I have never in my life dealt with such a poorly run company that unfortunately is supposed to provide a critically important service. When the pandemic began, they reduced picking up recycling from weekly to biweekly. However, they did not reduce the cost of service. In fact, they have increased prices despite never returning to weekly service. Since then they rarely actually pick up recycling. It has been 1 month since mine was last serviced. Within the past few months they have now also consistently missed picking up trash. Occasionally they will send out an email claiming trash/recycling pick up will be on a 1 day delay. Then if you're lucky, they'll actually follow through and show up. However, my trash hasn't been picked up in 3 weeks. Not a fun situation when I had guests for the holiday weekend. My brother was kind enough to haul several bags of trash from my home to his in another county. Their office customer service is just as unreliable. They don't respond to emails. If you're fortunate to get to speak to someone by phone after waiting on hold for at least 20 minutes, they tend to make assurances that they never follow through with. They don't make adjustments to your account despite not providing the services that customers are paying for. I looked into filing a Better Business Bureau complaint, but noticed that they had hundreds of complaints already filed that the company has failed to respond to. They currently have an F rating. So I didn't bother as this would just be a waste of time, as every other attempt I've made to have this company respond. I don't understand how the state has not intervened to investigate them. They are robbing people at this point with impunity it seems. If there are other options in your area for trash and recycling, please steer clear of this horrible company. read more

Con artists. I signed up for recycling service and they didn't show the first week. I thought it was a glitch. The next pickup date was also a no-show. I called American Disposal and was told they'd send a truck out the next day. Another no show. They no showed again the next week. Another call and another promise to come out the next day. Again and again and again. So far, they have not come after seven promised pickups. A trash driver for American told me the recycling driver is probably just being lazy because I'm the only one on my block. Cobb County commission awards licenses to operators, then says, "We don't provide trash or recycling service. It's not our problem. Take it up with them. We just invite companies like this in Cobb County to scr*w our residents." read more

I have had a price discrepancy on my bill. I have called several times for clarity, but their line is usually busy or they put you on perpetual hold. I also wrote to them on their website, but they never respond. I have tried for over two weeks now. I hope my HOA finds another trash company that is more responsive. These guys are a joke. I had my personal can out with the one provided by them and they accidentally let it fall in the truck. No biggie as I understand that things happen...getting a hold of someone and asking them to acknowledge they did it has been a challenge. First I was totally written off and asked if "I saw them do it". Really? The condescending tone that the rep had was amazing. Second was actually talking to the supervisor. She said she had to verify that the team threw away my can...ok. So again, they don't trust me and what I'm saying. She said she would call me back and that never happened. I called her back to be told that I would get another callback. She did and I was on the phone. I called back 2 mins later to get a message that they were closed. To the employees that work there, customer service is not hard. Get your act together and understand that your customer base are the people that support you. This company is the worst! I had them a few years back. My previous company was bought out by American. When I moved, they asked me to put my empty trash can on the curb for pickup. I did this the next day. It took a few days for them to come pick it up and I literally watched the guy carry my can away. A few months later, after my move, they say they had never received my can and wanted to charge me $100! I asked if they had a serial number for the can they picked up. The lady told me my that there was no serial number on my can. So then I asked her how she knew they didn't already pick it up. I told her I watched the guy carry it away! She said the driver did not record a pickup. I told her he must have made a mistake. She threatened that she would send the bill to collections of I didn't pay! I have only written a couple of YELP reviews in my life. I say this to make it clear that I have waited for improvement and for promises this company made to be honored. They have been given MONTHS of my patience and understanding. Now, I must complain publicly that I have been through an experience with this company that has been exhausting, time-consuming (on my part), and extremely unprofessional (on their part.) American Disposal Services claims to provide trash and recycling removal from residential and commercial property. I signed on for residential and have received horrible service. They are 2-4 days late for trash pickup almost every week. They stopped collecting my recycling altogether and, when I called their "missed pickup" number, I either got an automated message or an office worker who explained, every week, the drivers were behind schedule or would pick it up next time (2 weeks!). The women who take my calls are always cheerful on the phone which makes it difficult not to trust them. However, the service got so bad, I wrote an email AND spoke on the phone to them to discontinue my service. I was told I would receive a refund as soon as my bins were picked up. Flash forward over two months and many emails and calls later. My bins are still sitting by my mailbox where I was told to leave them for pickup. Pickup dates have been set 6 times and no one shows. I strongly recommend using another trash pickup company. read more

