Very Dishonest People. I'll start with the good, they do have decent cars at decent prices..but, beware, the cars may or may not have been thoughly checked out. The car I bought had very different tires and wheels in the on-line pictures than when I got there. They admitted to changing them out and all 5 didn't match. They tried to sell me on the changed options...NO. I sitlll have outstanding parts changes that they refuse to take care of even though they say, "no problem". I was working with Alan, two faced. When I asked for a copy of the vehicle inspection they supossedly performed, after telling me "no problem" at the negotiation table, Alan told me at the time of picking up my keys, "that is an internal document, sorry". Well, I discovered the rear shock had broken away from the mount at the top of the frame and it had bored a hole into the bottom of the car sheet metal. Do you think this would have been seen if an inspection had been done? Of course it would have, it's obvious that an inspection was never done. Months later they refuse to take care of other items that were promised at the negotiation table. Also, I had to drive about 30 minutes north to take delivery of my car, they didn't tell me this once I was ready to drive off the lot. Just stupid. I wouldn't refer this dealership to anyone. read more

BUYER BEWARE! Where do I even begin with these scumbags. Bought my assistant a 2003 range rover with 50k miles on it. These scumbags said its all checked out runs great blah blah blah. Well he went to pick it up and brought it down to San Diego for me to see. 18 grand later it actually ran half way decent. Brakes and I mean entire brake system, tires and a whole list of other things were wrong with it. Low and behold another 5k to fix the additional problems 10000 miles later. I kid you not buyer beware! These guys are scam artists and I hate leaving bad reviews. They buy junk at auctions then sell it to the general public. These guys should not be in business and it amazes me that the state of California would allow them to be in business. I should have known better and done my due diligence but I figured as big as they were they would tell the truth and be honest. Well I was wrong lesson learned. Whatever you do go somewhere else and you have been warned. They use autotrader and craigslist as their scam gateway. Shame on auto trader as well for allowing them to rip off the general public. I don't normally write review's, but I was so embarrassed by the salesman here, I felt I needed to. On 11/1/14, I visited the car lot directly across the street from American Auto. I didn't find anything and so I thought I would look at American Auto to see what they had. My family and I ventured over to American Auto and was greeted by "Tim". Tim seemed like a great guy. He even told us how he started 3 weeks ago, American Auto was going to be ran like a corporation and they had just gotten new shirts....We got a few prices on a few of the cars and then my son asked him if he had any cars under $5,000. He told us he had one and took us all the way to the other side of the lot and showed us a white stick shift truck. That was all they had under that price range and unfortunately, a stick shift truck isn't what I was looking for. I let him know that I was recently in a pretty bad auto accident and unfortunately, I didn't have much money to work with. He said he was sorry to hear that, he didn't want to waste our time and he turned around and just walked back to his office. I have never seen a salesman have that type of dimeanor after he figured he wasn't making a sale. He acutally was pouting. Sadly, how did he know I would never be back? He had no compassion for my situation and you could tell we wasted 10 minutes of his time. I acutally made sure to tell him his attitude sucked before I stormed out. NEWSFLASH TIM....your sales technique is awful and because of your attitude I will never even THINK about setting foot in this place and will be sure everyone I know is well aware. The two star rating goes directly to the dealership. The only good experience that I had at this dealership was a man named alan. He gave us a reasonable price and offered to fix all the damages that were on the car. The only thing that was a pain was the time I had to spend in order to get everything fixed. I bought the car about six months ago and I am still in the process of getting certain things fixed. If you do go to this dealership you have to be very firm and be very stern with your offers. I absolutely love this car dealer........ Allen was my salesmen.. He is AWESOME.. he never followed me around and pressured me.. he introduced himself and let me be.. when I had questions I went to him..... I ended up buying a 05 Mercedez CLK convertible.. I love this car.. I took it in about a month later to a place in Hesperia for an oil change.. they let me know that I had a small leak in the front end.. It ended up being a 1,000 fix.. well I got my car back and it was worse.. it pulled very hard to the left.. I took it back 3 times.. then I went to the dealership in Ontario and they had the car 3 times and claimed they fixed it.. it was still the same.. My husband and I were thinking of getting another car.. by this time a lot of time and effort went into this car not to mention money... My husband called Allen at American tire and he said bring it in........ he asked that I send all the work history slips I had on it .. he had the car for a month and figured out what everyone else couldn't figure out and fixed it .. IT felt like a miracle to me.. my car was finally fixed and running wonderful again.. I love that Allen gave me excellent customer service and I would buy another car there again for sure.. After much research, drove from the San Fernando Valley to visit this dealership because of an online ad showcasing a car that I have always wanted, a 2008 Infiniti G37S. Prior to my arrival, I had confirmed an appointment with Alan, who was very pleasant and friendly. I arrived on time to their lot and was promptly greeted by Alan. The car we had talked about was already parked out in front and was waiting for me. He gave me all the time in the world to look over the car, privately with my mother and sister who accompanied me, and even let us test drive it by ourselves. I knew this was the car I wanted and Alan and his finance manager, Mark, made it very easy. They provided me with great service and answered all the questions that I had for them. The final price was fair and Alan really helped out with some of the fees. The only downer is that I was supposed to receive a phone call the following business day to confirm the bank loan had gone through, but didn't hear from them. Regardless, I received all the right paperwork from Wells Fargo about two weeks later with the rate we had agreed to, and am now only waiting for a current registration card from the DMV. All in all, I am glad to have done business with American Auto in Fullerton. read more

