Custom mix in ice cream joint Opening day, and the line is manageable. Decided to try their almondmilk ice cream option, with peanut butter, almonds, and banana. Owner literally mixed my ice cream on the fly on their anti-griddle. Scooped it up and served. Isn't the first time I've seen this. Cold stone is one of the pioneers of this method and their ice cream is serviceable. Opening day!! Staff were very friendly and efficient. Overall very standard ColdStone Location, clean and small but great outdoor seating area that they share with Starbucks. I think this a great option for mix-in ice cream. read more

Decided to stop in for a little sweet treat. Was very happy with the choices of ice creams, I sampled and purchased the love it size banana ice cream and mix in of chocolate chips. It was amazing. The worker was great that helped me greeted me with a smile and was very helpful with answering my questions. Of course per usual Coldstone smells heavenly when you walk in. This location doesn't have much in door seating but plenty patio seating, and it is right next to Starbucks. This was my first time at this location and I will definitely be back! read more

I stopped in the Store in East Windsor, CT. Very excited for my possible coffee ice cream with a few add in's - thinking of heath bar, dark chocolate shavings, \dark chocolate chips/ espresso chips... The coffee sample was marginal, like say old Mr coffee single drip at Motel. Thought it would have deeper flavor. What I wanted was not available, but the clerk was very helpful and offered me added chocolate shavings instead of chocolate chips on Sweet Cream which I sampled and liked. Very nice . What kind of chocolate do you use? Not my type. Were I to return I would get Sweet Cream on a crunchy cone and call it a day. read more

I went here the other night, it was so delicious!! The ice cream is the best ice cream I've had in a while, I would highly recommend it! The woman that helped us she was very nice and we had quite a lard ordered and she was very sweet about it the whole time!! It's small but very clean and nice in there also! read more

When I went in there it took ages, I waiting for at least 30 minutes. When I got up to order the person taking my order was so rude, she didn't even say hello she just stared at me. And when my ice cream was handed to me it was already melted and there was a hair inside the ice cream. I am beyond disappointed in Cold Stone I was so excited for them to open. I guess not. Visited on the opening day! Owner was pretty friendly and suggested to try kulfi flavor with Oreo. It was a delicious combo. Staff was friendly and were pro in crowd management. Looking forward to return in future read more

What was the best was it was ice cream. You get to choose 2 flavors out of the 4 they give you to select and they prepare it in advance so the cake is firm for you to decorate it. There are a few steps that you complete to have your master piece to have and take home. The items you decorate w are supplied. It's a lot of fun and they are having another class is on Saturday, February 8th for Valentines. The other locations are also having classes. You can go on Eventbrite. The price is $25 pp. thanks to Ben & Jerry's for having such a cool event to do. You won't be disappointed.

What I got I can only really equate to frozen cool whip. It was oddly cool but not cold, airy and sugary sweet. My guess is that they use lots of stabilizers and whip the heck out of it to keep it from melting as quickly. But that also makes the ice cream taste cheap, hence the cool whip reference. Or are you more of a free range snacker who grazes on cookies and pastries whenever the mood strikes? At our place, we've somehow drifted into the habit of having a bakery item most nights. Could be a cookie. Could be a pastry. Could be a slice of something. All this brings me to yesterday's visit to the Hartford Baking Company in South Windsor, where we are now pretty well stocked for a week's worth of upcoming desserts, and maybe a breakfast or two. They have four locations in the Greater Hartford area, all selling the same amazing product line of bread, ciabatta, and rolls. But for the sweet tooth fiends out there, well get psyched for their scones, muffins, Walnut Coffee Cake, Financiers (a French almond cookie), brownies and bars, cookies, biscotti, shortbreads, Danish, Cinnamon buns, Pecan-Walnut Sticky Buns, Brioche Pastries, fruit tarts, and quiches. We were running errands in South Windsor yesterday, popped into Hartford Baking, and walked out with a bounty of wonderful looking goodies- brownies, a croissant, a chocolate banana muffin, a rectangular Financier, and a slice of coffee cake. We should be set for a while in the dessert department. I had the Financier last night, and never having heard of the word before, I consulted the old Google machine for some research and found a very cool origin-story. In the late 1800's there was a pastry shop located near the Paris Stock Exchange. The shop sold very popular small almond cakes that were baked in small rectangular molds resembling gold bars. They were a hit with the busy bankers who frequented his shop. The name "financier" stuck because of both the clientele and the gold bar shape. I have to tell ya, that Financier was amazing. It was dense and delicious and overflowing with almond flavor. I loved it. I also had a teense of the Banana Muffin this morning, and it was excellent as well. Loved that banana flavor and those chocolate chips. OK, so file away "Hartford Bakery" on your short list of "must visit" dessert destinations, because I assure you that you'll walk out a satisfied customer.