Dealing with this company has been a nightmare. They simply do not pick up. When called the response is the driver forgets. They promise that it will be corrected for next week but never corrected. Have spent hours and hours on the phone with them with no results. My trash can is full and we are leaving for a long trip. I don't know how the garage will smell when we are back? I've been a customer for about a year and a half, and I've never been more flabbergasted in my life at how poorly a company is run. They're constantly picking up a day late and missing pickups. They've missed my last two trash pickups. Garbage is piling up in my garage. I tried to contact them to arrange to have it picked up for the past two weeks, but nobody answers phone calls or emails. I've already signed up for services from a competitor in the area, but I can't get through to anybody to cancel my service with American Disposal. It's like the company has been abandoned, but they're continuing to charge me! If you have any other option at all, avoid patronizing these morons. read more

I've never had a trash service say "hey bring your stuff to the curb, we might pick it up... if we don't... just put it out next week." I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone! I've been watching them toss my recycles into the garbage truck for months now and some days they just don't come at all. I've called to complain at their local number 720.322.0500 and have NEVER gotten to speak to a person - always on eternal hold! I've also sent three e-mails to them and have NEVER gotten a response! I've filed a complaint with the BBB (#13772751) on 08/15/19 and even they could not reach them! My husband finally packed up our recycles the drove them to their Commerce City, CO location. American Disposal Services does not deserve any stars. They're deceiving customers by charging for recycling services that they are NOT delivering. read more

Having lived in an HOA that was exclusively serviced by American Disposal for 7 1/2 years we dealt with the occasional lapse in pick ups due to staffing issues, holidays or weather. I would give them one star just for the bad service, but I was truly shocked at how bad it was when we moved. American Disposal picked up the cans, and left the trash!!! Yes, you read that correctly!!! After 3 calls, and 3 promises to remove the pile of trash in front of our house that we are trying to sell, our friends had to pick up the trash and dispose of it. They've got some serious problems. The last few years American Disposal was pretty good, but then over the last year or so their pickups have become really unreliable. The first time was last November, when they moved our pickup day from Thursday to Wednesday. The problem was they didn't tell us that until it was too late to do anything about it. By the time we got the notice in the mail that our pickup day was changing, it was already Thursday night and we'd missed that week's pickup. Then, about 2 months ago, they've just started picking up the trash whenever the hell they feel like it. One week it was on Thursday, then the next we had garbage sitting out on the curb until Saturday, and since then it's almost a crapshoot. At this point I'm kind of sticking the stuff out there on Wednesday and just hoping for the best. They did send us an email complaining about a national labor shortage, but for reasons I can't quite grasp, none of the other sanitation companies servicing my neighborhood appear to have similar problems. I plan to switch ASAP and find out if that is actually true, because the level of service we're getting from American is way past unacceptable. read more

I have had American Disposal for several years now, and I like that they give you a full size recycling can. I have a dramatic hill, and cannot easily bring the cans in and out, so this is flexible for the weather. The only issues I have had over the time was, as some people mentioned, leaving the trash can in the street or the lid open. I only had to call and complain about this once to see results, in my case, but I would be upset if it continued because leaving the lid open and in GA rain, leads to a gross situation. They have only missed me a couple of times, but when I call to report this, they have returned or have credited me back a week on my invoice. I renegotiate my rate at times, and it has only taken about 5-10 minutes on the phone when doing that, so I am happy because so far they have fixed any issues in a timely matter. read more

I am extremely unhappy with this trash service. We were supposed to have a set rate for two years and they just increased it after only one year and when I called they said that they never do two year rates and they will not adjust. The pickup drivers yelled at my husband when he tried to throw out an item that they considered "too large" and even when he began to break it apart so it fit into the bin they refused to take it. Now every time he drives past them while they are collecting the trash collector will jump in front of his car! Then he yells at my husband to slow down because he driving too fast! We have two very small children and are probably the slowest drivers in our whole neighborhood because we are so aware that there could be kids playing in the street. But the collector has been a real jerk to my husband ever since the "too large item" incident and even refused to speak to me at all when I tried to ask what I should do in the future if we had a large item that needed to be picked up. They are the worst trash company we have ever had and I wish we had not been seduced by their low introductory rate scheme. I cannot wait to switch services and would not EVER recommend them to anyone! read more

