    Prior to our trip, I purchased carryon bags and chose seats for me and my gf. Carryon bags were more expensive than checked bags by $7...$60 v $53, if I remember correctly. LAX-PHI-SJU: no problems whatsoever to report, other than I could not check in online and had to see an agent at LAX to do so. But everything went smoothly. This morning, SJU-PHI-LAX, I again could not check in online and had to see an agent. There, I was told that the same carryon bags I spent an additional $120 on were now, suddenly, too large to fit on the aircraft. When I protested that they were the same bags we brought on our arriving Spirit flight without issue, I was told by the agent that "Puerto Rican planes are smaller." When I said I didn't understand...that the same planes that fly from Puerto Rico eventually come back with new passengers to Puerto Rico and that their carryon bags fit just fine, as mine did coming in from PHI, I was told by the same agent that "Puerto Rican planes will drop off the passengers and then turn around and come back." Obviously, this is ridiculous. He then told me that there would be no charge to switch our bags from carryon to checked, since we already purchased carryon bags and they were the same price as checked baggage, even though I had paid more for my carryon bags than the price was for checked baggage at the time of purchase by $14. Upon then choosing my choice of seats so that I and my gf would be able to sit together, $23/each=$46 total, the agent asked me for $76. When I asked why that much, I was told that checked baggage was $5 MORE than carryon (EVEN THOUGH HE HAD JUST TOLD ME THERE WOULD BE NO CHARGE) and that since we were making our purchase with an agent, it was an ADDITIONAL $10 each. When I pointed out that I could not check in online and was instructed to see an agent, he told me what that REALLY meant was to use the check in kiosks. Again, this is obviously ridiculous. Eventually, a much nicer agent took over and we were able to complete our checkin, still for 56 ADDITIONAL dollars. It should be noted that as I was being helped by the new agent, Michael (who should get a promotion, btw...as he was the ONLY person who appeared to give a shit about customer service), the other agent was pulling the same crap with an elderly Vietnam veteran, who overheard me and my gf talking about the baggage bait and switch. All of us marveled at the incredible shrinking Spirit planes and saw through the facade to what this truly was...a dishonest fleecing. How can a carryon bag fit coming in and then be too big going out? I asked Michael to speak to a supervisor, but was told after he went to talk to her that she was backing up the other agent and was "too busy to speak to me." Coward. So, now I have paid over $1600 total for two tickets to San Juan on a budget airline that doesn't even serve water and whose seats (which I even had to pay extra for the luxury of choosing) barely have cushions and don't recline...at all. What an absolute joke. I fly a lot...all over the world. I've flown on the biggest and best of global carriers and the smallest of southeast Asian propeller planes. I will walk or swim before I ever step foot on one of Spirit's planes again. Also, I watched this flight attendant take off her mask whenever she spoke to anyone or used the PA.

    I would give a zero start if such an option. I am totally enraged by the airport staff about how they treated us! We arrived at the airport about one hour early for the US domestic flight. I have gotten my flight tickets already. The staff at the counter were extremely slow at handling the bags and they told me that I am late and it is already passed the boarding time. But it is clearly written on the ticket that I have arrived before the boarding time and it is obvious that they are the reason that delayed my flight. They said that I will not be able to catch the flight before the gate close, which is totally BS because we have at least 40 minutes before the gate closes. Their website only says you need to arrive 15 mins before gate closes, which is way more than enough time for us. I am a GOLD member of spirit airline and I do have the option to bypass security which could save us a huge amount of time. They just totally ignored it. Finallywe're they forced us to pay to switch to a flight next day. This is beyond absurdity. Also I have tried to call the corporate but they have no option to complain to a real person except filing a form which takes 60 days to get any response, so if you are screwed by the staff, you will not get justice.

    The flight was late and the airplane looked like it was made on a budget but worst of all, was the service. The connection was about to leave just as we landed. (Both flights were spirit air.) We had to run to the other side of the airport, just making it before the gate closed. That's when a guy named Pedro appeared from the same gate. I don't know what he does other than gulping on protein shakes and using too much gel in his hair but he was really trying to appear important. Pedro claimed that it was our responsibility to make it on time to the connecting flight and was accusing us of being late. He was too thick to understand that if the initial flight was late, the people on it will be late as well. Extremely useless, given both flights were with the same airline, the one he was supposed to represent. He ended up delaying the flight for everyone for no apparent reason than his need to be heard. Overall, Pedro epitomized spirit airline - useless, rude and not worth the time.

    Worst airline! Last time flying in spirit. $100 for a fucking carry on bag!!!! That is a rip off!!! Don't fly with them. Hidden Charges in baggage!! They charge you arbitrarily in gate.

