America Airlines is definitely NOT the airline you want to be on if you wanna get home. It's always really hard visiting the grandchildren because of this airline and the fact that they overbook snd struggle to find people to miss the flight that you have already paid for. You pay for bags you pay for your seats and then bam your Fu@$ed. They actually wanted me to pay an extda fee for their mistake. I just want to save people from this fraud, that happens ALL the time. The employees that here have all agreed with us who got screwed the pilot and some stewardess.. their own people know that they do this and they think it's wrong. read more

I wish I could give a minus 5,894 rating. Even that would be to high. My wife and I will never ever fly American Airlines again in our lifetimes. Absolutely horrible experience from the moment we got to the Grand Junction, Colorado airport until we returned home. ALL 4 of our flights were cancelled because of mechanical issues and we miss ALL 4 of our connecting flights because of this. We even had an 8 hour layover in Dallas and we still missed our connecting flight. I could go on but do not fly AA for any reason. Just drive or fly to Denver and figure out how to get where you are going from there. United is bad but they are like angels compared to AA. Rotten service. Even paying for 1st class did not help us. read more

American Airlines: "YOU are the reason we fly" Oh, really? Well, my wife and I flew with American for the very first time on May 16 from Grand Junction to Chicago via Dallas and I see things differently. I booked the round trip itinerary in mid-January and I had my pick of seats on all flights. We flew First Class partly due to my wife's handicap. I chose seats together and near the front of the cabin. We have flown numerous times before, always on United Airlines and never had any serious issues. We should have stayed with United! When we boarded our first flight, everything seemed to be going okay. The flight was full we were informed. The attendant checked with my wife to inquire about her wheelchair needs (the American check-in counter should have provided us with a chair but the guy just said we'd have to ask at the security checkpoint). But that's when things began to change. There was a maintenance problem of some sort so there would be a delay while it was resolved. About an hour later, we departed for Dallas. We arrived at Dallas about an hour late making our connection time very short. As we departed the plane, we were met with a wheelchair assistant. Our connecting flight was on the adjacent terminal, requiring a frantic race across the airport involving an inter terminal train. We were exhausted but we barely made it in time. But then, that plane had a maintenance issue and once again we sat on the plane at the gate for more than an hour. I thought "how can this be?". Our son met us at Ohare to assist us with baggage and finding a wheelchair so that we could navigate the shuttle train to our rental car. But we had arrived - finally. The day before our return flight on the 23rd, I was notified by American to check-in for our return flights. I downloaded our boarding passes and saw that our seating assignments for the Chicago to Phoenix flight had been changed. They had my wife and I sitting on opposite corners of the cabin! I chose seats together back in January!!! I called American to get them reassigned and when I finally talked to someone that I could understand, was informed that that couldn't change it but all I needed to do was ask the Gate Agent and they would absolutely fix it for us. But wait, there's more! As I was on the phone for over an hour, I got a new message that the Chicago flight was delayed. And then delayed again. When we got to the airport the next day, I explained the seat assignment issue to the Gate Agent and he rudely stated that we were not entitled to any particular seat and that American Airlines can seat anyone anywhere they choose. So I said really? Then why can't you fix our seat assignments? I paid for those seats. They weren't freebies or upgrades! He replied "I can't change do that! Those seats are assigned". Huh? We boarded and once again the flight was delayed due to some mysterious maintenance issue. We sat on the plane for more than an hour before finally departing for Phoenix. Three flights in a row, all delayed at the gate for more than an hour. How does that happen? What does that say about the quality of their maintenance? We arrived very late and our Phoenix connecting flight to Grand Junction was due to depart. Again, we raced across the airport between terminals, pushing a wheelchair. When we got to the departing gate, exhausted, we were met by the Gate Agent. I could see he plane sitting there but they had just closed the aircraft door. Well, I was exasperated, to say the least. As that was the last flight to Grand Junction that day, we were screwed - again. When I angrily pointed out to the Gate Agent that it was all the fault of American Airlines, she apologized and offered to book us the next morning IN COACH and vouchers for a hotel stay. I asked about meals and she offered us a couple of twelve dollar vouchers good anywhere in the airport! Gee, thanks, that might get us an overpriced bottle of water and a cookie! The bottom line is that they just don't care! And I have to wonder if the delays aren't due to a practice of "plane packing" where there are two or more flights scheduled per day to the same destination that aren't full, their computer figures out how to combine them, eliminating multiple flights and ruining passengers personal schedules. Canceled flights (equipment changes), delayed flights, missed connections. Never again, American Airlines! YOUR MONEY is the real reason they fly! read more

The people are so rude! I paid for my flight online and apparently something went wrong and it didnt go through. Never got an email or anything saying it didnt go through. This lady was so rude. They wont take a gift card at the airport and that was how I was paying for my flight so now I'm stuck at the airport! I will never use American airlines again!!! read more