I specifically went to their lot to test drive a black jeep wrangler and I was surprised at how many amazing high-end autos they had on the lot. I was so close to buying a Chevy Avalanche from this place, and when we settled on the price, A***n told me it would be $2000 MORE than we agreed upon. I also called this dealership on 8 different occasions, and their sales manager told me 8 different times that he would return my call, and not ONE was returned. My husband and I purchased our 18 year old daughter her first car in July 2013 (Volkswagen turbo convertible) from Allen. He was very friendly, however when we asked if it had damage to the front end b/c the front hood didn't line up on the right. He showed us a car fax which is useless b/c if accidents are not reported to insurance companies then it won't show up. They took it into the shop and said it was fixed. We left the dealership & I was driving it back to San Diego and had to stop halfway home because the temerature light came on. I called Allen & was told the connection was probably loose. I added coolent to be safe & continued home. Also had to tell him that the dashboard lights were not working. He said to bring it back and they would fix it. Long drive for a fuse to be replaced so we took care of it ourselves. The next day my husband went on a ride with our daughter in her new car and the front grill where the fog lights are fell off with the fog lights!! When we called about that, they asked if she was driving it too hard on bumps! Really???? Then the key would just spin in the ignition sometimes and it wouldn't start. We also had to replace a tire and a $150 light bulb. We were so concerned about her driving the car safety wise that we took my fathers advice and had the local Volkswagen dealership do a $250 inspection of the entire car. They found ZIP TIES holding parts of the car together and said that the 2nd gear in the transmission was about to go! My father-in-law is an attorney and talked to Allen in person about the situation. They agreed to fix it all, but we still had to pay them about $300 for our part! Don't understand why we needed to pay anything, but ok! We have continued to have nothing but problems and expense with this car along with my daughters heartbreak that her first car is a piece of garbage. There is no way that Allen and this dealership didn't know this car was in a front end accident (which the dealership here also verified). We feel so betrayed by this entire experience and would NEVER recommend any of our military friends or anyone else to trust American auto! We decided to just get rid of it after less than 8 months of headache. We paid $11,000 and now it's worth $5,000 not to mention the money we poured into the car while we had it!! We lost our butt on this deal! Money we didn't have to just throw away! You have been warned! Not only did we not get a dependable car for our daughter, but now we have a sunk cost of about $6,000! read more

