American Airlines should apologize to the public n promise to improve service in the future. This is not the 1st time they mistreated people. In 2012 because of Owebummer coming to Miami to campaign causing massive chaos n delay, we were stuck at the airport for 10 hours before getting on another plane nearly missing my cruise, I never forgot that traumatic experience as they were in your face uncaring. I booked JetBlue unfortunately they cancelled my flight n I didn't want the new later flight so I had no choice as AA is the only other airline going to Puerto Rico, I'll never ever take any cruise out of PR, it's chaotic, read my review later. The delay was originally for a short time later it became 1 hrs n making the connection Miami to LAX impossible. They rebooked me for a flight 3 hrs later w 2.5 hrs layover so basically the flight took almost 20 hrs it was insane, they changed gates 9 times! Delta would have apologized profusely n give you tons of yummy snacks n drinks. I took Delta JFK TO LAX N was pleasantly surprised they gave us lunch! They never even alerted me of the flight change n get this now we had 2 middle seats n I had paid for seat selection. It was hell on earth as the chick having the aisle seat was bitchy each time I needed to go to the BR. I posted the picture of the guy ignoring my request, I asked for a coke n 1/2 a glass of water, he gave me water n no coke, I asked him 3 more time he just ignored me, I had no sleep 20 hrs n had no energy to report him to the manager. WTH was his problem, if any manager reads this review pl retrain him in customer service. I have a sister in law n her 2 daughters working as engineers analysts for AA, they fly business class for free around the world so they treat their employees well but if they continue mistreating the passengers they will face consequences n I will post this on my social medias some 15,000 followers and maybe even their web site. read more

Due to someone hitting my car on the way to the airport I arrived 57 minutes before my flight and was told I am no longer able to board with my bag, the time it took to explain to tell me that they could have just took my bag and I would have been able to make my flight. Now I'm missing a day of work and wasting a whole day sitting in the airport, not to mention going from an 8 hour travel day to a 15. On my trip from Dallas to San Juan (PR) I informed the stewardess about an object on the wing (A321S plane). This was this past Sunday. I was told that that is normal. I told another and took a picture and ask to show it to the pilot. Same response from the pilot. That is Bs. You will be the judge (first picture). Back and forth on American for Puerto Rico this month. It had a couple of delays causing us to arrive 30 minutes late. We sat in the exit row coming home to Miami that has lots of leg room, but is very uncomfortable with the seats being too narrow, with awkward trays that slide out of the armrest. Though, they gave us free Heinekens for being there which was a bonus. It took a very very long time to get our checked in luggage at the carousel. read more

Same mediocre American Airlines unfortunately we arrived early and could have made the flight before ours back home. However the counter agent arrogantly said it was oversold. Funny thing when we got on our flight which is also supposedly oversold there however once onboard there was tons of extra seats. I can't understand where the customer service is can't they just assist and try when they can? It makes flying that much more difficult when you have the added stress that at any time they can't take your luggage and say it won't fit. No wonder AA isn't in the top 10 for customer service. We got to the airport early with our family who had earlier flights. We were not allowed to check our bags for two more hours due to "TSA doesn't want to babysit them". We explained we'd like to sit with our family so we can say goodbye to them before Christmas. They said "family isn't an excuse". We turned around and they instantly allowed a family of 12, on our same flight, whose mother had priority, to check their bags and go to the gate. So because ONE family member of 12 had priority, they all got to check their bags early. But we couldn't be with our family of five to say goodbye. read more

Yes, completely different interior (same plane type) that I took from Chicago to San Juan, Puerto. Flaws: Entertainment in First Class and throughout the plane was a small overhead screen showing one movie. No headphones offered. Asked for a cheese plate and was not provided with one. Rushed meal service. Seats, tray tables, carpet and pouches were worn. No in-flight magazines or duty free options were offered. read more

