We chose Chinook Lumber expecting a reputable local company. While initial communication was…read moreresponsive, the experience after installation has been deeply disappointing. Within a short time of our deck being completed (June 2024), boards along the center divide--added at Chinook's recommendation--as well as at the ends began lifting. This has created an uneven surface and a clear tripping hazard. The decking is also starting to "dish," raising concerns about the quality of the installation and its durability. What's been most frustrating is how this has been handled. Follow-up has been slow, timelines have been vague, and there has been little urgency despite the safety concern. The proposed fixes feel like temporary workarounds rather than a proper solution. We approached this in good faith, but there's a reasonable expectation that a company stands behind its work when something goes wrong. That has not been our experience. At this point, we are seeking an independent third-party inspection to determine responsibility before proceeding further, which is not a step we expected to have to take. It's disappointing to write this, because we truly wanted this project to go well. But based on our experience, I would urge others to carefully consider not just the installation itself, but the level of support and accountability you may receive afterward.

Not one person has apologized we have 2 dogs in a hot work van and the person who approached actually implied that my boyfriend was supposed to have retrieved the items located inside the store. We have not received our custom orders yet, since enough time has not passed for the special orders to come in, so the review is based on customer service alone I cannot say enough nice things about Tom and the customer service received. He has gone above and beyond in getting my orders placed and making sure everything was just right for the custom orders. He has made multiple trips out to my home on very short notice (like next or same day) to double check measuring in order to get proper quotes. Each time he brings my two dogs biscuits and has been nothing but quick, kind and professional. I will definitely be using Frontier for future building/renovations needs because of this.

Super hady location away from the congested part of Mount Vernon, and I never have to wait for someone to help me, and if there is a part that my contractor tells to get and I have no idea what it even is, they always put two and two together for me and send me home with the right thing. After multiple conversations with the salesperson at MVBC regarding the project, and considering the products available, the order was placed for my untreated metal panels, which I was assured would rust quickly. The materials were delivered in a timely manner, but construction was delayed due to months of bad weather. When we were finally able to complete construction we discovered that the panels were galvanized - exactly what i did NOT want, which is why I went to MVBC for this special order instead of just buying far lest costly galvanized roofing panels at any big box store. When I contacted MVBC to discuss the matter, she confirmed that she ordered galvanized panels because that was the only option. None of which was mentioned to me in our several earlier conversations, and her only other comment was "Well, I'm no expert on metal." {!!). Well then I recommend you put someone on the order desk who DOES know what they're talking about, because I now have five huge problems on my hand that I did not create and no way to solve.