    I want to start off by saying they canceled our flight last minute on the day we were suppose to leave & left me & my wife stranded in San Juan ,PR . They told us we couldn't fly till Wednesday afternoon mind you we were suppose to leave Monday afternoon due to work & business meetings . When Wednesday came around like at 1am they cancelled our flight again supposedly due to the weather but when we spoke to family the weather was better then never before . They didn't even offer any accommodations for any of the days , not hotel not anything . The customer service representative was horrible & super rude , they didn't help us with anything all they could say was that they can cancel & refund us our money , not even the full amount . We had to cancel lose money & pay almost 3 times the price for a flight on Thursday & the best part was that when we get to the airport spirit was flying to fort Lauderdale at the same time when they told us they didn't have flights till Monday due to weather conditions. We basically got lied too , lost money & stayed stranded for 3 almost 4 extra days . Worse airline I've ever used & I will never in my life fly with sprit again , even if it's free . I do not recommend them for anyone even if your trying save some money it's not worth it . They charge you even for carry on , no other airline does that .

In 2012 because of Owebummer coming to Miami to campaign causing massive chaos n delay, we were stuck at the airport for 10 hours before getting on another plane nearly missing my cruise, I never forgot that traumatic experience as they were in your face uncaring. I booked JetBlue unfortunately they cancelled my flight n I didn't want the new later flight so I had no choice as AA is the only other airline going to Puerto Rico, I'll never ever take any cruise out of PR, it's chaotic, read my review later. The delay was originally for a short time later it became 1 hrs n making the connection Miami to LAX impossible. They rebooked me for a flight 3 hrs later w 2.5 hrs layover so basically the flight took almost 20 hrs it was insane, they changed gates 9 times! Delta would have apologized profusely n give you tons of yummy snacks n drinks. I took Delta JFK TO LAX N was pleasantly surprised they gave us lunch! They never even alerted me of the flight change n get this now we had 2 middle seats n I had paid for seat selection. It was hell on earth as the chick having the aisle seat was bitchy each time I needed to go to the BR. I posted the picture of the guy ignoring my request, I asked for a coke n 1/2 a glass of water, he gave me water n no coke, I asked him 3 more time he just ignored me, I had no sleep 20 hrs n had no energy to report him to the manager. WTH was his problem, if any manager reads this review pl retrain him in customer service. I have a sister in law n her 2 daughters working as engineers analysts for AA, they fly business class for free around the world so they treat their employees well but if they continue mistreating the passengers they will face consequences n I will post this on my social medias some 15,000 followers and maybe even their web site.

The Britten Norman Islander planes are fantastic fun to fly in; if you're not used to small planes it can be nerve wracking at first, but just remember these planes and this airline make this flight all day every day and there's never an issue. Two of the three available landing patterns in Culebra are terrifying, but once you've gone a few times you realize the pilots know exactly what they're doing and the landing experience becomes hilarious and awesome. Two options to get there from San Juan: drive across the main island to catch a ferry (and waste a whole day), or brace yourself and fly Vieques Airlink. We opted for the second option, and it was quite epic... First the airport: the person at the check-in counter was a fifteen year old kid wearing shorts and flip-flops, he never checked our IDs but instead asked us to write down our name and weight (!) on a sheet of scrap paper. 45 minutes later, we're boarding a tiny propeller airplane with 8 seats... the pilot is talking on his cell phone while taking off... seriously! I guess I'm making it sound worse than it really was... we landed safe and sound in Vieques after 20 minutes over the ocean, and I actually enjoyed it (though some of my travel companion who aren't so much into flying almost had heart attacks!). And as I hear from locals, it is much more reliable than the ferry, which runs on a rather arbitrary schedule. Not for the faint of heart, but it was actually quite fun.

On my recent trip, I paid $158 round-trip for ONE checked bag. When I arrived at the airline counter, I was told they could not accept my checked bag because I was less than an hour from boarding. So I carried the bag with me to the gate, only to be charged ANOTHER $99 because the bag was supposed to have been checked at the counter. When I explained that the counter agent had refused to take the bag, the only response I received was, "Rules are rules." This isn't even our first issue. My husband stopped flying Frontier over a year ago after being charged $99 for the exact same backpack he had flown with multiple times before. The reason? They suddenly decided it had "too many items in it." At this point, it feels like baggage fees are being used as a revenue stream rather than being enforced consistently. Between the unpredictable charges, lack of flexibility, and poor customer service, we'll be taking our business elsewhere. Travelers beware: the fare may look cheap, but be prepared for unexpected fees that can quickly make your trip much more expensive than expected

Part of the delay came from not being told at the check-in counter that I needed to show my boarding pass @ the accommodation station. I was told someone would be w/ me shortly & to sit by the accommodation area, so I waited (but it ended up taking longer than expected). Eventually, I realized what was going on & went up to the accommodation station myself. When I got there, the employee acted as if I was supposed to already know I needed to present my boarding pass, which added to the frustration in the moment. The long waits & lack of clear instructions made things more difficult than it needed to be. However,when I got to the JetBlue gate the employees there were way nicer & helpful. They seemed to have it together. So it's a mixed experience.

No one was really telling us but could have been a multitude of reasons, snow storm being the biggest. Everyone was nice snd professional. Thank you to this one woman who went out of her way to help. I wish I grabbed her name so I could praise her even more. Once we were through security, which took forever (not a Jet Blje issue) the terminal was nice. A big open area with ample seating, shopping and dining areas. My only criticism is that the bathrooms could use a little work but it was a hectic day trying to get everyone out on time before the impending East Coast snow storm.
