I spent the last 6 months researching the best solution for my water filtration needs. From in-home consultations to on-line calls, I spoke to more than a dozen people. My decision was easy once I had Dave from Ameri-Kim come out. He is extremely knowledgeable about the water in the area and knows the best way to treat it. No pressure sales, doesn't waste your time with a long-winded presentation and provides you with options. We are on a well with some iron, sulfur (egg smell) and the occasional red/gray sediment. Even though our softener did a great job with softening the hard water, it did little for our other issues. The installation of my system took about 2 hrs without any issues. Ameri-Kim installed an iron filter and UV filter shortly after we moved to our house in Deer Park. Since then our water has been free of sulphur smell and we haven't had iron deposits on our appliances, plus we've had the peace of mind knowing that the UV filter would disinfect anything coming up from our well. When I've had minor service issues they've been extremely responsive and have come out to address right away. I moved to this house and the water was very hard. The system it had was Angel. Called the Angel guys and got the quote. The Angel softener was 18 years old and was guzzling 2 bags a salt each week and still was hard. I have never lived in a house with well water. So had no idea how much it would cost. Got 4 more quotes and it was around the same. My neighbour recommended AMERIKIM and he told me what he paid. It was almost one fifth of the quotes I had. It was very hard for me to believe. I was not sure whether to call AMERKIM but went to yelp and decided to call AMERIKIM. Dave came the next day- he was the most knowledgeable as compared to all others. He was not at all pushy. The other competitors were telling me what all I need (more than what I actually needed). Dave said all I needed was a water softener and no need to replace carbon filter- all other vendors said that on top of a water softener carbon filter must be replaced, install iron buster blah blah blah. Dave said in few years we can rebed the carbon filter at 1/3 the cost of carbon filters what other competitors had proposed, if need be. Dave asked me if I was interested in RO. I had ordered a RO system from AMAZON. Dave never pushed his product. I called them the other day and went for both RO (5 stage) and Water softener with AMERIKIM. I cannot believe the price I got. All the other competitors quoted this on top of their system: * To drill a hole to put a faucet for RO : $150-$200 (Dave did it for free) * Installation RO (Labor) $200 (Dave did not charge extra for that) * Installation Softener (Labor) $200 (Dave did not charge extra for that) * If RO is under sink, it will be free. If put in a basement, they will charge extra. (Dave did not even bring this up- he just put it in the basement) * Hooking the refrigerator line $85-$120 (Dave did not even bring this up-hooked it up to the refrigerator) * Salt in the brine tank during install - other vendors were charging extra for that. Dave put 200 lbs of salt and it was built in the price. * Filter replacement too was more expensive as compared to AMERIKIM With everything done , it was almost 1/5th the price of other competitors. Dave came at 8 AM installed both the water softener and RO system, hauled the old system and was out at 12:00. I highly recommend AMERIKIM. Please take quotes from different companies but do call AMERIKIM. You will be surprised. Till now very satisfied with the water quality. read more

Dave and Kim of Ameri-Kim are very responsive, professional and saved me a lot of money, $1,300.00 The primary softwater service provided in the area listened to my concern, tested the kitchen cold water, told me the cold water was 30+ grains hardness and I need a new softwater system for around $1,600.00. I tested the washroom cold water at 17 grains hardness and composite cold & hot water hardness of 10 grains. Questioning why the difference I asked around and was referred to Ameri-Kim. When I explained the above to Dave he told me kitchen cold water is always going to be hard as generally kitchens are not plumbed for soft cold water and decisions should not be made based on testing kitchen cold water results. We tested cold, hot and composite water in the washroom and with results similar to previous results,10 grains, which lead us to the water softener. Following some analysis and calculations Dave determined and recommended I only needed to replace the control portion of the water softener for around $300.00 or so which I did. After 60 day's we still have continual soft water upon demand. You can see it when soap suds, feel in on you skin, tiles, china and utensils are spot free. Just to confirm I test the water 3 or 4 times a week with a HACH Model 5B Hardness Test Kit and the water is consistently 0 to 1 grains hardness. I was having trouble with a water treatment unit at my house in Long Grove that used bleach to treat the sulfur smell that naturally occurs in the water. Our water smelled like bleach for 2 days a week was fine for 3 days then smelled like sulfur until the unit regenerated at the end of the week. A neighbor said he had gone through the same thing used a bunch of companies and all sorts of equipment until he called America-Kim. So I called them up. Dave, the owner came to my house. He first listened to me and my issues (I wasn't pumped about smelling bleach when I drew a bath for my young kids). He recommended a system that didn't use chemicals to treat the smell. I purchased a new home and the well water inspection showed a strand of bacteria in the water and recommended not drinking it. After a couple of months of drinking bottled water, I called Dave and Ameri-Kim Softwater. He came out the next day and reviewed the water inspection. He told me that the bacteria strand I had was not dangerous to consume and said I didn't need any water treatment. He did let me know what services and products he provided in case we were interested and was on his way. After talking with my wife, we decided to purchase a reverse osmosis water filtration system. He came out the next day and installed it quickly. He set it up to have a tap at the kitchen sink and another water line to the fridge. His price was much more economical than going to competitors. We live in Lake County and our home has a well. We had to get a new water softener and found Ameri-Kim Softwater company from the internet. We had called other water softener companies for quotes as well as Ameri-Kim Softwater company. The main reason we chose Ameri-Kim for a new water softener was Dave, the Owner was so very nice on the phone, he took time to explain different options for us, and he was exceptionally knowledgeable on the problem with extreme rust we were having and the best product for our home. We do not have a large budget and one of our worries was how would we afford a new water softener. No worries there; Dave came out and showed his inventory and offered refurbished models for us. He even let us make payments for about 4 months. Here is the best part, at first Dave said he would save us money if we installed it ourselves. But then when he delivered the softener he said I'll install it for us. Within 30 minutes to 45 minutes the old water softener was removed and the new water softener was installed and running.