I am a pleasant person...with a high sense of gratitude in life. I flew in to buy a low mile Audi TT that was carfax perfect. We talked by phone about 7 times. Salesman assured me this was excellent car. Assured me car was so good that I would write a good review on yelp. But the lies were all confirmed yesterday. Told me over phone...two keys.....but there was only one. Raised the price by $1,000 on my printed quote. Then changed the price on Internet the next day....today the price is lower again on Internet. He told me what repairs they did....Minor scratch damage....but hood was replaced and the entire front end of car was repainted....poorly done. Fender was bolted on and did not match original location. Told me oil was changed...was not...and obvious. The front wheel bearings were shot and very noisy. The motor vibrated so bad, the steering wheel shook violently... The motor was crooked in the car with a broken motor mount. And obvious. Obvious accident car...but didn't show on carfax. And I think they knew it. The showed me another TT that was so bad that you could not open the door with the key....and very few things worked. These people do not know cars....they lie. And lie. And lie. They do not care for the customer....as they will knowingly send you away with a car that they have done nothing with. If they do an inspection...it is minimal and done poorly. Carfax is not reliable source. They try to use it as their proof of goodness, beware! Very bad experience, very bad cars, very bad people. Salesman was very kind to pick me up from airport, but was almost hour and half late....told me traffic was nightmare....but I could see traffic on my iPhone, and ther was not traffic. I called him after half hour...he told me 7 to 10 mins.... But showed 40 mins later....when I got in his car he told me more lies. A pleasant salesman.....but has lost all sense of integrity! I would definitely recommend going elsewhere! THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Made a deal for $28,500 with the sales associate Oscar for a white 2013 Infiniti G37. Then I get call a few days later that the manager Mando refused the offer. So back to negotiation. The car was promised to have NO dents, No Scratches, No rock chips, No scratched rims, etc and that's "why" the price couldn't be lowered. So for a few hundred dollars more I agreed to $29,300 and was practically forced to leave a $300 deposit. Guess what...when I arrived at the dealership, the vehicle was not as promised. It had Numerous rock chips, not to mention the dealership tried to touch them up with a whole different color paint that didn't even match as if I wouldn't notice (horrible) and one of the rims was scratched. Total disappointment. Lies all lies just to try to make a sale. Then when I reminded them about my trade, they gave me a ridiculous proposal and wouldn't even take into consideration what Carmax offered. And we all know Carmax offers the Absolute lowest price on Earth! After all this dissatisfaction, I advise both Oscar and Mando that I had to think about it and respect goes out the window. Mando starts slouching, rolling his eyes at me, raises his voice, yells "then there's No Sale," refuses to refund my deposit, and walks away from me like a 5 year old. Then the sales associate Oscar still has the audacity to ask me if we still have a deal after he sat there quietly as he allowed Mando to humiliate me during business hours I may add. The next day, I receive a phone call from another manager Julio trying to mend the situation by offering me a new deal, a whopping 300 dollars more for my trade (still not what Carmax offered) and nothing less on the damaged vehicle. After the way I was poorly treated, I would never do business with them nor recommend ANYONE to go near their shop. I have yet to receive my 100% refundable deposit and the owners never called to apologize for Mando's poor behavior. These people would rather keep their vehicle then lower the price. STG Auto Group over prices their vehicles and offers you pennies for your trade. They are dishonest, disrespectful, and do not take responsibility for their associates actions. read more

They sold me a lemon!!!! I would not recommend this place, I would have given it 0 stars. I went in looking for a 2006 Chevy Equinox that I saw online. When I went in to check it everything looked good. Now I don't know much about cars and that is why I decided to buy from a used dealer instead of from the street. I bought the car and the next day the starter would not work. I called the dealer and they came to pick the car up for repair. About two weeks after I got the car back I started to hear what sounded like water was running behind the dashboard. I called the dealer and they had me bring the car in for repair (this was right before Christmas). I told manager that I couldn't be without a car because I have kids,so he had me go all the way from downtown la to their dealer, to pick up a rental. When we got there the sales man came to pick us up from the train station and ran over my boyfriends foot. After we got home we realized the old rental didn't have back seat belts (so it was useless to me). When I was called to come back for the car after Christmas and I was told that the car had no problem. I gave up taking the car in and decided to look for answers elsewhere. I took it to sears auto care and they told me that the sound I was hearing was of water running to the engine. By the time I found out there was no way for me to return the car and they wouldn't fix it because they only give a month warranty. The estimated cost for repair was around 1,000! I called a few lawyers to ask if I could sue them because they sold me a lemon and since day one the car had given me problems, but I was told the lemon law only covers cars that have been out for at least 4 years. Because the equinox was a 2006 I could not do anything about it. Since I was affair of driving the car like that and I didn't have an extra $1,000 to spend at that time, I had no other choice but to turn the car into a Toyota dealer and lease a car. In the end I was screwed because I had to pay $5,000 negative equity in order to lease a good car and I lost the 2,000 I had already given American Auto as a downpayment for the equinox. The way this place took advantage of me by selling me a lemon is horrible. They only cared about making money regardless of who they screwed over. read more

I still love the car, but, they told us that the license fees were just paid and we would not have to worry about paying them. Hence that was considered in making the deal. They also gave us only one key and said that was all they had. After reading other reviews, after the purchase of course, I read that this common. We did not ask further so I do not know if we would have been offered a second key at a cost! I just got off the phone with them beause I never received my plates, but I did get a bill in the mail for the license fees. Well, come to find out the plates were on the car all the time, they were behind their little advertisement plate. Funny how no one told us that when we bought the car. We were led to believe that they had just paid the license fees, that they would come to us in the mail. Wrong, we will be paying them within the first 6 months of owning the car. After reading the other reviews, I am a bit worried about the mileage. I am hoping that since we had bought our own car record for it before going to see it, that the mileage was reported correctly. Here is to hoping that I do not end up with a car that will be a problem. Avoid this place because their integrity is non-existent.
