This place is horrible I was dealihng with them for a year I paid money to them for a procedure I never got on top of that they'd charge my insurance and everytime i went they'd never got anything done.i asked for 1 money back and they refused I gave them cash told me I have to wait 3 weeks. My experience here was horrible. I had a 4pm appointment and was called shortly after 4pm to take x-rays. I did not see the dentist until about 5:30pm. I don't recall his name, but he is the tall Hispanic dentist. He was pleasant until he walked off to look at my x-rays. He called a colleague over, and they spoke about my x-rays in Spanish, which I speak and understand, and both of them were laughing about how deep one of my cavities are. At this point I was so uncomfortable that I almost got out of the chair and left, but I at least wanted my teeth cleaned after leaving work early and waiting an hour and a half. When he returned, he made comments about how I have to stop eating sugar and "snacking all day long". He proceeded to do the quickest cleaning ever. After the cleaning, he stated that I will need a couple of root canals, and again stated that I have to stop snacking all day long, drink more water and eat more veggies. He then handed me a paper to give to the front desk and walked away. He never once asked me if I have any pain (which I do), nor did he ask if I have any questions at all. I have never been made to feel so uncomfortable and belittled by a dentist. For him to laugh at my x-rays, speak a different language under the assumption that I would not understand and make assumptions about my dietary habits is very unprofessional. Dental professionals should know that people avoid going to the dentist for a myriad of reasons, and to be treated this way is unacceptable. read more

Although the dentist are good the customer service is horrendous. I have tried to reach management about a refund for several weeks, with no response. I understand i may not get refund but it is only customary to return emails and messages when a paying customer needs to resolve an issue. Brought my elderly Mom here for an appt and even though she is wheelchair-bound, and can be stubborn the team at National helped us out. Glady was kind enough to accommodate us on a weekend which helped me. When we arrived, Ana at the front desk was patient and made us feel welcome. My Mom had extractions done by Dr. Mark and he was very gentle and respectful. Everyone treated my Mom like she was their own mother. read more

Before making an appointment I search high and low for a dental office that would accept my lame insurance. I couldn't find anything other than the two schools. So I decided to try this place because I just need a cleaning and confirmation that my crowns are good, because I am a princess. I arrived at 1:50pm. The office was a bit run down, but they had a kiddie area and a TV which kept the kids away from me and entertained. Around 2:10pm I asked the person behind the desk if I needed to fill anything out since I as a new patient. She answered "oh yeah". A doctor came out and asked why her patients weren't registered. The same person behind the desk informed her that everyone was at lunch, so she was just sitting there answering the phone and not doing registration or admissions. I listened to this conversation with intrigue. A few minutes pass and someone else comes to the desk and is startled because so many patients are there and she wasn't told. "But you were on break" "yes, but I could have done this so we stayed on track". I'm impressed. Slowly other staffers start coming back and I think back to the days when I worked in the service industry, rule one is you don't send your entire team on break together! so now it is 2:30pm and there are 6 patients in front of me. I go to the desk and in full sentences as what's happening with my appointment. They are baffled by the use of proper English. I am told I should be called soon for xrays. 2:45pm I am called for xrays. At 3:00pm I go back to the desk. "Excuse me my appointment was at 2pm. What is the problem? Oh, you should be seen soon, you have already been xrayed. 3:23pm. I had an appointment at 2pm. I arrived at 1:50pm and I need to know exactly when I will be seen and what the hold up is. Um. No, not um. Who am I seeing? what is the holdup? what is my expected wait time? I have another appointment this afternoon, and am now running late. Reluctantly three staffers uncover that my dentist is behind because he is working on two crowns. Not my problem. Who else can I see? this is my first visit so I have no emotional attachment to one doctor. I just need a cleaning and checkup. How long is this taking? well, he's running late and the cleaning depends on how your teeth are. GIVE ME and average. 15 minutes. So, I'm waiting and unknown amount of time to then wait more time? This conversation made my head hurt. And I sat there baffled. Because now it is 3:45pm and I have accomplished nothing. Another patient leaves because as he said "I ain't got time for this". I am then allowed to get my cleaning and then taken to the doctor. The cleaning was very painful. I get them regularly and have never felt so much tenderness after. I let her know that one of my medications makes me bleed, my gauze was super bloody. Luckily the cleaning was short. I am taken to the back where the doctor sees me for 2 minutes. I counted. Overall impressions. Patient comfort is not a priority. Most painful cleaning I've ever had. Mismanagement of scheduling. Poor front office management. They need to order face covers, I don't want to be covered in tooth stuff when I leave. I wasn't giving a face cover, glasses or a shield. They need to stagger lunch breaks. You can't send everyone away, and then be shocked by the delay it causes for patients. They need to be more proactive. If a doctor is running late, inform the patient, get them their cleaning DO something. read more

