Got a masala chai latte and a anise biscotti. The biscotti was delicious, but the chai is lukewarm and doesn't have much flavor. Overall disappointing. My daughter got an iced coffee that tastes bitter, weak and generally like old coffee. This is our first time coming to this location so we may try again, but nothing today pulls me to go back. We were pretty excited to go, too! Darn. Never going here again. Recently I went here during their supposed business hours but the door was locked. The owner then came outside to tell us she's closed because she can't find workers. Unprofessional to be closed when you're supposed to be open and doubtful about workers (just a hunch: perhaps you're not paying them enough?). The last time I went here, my friend and I bought $50 worth of items. The cashier told us that the parking spots (15 min spots) are only for grab and go customers. I said we won't be there (at a table) for long. Ten minutes later, the owner approached us without greeting us or showing appreciation for our business to tell us that the cashier already spoke to us and those spots are for her customers (like we aren't customers) and if they don't see spots they won't come in. We soon left. I will never go there again. Rude owner, overpriced baked goods, and the coffee could be better considering it's a roastery. Note to management: treat your customers like crap and your business will close soon. Clearly you're already on your way out. This was a super lovely breakfast experience with a dear friend--a native and a local. She's GF and slightly cautious, so this was a good option for her in terms of GF muffins and other pastries. I had one myself and it has heavenly, along with a satisfying latte. The owner was also very friendly (Israeli) and chatted us up, as well as made the good recommendation. I've been going here for a couple years, once or twice a week. Everything American Bulldog Coffee Roasters brews and bakes is made with the highest quality ingredients. The owners will tell you their coffees are about 90% organic and their baked goods are ALL ORGANIC. You will taste that too. Gluten intolerance? Bulldog has a large variety of gluten free baked goods, and all are amazing with a hot coffee. The espresso is excellent too. They'll also make some things to order, so if you need something exceptional for a party, like a 10 layer Italian cheese cake or some other dream dessert, you can ask them. Their barista's are highly experienced, attentive, friendly and in general sharp folks. The store is cool with antiques and unique old items and they have some outdoor seating. My brother, boyfriend, and I ran over here quickly (after visiting this location and the Ridgewood location plenty of times) before we had to catch a train. My brother ordered a flat white and paid with a card. He tapped the small square card reader and was not presented with the screen for a chance to tip, or a choice for a printed or text receipt, as some coffee places do. I then ordered two scones and did the same--tapped my card and that was that. I wasn't given a receipt, nor was I given the choice to have one. I did not think anything of it, but perhaps I should have. Maybe a week or so later, my brother calls me to tell me he was looking over his bank statement and was charged SEVEN. TEEN. DOLLARS. $17!!!!!!! for a FLAT WHITE!!!!! I was baffled and decided to check my statement and I was charged almost $15 for two scones. I could almost excuse that...maybe it's some artisanal bullsh*t but by NO STRETCH of the imagination can I justify why a FLAT WHITE (it's literally like a 5-6 oz drink) would cost $17. Now as I said, he was NOT presented with the chance to tip, so it can't be chalked up to fat fingers on the screen accidentally typing in too large of a number. He also was not given a receipt--duh! They didn't want him to know that they were ACTUALLY stealing from him. and probably from me too. I cannot say how DISGUSTED I am with this business, literally stealing money from unsuspecting customers. So I love muffins yet I find it so hard to find a good one. Some may look good, but they taste blah. Until I walked into American Bulldog Cofffee. I was here a few weeks ago and had a lemon blueberry muffin that was so good I couldn't believe it. So I came back and sure enough it was just as good as the first time. This time I also tried a sunshine muffin that was filles with sunshine and delicious. Usually when you eat a muffin, once past the top the base is dry and you never really enjoy. Not these, the base is just as good as the top. As I only had their coffee once, it was so good and went perfect with my muffin. The atomsohere is as good as the muffins. Definitely the best coffee in Ramsey! This place is so cute and such great vibes, and it's always pretty slow so it's a great place to come do work and have a peaceful afternoon. The baristas are always super nice. Only complaint would be that this place is suuuper pricey ($7 for a muffin?!) however I know these are tough times. If I could give zero stars I would. This establishment has a sign on the door stating customers are required to wear a mask when entering the cafe. This is NJ law. I walked in wearing my mask and was "greeted" by a man behind the counter wearing a mask below his chin. I kindly reminded him to put his mask up and he refused. "AND SO WHAT ABOUT MY MASK?!" the mans voice boomed at me. Was extremely rude and unwelcoming to me as a customer. The disrespect was clear. I wished him a nice day and walked out without purchasing and will never return again. I went in today for the first time right before closing. The man (owner? Sorry didn't get his name) was super nice and even though he was taking apart the coffee machine he quickly put it back together to make me a delicious iced latte with soy milk. I also tried the vegan breakfast bar which is absolutely phenomenal. Tastes like a whole lot of goodness and deliciousness in one bar- Nuts, seeds, chocolate, I don't even know ...it's just phenomenal... loved the super friendly and kind service and I look forward to going back to try some more of the vegan sweets!
