I don't get to Old Shell road often but when I was around that area I spotted American Deil. I think I've seen American Deli in the mall but I wasn't sure I've had anything from there. I went in and there were a few people in the restaurant but it wasn't crowded. I decided to get the beef Philly cheesesteak. I got fries and a coke to go with it. The lady at the register said I could get wings as a side. I didn't know that was an option but I know for next time. It took a few minutes for my order to get ready and I left for home. The first thing I tried were the fries. They were ok but nothing special. They were the slender crinkle cut fries. The cheesesteak on the other hand was delicious. DO NOT EAT HERE. They are beyond rude and dismissive. I inquired about the bun on my burger and was abruptly told "it's toasted". It was not toasted, IT'S OLD. It's been frozen and thawed. When you pay over $16 for a burger and fries, you expect, at the very least, to get decent bread. This place is a dive. When I tried to call and again address it, the phone rang off the hook and now it goes to VM stating they're busy. While I was waiting for this order, someone else came up to the counter and said "this isn't good, I don't want it" and handed the food back to the person behind the counter. Another fast food restaurant in Mobile that isn't fast. My wife and I stopped there to get a quick bite before picking up our grandson, and it took five ever for them to prepare our food while we waited in dingy lobby at an unwiped table. The floor was a little sticky in places and it just felt really unclean. I settled on the gyro, while my wife chose the burger. From the time we paid for our order, it took nearly 30 minutes to get it. And we waited while people who came in after us got their food and left. It was maddening, because we were late to pick up our grandson. We were the last people left in the lobby when we got our food, and so we took it to go. My wife ate her burger in the car and said it was pretty good. I was driving, so I had to wait until I got home to eat my gyro. When I got to eat it about 20 minutes later, I definitely did not enjoy it. There was something unnaturally sour either in the feta cheese or the tziki sauce, and there was way too much lettuce on it. It was just not good. The portion of food I received was larger than I expected it was made to order. The ladies behind the counter were very nice and smiled the entire time. When your food is done they box it up and show it to you to make sure that it is to your specifications. The staff members are great and hard-working. The only time I've ever had a bad experience was when I received the wrong thing in my to-go order, but I blame that on my husband since they show you your order before you leave in case anything is wrong. My family loves wings from American Deli! I'm glad to have one closer to home. This new location is clean and bright. The cashier was courteous in helping us choose a combo the right size. We ordered our food and without a terrible wait we were walking out with our food. It was still steaming hot once we arrived at home. We ate every wing with no leftovers. We got lemon pepper wings with all flats at a small $.50 up-charge. We will be back to this location soon for some more lemon-pepper "wangs". read more

American Deli has to be one of my favorite places to get wings. They are usually fast and the food is always good and on point. My favorite wings are the lemon pepper, extra wet! I am just gonna go ahead and say. The food is good but the staff needs some work. They were rude, and when I asked if they could change my wings to boneless instead of boned. They both turned to the chef or the guy in the back. And stared at him until he put the boned in and THEN told me that "sorry he already dropped them". I will NEVER patron American Deli on Old Shell Rd again, I placed a pick up order at 7:18 went in to pick it up at 7:45, we still sitting there after 8:15, mind you people have walked in and placed orders and have come and gone, we finally get up to see what the hold up on our food, they haven't even started cooking it, so we asked for some sort of compensation for our wait, all the Manager Angela kept saying was "I sorry" and the cook was like "we cook or not" so we asked for a refund, I asked for her managers name and number because that's just awful customer service, so she gives me "Tom" who works at the Bel Air Mall location, do I call Tom and speak with him, he's rude and tries to offer me a free six piece for my trouble, as I proceeded to get my point across, he hangs up on me, now what Manager hangs up on a customer as they are lodging a complaint about one of their locations.