Terrible service. They have missed my Monday pickup twice in 3 weeks. This week, it's Friday and they still haven't picked up the trash. I've called on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and each time been told that they will pick up the trash within 24 hours. Meanwhile, my rate when up to $96/quarter for this "service". Just watched an American disposal truck drive through my neighborhood at 40-45 miles per hour. We live on a quiet street where houses sit on 2-5 acres so it's not a "packed" neighborhood, BUT my children play with the neighbor kids across the street. There is no way their truck could stop in time if one of them ran out into the street. I tried calling their office to complain but they close at 4:30pm and have no place to leave a voicemail (kinda odd hours and bad business practice). TELL YOUR DRIVERS TO SLOW DOWN!!! Our trash can was slowly falling apart due to the employees horribly abusing it during pick-ups. Then one day they just decided to throw away our entire trash bin. Called their office, of course they had no records of it. The lady (Jessica?) said they would try to get in touch with the drivers to find out what happened. Never called me back, they are clearly just hoping I give up. I called them back, got the same lady on the phone, and was given attitude for checking up on the progress. Went online to share my experiences only to find that dozens of others had beat me to it. Unfortunately it's not always easy or even possible to change service. Sometimes you only have one choice or the trash is included in an HOA package. They know this, and abuse this protection. Given enough time though, this company will run itself into the ground with service like this. read more

American Disposal Services is the absolute worst of any disposal service I have used in the past 30 years. This is two weeks in a row that the recycling people did not show up. They continually seem to have trouble keeping people working on their routes. A few months ago they threw the trash can down so hard they broke the wheels off and it took over a month to get them to replace the broken can. I am cancelling my service with them. Please sign up for any other service... I wish I had another alternative, but somehow they've managed to make a deal with our neighborhood. Consistently late/missing pickups for not only myself, but the entire neighborhood. Even when notified of missed pickups with scheduled alternate days they still fail to show. Don't even bother signing up for recycling as customer service has explicitly explained to me they don't prioritize these pick ups even though this is an additional fee on your bill. Despite their inconsistency they will not miss a chance to send you a bill for services you haven't even received. They've claimed that these issues are due to being short staffed from the pandemic although neighbors have vouched this has been the case prior to 2020. They continue to accept new customers despite their awareness of how spread thin their staff is. My recommendation is to STOP accepting new customers when you can't even properly serve your existing customers. Find another option I promise this one isn't worth it. read more

Horrible customer service. Removed our trash can from our property without replacement (the trash can was brand new). When we called to request a receptacle, we were told we would get an email within 24-48 hours....during the holidays. So we not only don't know when we will have a trash can...we don't have anything to currently store the refuse we create. We received no apology for the mix up, no explanation, and still have no solution provided by ADS. Avoid if at all possible. read more

I had to give 1 star coz there's no option for zero star.. 1st of all...I pay our bill on time and at this review..it is pay thru July. The service is poor at best! Each week we have to clean up trash they leave behind. But what sparked this review was the horrible service last month (May 2018) Not only did they not pick up our recycle...they completely ignored our lawn debris for 3 weeks...letting 14 bags accumulate! When I called the Customer service you could hear the rep "typing" my concerns and leaving instructions for the trash crew (allegedly) but they picked up the recycle...and still left trash behind ...as usual...and they still did not pick up all of the lawn bags... They left 4. I called again...they assured me they would be back that same day and...nothing!..I called again to find out the trash team told a lie about how we were serviced. I did not even want their service but they bought the company I was using, They are ALWAYS late, the cans are flung across the yard when they DO show up, Then they decide to change pick up days which is not good. God help you if you try to contact them...rude customer service - especially a fellow named Josh(ua). I was late on a payment, made it and my account was 100%current but a MONTH AFTER making the payment, they took my trash can anyway and NOW want $35.00 to bring it back...he actually told me "well, you have to call us to let us know you made the payment...we have no way of knowing you paid." WTH???? Then he looks at his screen and says "I see you made the payment but you still have to call to tell us." REALLY????????? AND I still have to pay and additional $35.00 ????? I'll summarize several my months of saga: 1 - I forgot to pay bill and they picked up their two cans (my bad...not their fault at all). 2 - The same day I called, paid bill and asked for cans to be brought back to me. 3 - a month later, still no cans so I called back to say, 'just give me one can please. 4 - another month later still no can delivery so I went and bought my own (96 gallon from Home Depot $100). 5 - American Disposal then added $100 charge to my bill saying I didn't return their can (that they never delivered). I called them, 4 times, each time the agent said they'd have to refer it to a supervisor to reverse the charge. So, now 5 months later my account is now past due $105. It's almost comical at this point, so I'm now on a one man mission to tell my story to as many people as a possibly can! read more