This place is horrible. I was on time for my appointment. It took me 2 hours before I saw the dentist, just for him to turn around and give me a referral to see a specialist. The front desk workers are lazy, slow, inconsiderate, non-informative (until you ask) and rude. Their Hygenist is aggressive and has "bed-side" manners. My teeth are sensitive and instead of her being sensitive to that matter, she made it a negative against me. My daughter had a visit and the next day I needed some information from them that the insurance provided me with. The lady at the front desk had the nerve and audacity to question why I didn't get this taken care of when I came. Only Jesus knew that she was lucky I wasn't at the location at that moment. The company as a whole is good but the Bronx Location on Grand Concourse sucks. I've been to the location in the city, on 30th or 31st street. They are more professional and courteous. I have not been to the dentist since 2015. I am terrified of the dentist. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Dr. Watkins is absolutely amazing. He made me feel comfortable. I have never been to a dentist that has given me an injection that i did not feel until today. The tech. that assisted me comforted me. I am embarrassed to say my heart was racing once i was in the chair she assured me that everything would be ok. I start crying immediately once it came time for me to be seen. It could not be other place more ghetto than this dental clinic . Dr Wlkins is so careless ,looks so sloppy and lack of professionalism. He had me waiting for a root procedure for 4 hours , this was supposedly done on the previous visit. There were no records of what he did or had to be re done for the second time . Front desk is ok but still need more organization. The only worthy staff there is the hygienist . She does really good job. Lastly, I found a roach on the room I was without been "visible " for three different staff coming in and out of the room.. read more

I am giving a 1-star because there is nothing below that. If I am allowed I will give this place negative star. Please do not go to this place. They will report what you have not done to your insurance and get paid without your knowledge. They will make your service so long like 2-4 months period what they can do within 2 weeks so they have you to fund them the entire time. When they give you an appointment and you are there, they are still asking you why are you here, who ask you to come. When you remind them they say to you, you shouldn't have been here because the doctor is not going to be hear until maybe 1 or 2 hours later. Then they keep you in the doctors room for another one hour all alone by yourself. Please and please if you love yourself and care about your loved ones, this is not a place to go AT ALL. read more

You know I don't like writing negative reviews about any business but I've decided that today will be my last visit here. The unprofessionalism here is concerning. Not only do I feel like just a number or one more patient but I don't feel that welcoming environment here. Either the staff in the front can't communicate very well, or they have communication channels are not very effective. Every single time I try to make an appointment, the phones are not answered or like it happened today, they could not locate my chart and that tuned into an hour and a half wait. After asking the receptionist if it was taking longer because it was my first visit, she said, no, it depends on how many people are "registered" in front of me. I'm writing this review because American Dental Bronx location has been getting a bad rap. Any dentist office that accepts insurances will have issues getting things approved. I have been going to American Dental Bronx location for the past 10 years, yes we had our ups and downs, back and forth about my concerns. Overall the manager at this location has tried her best to accommodate my concerns, she has showed a great concerns about my dental needs, she's very knowledgeable and willing to listen instead of telling me what I need. Most dental offices want to tell you in stead of listening. I hear a lot of people complain about the staff at this location but sometimes you can't pick and choose you employees you do the best with what you have. The manager at this location shouldn't be getting blamed for the long wait times and sometimes unfriendly staff, we are going through tough times and need to have more patience read more

