They keep raising their prices and they have the worst customer service ever. They charged me for an extra pickup (large item) in advance. They never picked up the item and told me that the pickup charge was applied to my due balance for service. Then, on the next bill, the charge for the non-pickup was back. I was told that they would not refund the amount because I didn't call right away. *** Update on December 2, 2018 - I used to be able to call the Commercial number and actually get a representative to not only answer the phone but actually help get someone over to pick up my trash. Well, apparently that has changed and they cannot help residential accounts. Every time I call the residential number I am caller number 30-something. Every time. This is absolutely ridiculous! Once my trash is hopefully picked up this week (after two weeks of it not being picked up), I'm cancelling. Sometimes our trash & recycling gets picked up on Thursdays, some days it's Fridays, other days it's the following week. Some weeks our trash gets picked up but not the recycling; other times it's the other way around. Every time I have tried to call for questions, I get stuck on hold for at least twenty minutes; of course, without a way of leaving a message. Definitely do not recommend this service unless they change some things. I understand things happen, but at least have someone answer the phone once and awhile. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would have. If you are looking for reliable home trash disposal do yourself a favor and look for a different company. We had several issues with this company- namely missed pickup days, delayed pick up days. If they emailed to let us know the email was sent the day of and usually late in the day. Then we would have to haul our trash bin back up to the house and try again the next day. Sometimes we waited more than 1 or 2 days for the pickup. This happened on a regular basis which is why we decided to look for another disposal company. When we cancelled our service with them, they hadn't picked up our trash in 2 weeks! We made sure we were at the beginning of a billing cycle and cancelled. They have been trying to collect that next billing cycle payment ever since then and now are threatening to turn it over to a collection agency. Robbery in its finest form. I will be paying the bill to stop the threat but I will not stop warning people about this company. Look at Trash Taxi , better rates and great service so far. I am writing this email with regards to an incident that happened this morning 1/18/23 between an American Disposal garbage man and myself. It happened at around 8:30 this morning. While I was inside my house, we began hearing a very loud truck horn being continuously leaned on. When I went outside, an American Disposal garbage truck was in front of our house. Our neighbors are having some work done on their house, so there were some work trucks parked legally and properly on the side of the street. Apparently, this garbage man was unhappy about this. While he could have easily gone around them (these neighbors do not use American so the trucks were not impeding his ability to pick up any trash cans), he thought it best to cause a scene and show his displeasure by leaning on his horn for over the course of a minute. I went outside and motioned for him to please stop doing this as it was extremely loud and we had our newborn baby sleeping. I asked him to perhaps get out and speak to the men rather than continuing to blast his horn at them. He proceeded to ask me in a very hostile manner' "What'd you say to me?!" and I repeated myself. He then unbelievably got out of his truck, and as he began walking toward me in my driveway yelled at me to "come over here tough guy and say that to my face." He was challenging me to actually come physically fight him. It was at that point that my wife came out to get me inside, as she could see the situation had gotten bizarrely out of hand and was escalating quickly. I took down the truck number and began calling American Disposal to report what was an obviously insane and utterly unbelievable incident from one of their employees who was on the job. While I was on hold, my wife wisely convinced me to hang up due to this gentleman being a clearly unhinged individual who now knew where we lived. So I didn't report the incident due to the fact that it could have potentially put my family in danger were this unwell gentleman to get fired and decide to retaliate on my family. We left American Disposal over a year ago due to their rising costs and consistent ineptness across the board (missing trash pickups for multiple weeks in a row and still charging full price, I responsiveness and rude employees), but never would I have imagined that they would employ an individual such as this person. So, just wanted to inform all of you of this incident and also warn you of this disturbed employee. I hope the amount of time and effort you can see I've put into writing this entire review is enough to dissuade you from ever giving this company your money. They should have been shut down for breach of contract, amongst many other things, years ago. read more

