool effect with smoke in the glass. Date appetizer is killer. Four pieces but well worth it. Dunno Nachos very good. I had a pasta chicken dish (first item on the dinner menu). Love the shaved parmesan. Comes with a salad which never showed up until I asked. I don't like when my salad comes out after my entree. Waitress was super sweet and I could tell she wasn't happy either. I'll go back for sure. A real gem in Northern WI. There's not much like it between St Paul and Hayward. The food was good, but not great. Drinks - old fashioned in our case - were served very stylishly. But the simple syrup was ok. The smoked apple wood was visually arresting. Service was lovely. A nice vibe with the owners around. They stay open late so I'll bump them up to 4 stars from 3. We had an event in the Round Man Brewing Company's Parlor Room, and it was AMAZING! The decorations were gorgeous and the staff was so helpful in getting us all set up. They really went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything that we needed. They set up a separate tap just for us in the room so our guests did not have to go out to the main bar to get drinks. They set up a stage and a sound system for our presenter. They had a delicious charcuterie board for the appetizer that we requested and several tasty beers on tap. We couldn't have had a better experience! read more