This place by far gave me the worst dental experience of my life. It's because of places like this that people are afraid or don't feel comfortable going to the dentist. I was very happy with my dentist until they decided not to take my insurance anymore. I had already obtained an authorization for a root canal from my regular dentist so based upon a recommendation I scheduled my appointment in American Dental. Big mistake! I explained to them my situation that I already had the authorization in place and asked them if they needed my x-rays from my regular dentist to which they said no. They said they had to take new x-rays to submit another authorization request. The dentist an Asian man then proceeded to mess with another filling (not the reason for my visit) and poured some bitter substance on my lip which burned my upper and lower lip leaving me with broken skin which hurt by the way. Then I was told by the dentist to sit in the waiting area to be called on. After sitting for an hour foolishly I asked the receptionist how long would it take for me to be seen only for her to tell me sorry the dentist made mistake to tell me to have a seat because he had left already. So I wait patiently for another authorization and schedule my appointment all this time I'm having pain. When I schedule my appointment which the earliest they could do was one month later I get a call the day before the procedure to tell me that the dentist who was supposed to do my work left the country (gasp). Then she proceeded to tell me that they have another clinic in White Plains New York which is very far and I should call them to see if they can do something for me. Smh. To make matters worse now I got a bill in the mail from them for the x-rays they took lol which now I have to pay because they don't even have enough courtesy since I didn't get anything done with them to void. Save yourself a headache this place also has antiquated equipment. I wish I could give it zero stars. read more

This by far is thee worst dentist I've ever been to. First off, in my 2 years of having braces with them I've seen 3 different dentist because they can't keep a dentist. The dentist who initially put my braces on told me whenever it's time to remove them to make sure they cut a piece of my gum that hung between my gap, because It would force my gap to open back up if I didn't. She ended up leaving, and they had a new dentist take my braces off. I told him I need the piece of my gum cut, he said no I didn't, that I would be fine. Took my braces off. I wore my retainers everyday as told, once I was out the time period that I didn't have to wear my retainers outside I realized that by me having my retainers off for even just a few hours that my gap would open back a little & I would have to close It back with the retainer every night. I eventually lost my retainers, called the dentist & explained my situation, and they scheduled me to come in a month later. By then my gap was opened back fully. 2 years off braces for nothing. That's when I met the third dentist, explained the situation, who then told me that my first dentist was right, that my gum should have been cut. He even explained to the staff that worked there that they are at fault, and that I should get braces again for 6 months so my gap can close, and cut my gum, free of charge since they are at fault. They told me they would contact my insurance and they would call me back. They never did. I called them everyday and everyday they gave me an excuse. I finally walked in one day with my father, they said they would call me back. They did about a week later and asked to speak to him and refused to speak to me ( mind you I was 24 at the time) and nothing was solved. I just waste my money. Also I did zoom whiting with them after my braces and my teeth never whitened. By far the worst dental experience I've ever had, I would give them 0 starts but 1 was the lowest option. Also, the staff is so rude and nasty, if you're not happy at your job find a new one. Miserable group of women. read more

I wish had research and read the reviews for this place on yelp first before enduring this. I had gotten a letter from my insurance telling me that this place American Dental Office would be the only denialist that I can go to that would be insured no place else. I thought the letter odd but didn't question it its been awhile since my last dental appointment though due to old insurance gone I couldn't go my old dental office but I wanted someplace close by and that would take my insurance. So I called made an appointment for 2:30. Got to the office before 2:30 about 1:50 sign in filled out some papers then waited. I waited for about thirty minutes until a nurse called me and took x rays of my teeth then I was putt back in the waiting room. another thirty to forty five minute wait I began to find it odd that there was such a wait but being my first visit i thought maybe that was to be expected. finally call me to the back sit me in the chair and put the napkin that they attach with a chain around my neck and told me the dentist will be with me. yet again another thirty to forty five minute wait now I was getting annoyed nurses walking by bit no one apologizing for the long wait. finally the dentist comes ask me what I wanted said a routine check up, so he checked my teeth told me I'm good no cavities and would have me wait for a cleaning. once again sat in the waiting room by now it was five it was dark, I said duck it rescheduled for the cleaning and left. was so annoyed that I had to wait and wait for so long just for a check up. And what I notice which I don't know if this is normal but it seem like there was only one dentist and just a bunch of nurses. Where were the other dentist to help, there were about ten patients with me in the waiting room. today I cancel the cleaning appointment called my insurance and made a new appointment at another dentist office near me which hopefully is more better and professional then American dental. I don't know how the patient there deal with having to wait and wait with no apologies and no reasons for why the long wait but I can't go through that again. I am a patient person but still for a check up it shouldn't take three hours. Avoid this place some place else. read more