Long review but read before flying AA out of GJ: We had a 6:00 a.m flight out of GJ to Dallas ( then to Cancun). According to the website: if you don't arrive 90 min before an international flight, they could deny you boarding. So we get to the airport at 4:30 and no one is there ().... after a few minutes one TSA guy shows up ( then a few more trickle in). We are waiting for our boarding ( 5:30)... at 6:40, we get an announcement that there is a mechanical issue and they have called a mechanic and he "will be here shortly ". Ummm excuse me? The plane has been there all night and we were supposed to be in the air by now and you are JUST NOW calling a mechanic ?!?! So we sit. For three hours. We do not board until after 9:00 and then we do not leave until after 9:30. By then, everyone on that plane has missed their connecting flights. I know this is a small town airport but you're telling me you couldn't get a mechanic their sooner ? Bullshit. So then, when we land at Dallas, all of us are told to find a gate agent and be put on standby for other flights. My family was told we could fly to Miami , stay the night, and get to Cancun late Monday ( a full 24 hours after we were supposed to and we already paid for all inclusive at a resort). Or we could fly to LaGuardia then to Cancun ( WTF) or - even worse- if we wanted to get to Cancun that day, we could fly to MEXICO CITY and be on standby for an available flight. HOW ARE ANY OF THESE VIABLE OPTIONS ???? It was AA's fault we all missed our connecting flights and all they could do was offer vouchers to anyone willing to give up their seats for any of us. Why were we not offered vouchers for missing part of our damn trip!! I will say that Dallas gate agents came thru ( only because a family of 6 missed their connect flight ) so we were able to get a late flight to Cancun - arrived 9 hours after we were supposed to. But the AA in GJ- a joke. You had all damn night to fix that plane and not calling a mechanic until almost an hour after departure time is a huge failure. I will never fly AA if I have an option. It was a very stressful situation- especially the possibility of being on standby in a foreign country with an obvious language barrier. That is not customer service. That is trying to get rid of the problem and giving it to someone else. read more

American does not do a very good job on making sure it's employees know what their OWN policies are. I fly literally every week on their planes and take my tools. when asked if i have batteries I have learned to just reply "no" because their employees do not understand the WH for Lithium ion batterys and what is and is not allowed in check bags. the policy refers to SPARE BATTERIES, meaning not attached to a tool. if they are ATTATCHED to the tool and under 160Wh then they are fine to go thru check bags. once I'm thru TSA I get called back to the ticket counter to remove perfectly acceptable items from my check bag. I told the employee wanted the documentation to show me ive been doing it wrong and he brings me documentation that supports my claim and shows I was correct and then he wants to get an attitude with me because I had to educate him on the the company he works for policy. To the young giy who works at grand junction airport for American id learn the policy or be more open minded when someone who is on 4 planes a week tells you they think you're wrong. and to American Airlines, you need to make sure your employees understand your policy's or at bare minumim the DOT policies. I'm tired of getting a different answer at every airport. and it's not my job to make sure your employees know American Airlines policy. read more

I would rate my experience a zero if I could. The manager who told me my bichon frise that I have been flying with for over a decade could not fly with me. She said "you can fly but your pet cannot" while smiling. Who smiles when someone is on the verge of tears? The manager was holding her coffee mug in both hands and continued to smirk at me as my heart went into my throat. When I booked the flight with American Airlines I wish I would have known what I was going to experience. I would never want someone to be treated in such a disgusting manner as I was. If my dog is too large for your Airline fine. It's weird since we have been flying together for over a decade but fine. Rules are rules. Just please do not tell me I cannot see my family for the holidays with a smile plastered all over your face. Grossest experience dealing with customer service I have ever had. That manager should be retrained on how to develop empathy or maybe AA should not hire non-empathic people for customer service gigs. Telling my elderly mom and nephew who is being deployed next week that I could not be home for Christmas was heartbreaking. I really really regret trying to fly with American Airlines because of the way I was treated by the person in charge today in GJT. Do not recommend it. read more

i liked AA from SEA TAC to HOU the plane was nice and clean and you got a little snack. The hosts were very cordial, there is an infotainment center with movies music and games and plane stats and navigational information which was very nice to explore. will fly again! read more

I use to not mind flying American Airlines. Now I am so mad they have lost my business. Why? The flight from Montrose was delayed due to closed runways in Phoenix, our end airport. This IS NOT a new problem!! It turns out, from reliable sources at Montrose airport that this is an almost everyday occurrence that the airline has known about for a while. The Phoenix airport delays flights to cut back on plane landings. Yet American Airlines continues to book flights to this airport at this particular time. Stranding passengers with absolutely NO HELP on either end as far as hotel accommodations. Then they told customers that once in Phoenix, the airport would give us a travel voucher.... LIES!!!! Then they had us board over an hour before our new schedule departure time, making us believe we may leave early... LIES!!!! This is horrible customer service. You all just want our $$$$$$!!!! read more