Two stars because my plane hasn't fallen out of the sky... Yet. Can't remember flying on planes as old as every one they own. I swear I looked out my window and saw duct tape on the wing. I digest American Airlines change their name because they're making America look bad. PRICE: Not even close to the best prices, especially for the rough experience. They charge $25 per bag whether it's the first or fifth one. If your bag is even one pound over 50 lbs, it's $100. Yea, because that seems fair. PLANES: Wow. Can't believe they're still in the air. Talk about old. They have the least amount of leg room for coach passengers. The aisles are so tight that i have to jump in the person's lap next to me to make room for anyone walking down the aisel. They have no monitors in the planes to watch anything during your flight. You can purchase Wi-Fi during your flight for one small car payment and trust that it'll lag the entire flight. ATTENDANTS: They're usually pretty good. Helpful and informative. I can't blame them for the way the airline is ran. TIPS: Do whatever Jet Blue and Virgin airlines does. read more

I can't tell you how many times they stopped my husband, tried to get me to go on without him (pregnant, so I could just lug my carry on into the aisle and be in the way while not being able to lift it above my head by myself to put it away, yeah right. I agree with some of the other reviews. OLD planes--one didn't seem to have intercom so we had to TRY to hear the spiel about safety. No usb ports to charge phones, etc; no screens to watch flight progress nor to watch during flight. One plane ( CLT to GSP) made such shrill, whining sounds from boarding to deplaning that my ears are still ringing painfully this morning. Gate attendants were friendly and helpful. Flight attendants NEVER smiled and one looked as if she had either a terrible headache or perhaps just a bad attitude. They never made eye contact, even when thanking us for flying American. It's never been my intent to become besties with them but they could at least attempt to suggest that there is sincerity in their thanks. The landing coming from San Juan to Charlotte evoked applause from the passengers (not just me this time) because it was SOOOO smooth. The landing in GSP--sounded as if something had broken off--bang, knock, crash, clatter. On a positive note, both my American flights departed on time and arrived ahead of schedule! read more

Lots of flight options from American to get to and from San Juan and stateside, just a little more expensive fares so you have to do a little more planning and looking online to get good deals. They have the most direct flights though to the West coast. read more

It's a small and convenient airport. AA with 18 gates and Jet Blue with 6 or 8. Well decorated, finally finished construction and so this is how it runs... ARRIVAL: In both terminals the higher the gate arrival is the longer the walk to the exit. No more than a 5min. Walk from gate 18. Baggage claim will take a while, and do worry if something in your bag breaks. They're strong and throw your bags (PR's known for boxing) and like to chat a lot for jokes or the hot flight attended from last night. Once the bags arrive the exit is close and oit to get a cab. 20min. cab/drive to Old San Juan, less to Condado, right on Isla Verde where San Juan Hotel, Intercontinental, Ritz Carlton, and Marriott Courtyard are just 5min. away. Car rental places are conveniently close. DEPARTURE: Arrive early. TSA does a lot of random bag and personal checks. Check-in before hand online or count on self-check in. If checking in bags, this is where you'll wait long if taking early to afternoon flights. Other than that, most counter flight employees are happy and proud to help. If you're nice they'll be even nicer. Puerto Ricans like your visit and love their island. They wish they could give you a free upgrade if they could. Good service. There are several food stops. Not recommended since it's a little $$ for an airport but breakfast by gate 9 is good. Especially the mallorca sandwich. I come here often and will continue doing so. #Family read more

American eagle airlines left us stranded in Gainesville FL. We were scheduled to fly out to Charlotte at 8:30 am. We received a call at 1:am that informed us that our flight was canceled for weather. We checked the weather in both the origin and destination airports. There were no weather issues. So we had to get online and completely rebook our travel. We were also delayed three hours on our flight from Miami to Gainesville. So my recommendation is never make reservations on American if they need to use the American Eagle small regional air services. read more