If there was a choice to give this company a negative rating, it would be my pleasure to do so. I came home from work one afternoon to discover than my trash container had been removed. Calls to the Atlanta location were impossible because I received only "out of service" messages on the number. I emailed and their response was that my account had been cancelled due to non-payment of the bill. I provided proof, including the bank confirmation number of the payment, and they have yet to acknowledge receipt of the payment. Their customer service representative, Leah, has not even bothered to email me after repeated emails to confirm the payment. It has been almost three weeks since they took my trash bin, and I have had no service, nor have they returned the trash container. I have paid my bill. They have my money. I have no trash container or garbage collection. I have bags of trash outside my garage, and this is both unsightly and unpleasant. I am actively looking for another trash service. I had to call them today- only 2nd time since I set up service 22 years ago. The hold time message was a bit frightening - kept saying the expected hold time was up to 60 minutes. But my hold time was only 8 minutes. I see where others said they never pick up the phone- at a Utility type company 8 minutes is not a bad wait- I've waited a lot longer at the power company before. I have always has good service with them - never had a big issue. I didn't give them 5 stars only because we had a broken can they supply and it took them about 6 weeks to replace it. Nope. I've had no issues with this service, other than the super sneaky $10 price increase, but whatever....UNTIL yesterday. The guys just TOOK our trash can. They didn't let us know - just took it. We saw the truck come by, 20 minutes later, my husband went out to bring the cans back down the driveway, and our trash can was gone - recycling still there. I called customer service immediately, but they were closed (thanks to their late night pickup schedule). I just got off the phone with them now, and I'm told they cannot get me a trash can until they confirm with the crew that they, in fact, took our trash can which apparently cannot happen until next Wednesday. Meaning, I have six days of trash to pile up before I can even get a confirmation of what I already know, and that's before I can even have a new can requested. If I cancel my American Disposal service and reinitiate to get a can faster, they will charge ME $100 for the previous can being "lost." This is UNACCEPTABLE service. They suggested we pile up SIX days of trash on the curb, in our neighborhood that's under a Homeowners Association, with coyotes, rabbits, raccoons, cats, dogs, chipmunks, probably a rat or two...and just leave it there. For six days. I ask the management of this ridiculous company if that's a solution they would sit with if it were suggested to them as a consumer....probably not. Absolutely appalling service. In June, I complained because I found my full yard bag run over in the middle of the street. Fast forward to last Thursday... I signed up with them 7 or so years ago. Initially, price was very good ($35/quarter). The crews were always courteous and importantly, on time like clockwork. Over the ensuing years the price has more than doubled and the crews seem to care less about their work. IMPORTANTLY, over the last few months, pickup times are crap shoots--SOMETIMES NOT EVEN COMING AND MISSING A WEEK. Our neighborhood pickup day is Wednesday. It is now Thursday afternoon and the streets have been lined with American Disposal trash bins with no trucks in sight. I just checked their website and they said they won't be picking up this week until Saturday. This is unacceptable for a "premium" service. They claim to have a shortage of workers. It cracked in several places. American Disposal was called to replace the can and we were told to put it empty at the curb on a Friday and it would be picked up. It was never picked up. This continued for three weeks with repeated requests. In the meantime I looked for a local trash company and found one that was cheaper and started service. I am not sure how their service is now, but from reviews on other sites it doesn't look to have improved. I have even gone as far as to add this business to Yelp because it was not listed in GA, only in VA where they also have service. THE REASON FOR THIS REVIEW IS..... Over the years and in 3 different neighborhoods they have come barreling through at a high rate of speed with no regard for pedestrians, property, or speed limits. They fly down our little street each week and come to a screeching halt in the cul-de-sac, pick up one neighbor's trash and speed off again, driving wildly and out of control, often down the middle of the street. I have complained before (before we bought this house), and just gave up because no one there cares. This morning my friend complained that they almost mowed her over on the way to take her daughter to the bus stop in her neighborhood, and drive like maniacs. After reading her Facebook post, several others spoke up and said the same. Since the company doesn't care, I guess we should call the police and the local news before someone gets hurt or killed. Off to talk to my neighbor about switching companies to keep these lunatics out of our neighborhood....I may even offer to pay his trash pickup to get him to switch. This is the worst trash collection company I have ever had. I am paying for recycling for biweekly pick up. Shortly after service started, they missed my recycling 3 times in a row. I had to make 2 calls before they collected it (and wait on hold over 30 min both times). Fast forward 3-4 months and I have the same problem. My recycling hasn't been picked up in 6 weeks and I have made SIX calls to the company. Each time they reassure me that it will be picked up and it never is. Well thankfully I read these reviews and knew to take a picture of them removing it because lo and behold they now claim they never removed it. Terrible company. They miss picking up my trash often and when you call their phone number, you can not get through. You'll get a message that the voice box is full OR if it's during business hours, you'll get a message saying you are number 63 in line to speak with someone. Hold time can be 45 minutes long to speak to someone. I do not know HOW they stay in business!