Hello, I wanted to express a concern regarding how I was treated on a flight. I was traveling from San Juan (SJU) to New York (JFK) on flight AA261 Dec 11, 2016. I was not able to select a seat upon booking and was assigned seat 7C upon arrival at the airport. I am 4'10 and upon seeing this seat did not have under seat storage space I asked a flight attendant for help to place my things in overhead storage. Michael, one of the attendants told me to walk down and find space and I told him yes, I understand but I am too short to reach which is why I'm asking for help. Michael ignored me and another pasenger had to get out of their seat to assist me. I then sat down and realised my feet did not touch the ground and placed my small handbag beneath my feet to avoid knee pain from the strain of no support. Michael told me I could not have my handbag there due to the rules of that particular seat. I told him it would really hurt my knees and asked for another seat. Michael told me I could exit the plane as the door was still open and offered nothing more. I then walked down the aisles asking taller people if they would switch seats. I found someone who was willing, then Michael got on the intercom and told everyone not to switch seats. This was incredibly humilating for me. I can not do anything about my height and am very dissappointed in the lack of compassion and discrimination I encountered from AA employees. Words fail to convey the impressive level of incompetence that American Airlines bestows upon its "customers" each day. Their very creative employees revel in anticipation of finding new ways to mistreat passengers. Most other crappy airlines are only capable of one or two blatant failures during any given flight. American Airlines, however, can deliver dissatisfaction from booking, through check in, boarding, meal service and disembarking the aircraft. They are a strong team dedicated to screwing up every part of your experience. My experience was so thorough, I didn't believe I was experiencing reality any longer. It was so perfectly bad that it couldn't be real. A Matrix-like experience only without Trinity wearing tight pants and flying helicopters. It was more like a collection of Weight Watchers dropouts auditioning for a role as a Marine boot camp sergeant while over acting their parts. I took a trip from south Texas to San Juan PR First plane to Dallas was ok Second flight from Dallas to Miami was 20 minutes late, I told the attendant at the gate that I was concerned I might lose my connection flight in Miami, she looked at me, didn't say anything and just continued looking at her computer. I get to Miami, lost my connection flight to San Juan, they got me a second flight t San Juan a few hours later. Third plane, I boarded the plane and it wouldn't move, the staff didn't know what was happening, after almost 3 hours the pilot says there is a problem with an engine and it's being repaired. We finally took off after 3:45 hours after boarding, we arrived in San Juan and the planes power went out during taxi, the pilot said we had to wait for external power before they could open the doors. The AA staff in the airport in San Juan is rude and useless. Airplanes are very old and very uncomfortable. Use other airlines, please. read more

American Airlines sees everyone on their flights as a dollar sign instead of actual human beings, I originally bought my tickets in advance for my boyfriends birthday days after returning from deployment he cheated on me I called American asked if there was anything I could do they told me flat out your out 1,000$ for that passengers ticket shortly into my week of going to st thomas my grandmother died ... I called the airline customer service line after waiting. 35 minutes I got a person who told me even though my grandmother died and I spent 2,000 with this airline and use them every time I fly and my family even has American airline credit cards that I would still pay 200 to change my ticket even though it was to make it to my family ontime to see her body before she was completely taken away I spoke to a manager they said they could not waive it and I would pay the 200 to get home I cried I begged and pleaded .. the answer was still no. absolute the worst airline to use. my son and i manage to surprise my mom with a trip to puerto rico for her birthday. not only did aa allowed them to sit on a plane for over an hour .flight departure 7:20 am with a connecting flight .then explained that that plane wasn't fit to fly. aa offered them a flight to puerto rico the next day but my siblings refused. so they found another flight leaving 1:47 pm. remind you they had arrived at the airport approximately 6:20am. so hours has passed and they have spent most of the day in the airport. so now all reservations are screwed up including hotel and rental car. and on top of that they didn't want to accommodate for a extra day of expenses sense their the ones responsible for the inconvenience. i was booked on jet blue because i purchase my tickets a month in advance. i have never used american airlines and i promise you i never will. thanks aa for ruining my mom's first flight experience. i will let all my social networks know of how aa operates. very unacceptable!!! #donotevendeserveonestar read more
