American bought out my previous service. They are sloppy with their pickups; they spilled a paper bag of yard refuse and didn't clean it up. Left a big pile of pine needles in the street in front of my house. Now, with my first quarterly bill, I have an 11% price increase. If there was less than 1 star I would give it to this company. Last week they swapped my bin out for some reason. The replacement has a wheel that falls off. When I called I was given the run around, blamed my neighbors and refused to rectify the situation for 2 weeks. They expect me to pull a broken bin full of trash to the road with a bad back. They refused to let me speak with a supervisor or give their name. This company has the worst customer service and I would stay far away from them if you have options. Had service for a couple of years, during which, there were numerous rate hikes. I never knew what would actually get picked up. If there was anything outside of a garbage bin, such as lawn refuse bags, or items that did not fit into the bin, most of the times, they were not picked up. With lawn bags, a single twig better not be sticking out. When I voiced my complaints to the customer service line, they did not seem to care at all. We dumped them because of their inconsistent service, and the fact that they had a tendency to dump the trash in the street rather than pick it up (they use a big robotic arm on the side of their truck, and don't bother checking whether or not they miss). Today, they took my trash cans. Not theirs. MINE. The ones I personally paid money for for the NEW trash company (Hughes). They were SUPPOSED to pick theirs up last month, but didn't when I left them out. I spent FORTY MINUTES on hold, waiting for someone to answer the phone, and when they finally did, they told me that the schedule was to pick up trash cans today. Wednesday August 23rd my wife was home and our children had just got off the school bus with friends over. After school time can be quite frantic, sorting through school work to find homework and prepare after school snacks. Jonah A (salesperson who did not write hard enough on service agreement to be able to read anything on the pink copy left behind for the customer) arrived at my door and offered service of your company to my wife at a lesser cost than our existing provider. Normally we make these decisions together after some research etc. I feel as though my wife was taken advantage of and pressured into signing up for service with American Disposal. She called to cancel service on 8/29 ( yes I realize the 4th business day after agreement was signed) and she spoke with a lady named Cynthia. My wife expressed her change of mind and asked to cancel service without penalty even though she knew she was one day overdue to cancel per the agreement. Your company was not to begin servicing our account until October 1, so we were still more than a month out and your company would not be out any expense as no cans were yet delivered either. After having worked the past 16 years in the hospitality industry for a company well none for customer service (Marriott International) I couldn't see why there would have been an issue with cancelling our service at no charge. We're we technically past the deadline to cancel, yes, but American Disposal had not delivered cans, nor provided a single days service, and we were still more than a month away from the agreements scheduled start date. Cynthia led my wife to believe that this would not be an issue. She put my wife on hold a couple times, presumably to consult with leadership, and returned to the phone telling my wife "I'll take care of it for you". She did not inform my wife of any payment or penalty that would be forthcoming. So there we were, happy that the issue was resolved without incident or out of pocket expense for either party in the agreement. Imagine our surprise when we received an invoice from your company totaling a years worth of service cost! The date of the invoice is still one month prior to the agreements scheduled start date for pick up. My wife called once again and asked to speak with a supervisor. "Nick" spoke to my wife and informed her that he would not cancel the agreement and that the best he would do was to delay the scheduled start of service for January 1. Nick failed to recognize or address the fact that Cynthia had make my wife feel as though she'd agreed to cancel the agreement at no charge to us when they spoke on 8/29 and Cynthia said "I'll take care of it for you". Nick offered little help. I could understand AD's position of a small cancellation fee due to time spent with paperwork etc, but a years service fee is outrageous and totally unreasonable. Plan and simple, VERY poor customer service. I never heard from anyone at American Disposal after sending this email. We officially start service with them now on January 3. I've paid for the service for one year and that's all they'll get. What a miserable excuse for a company read more

Do not use this service! HORRIBLE! Missed trash, put recycling in same truck as trash, prices kept going up and the quality of service went down. Could never get through to anyone, once I did only given excuses and not solutions. It took almost two months to pick up the empty containers after canceling their service. I had no place to put those unsightly canisters, but was told I was still responsible for them if anything happened while they were on the curb waiting to be picked up. My trash has only been picked up once in the past six weeks, despite repeatedly filling out their "missed pickup" online form and emails to customer service, all customer service does is promise "it'll be picked up by the end of the week". Well, it's almost 5pm on Saturday and it hasn't been picked up. Monday I'm contacting the county solid waste management manager to ask whether the county regulates trash companies, and if so, how to file a complaint. I hate this company. All of the negative reviews on here are 100% accurate. I would say pick literally any other company, but American Disposal has acquired (and subsequently ruined) several other disposal companies over the past couple of years, and just recently were bought out by Cycle Works. Your safest bet is to find a mom & pop service or at the very least confirm that whatever provider you choose is not owned by or affiliated with American Disposal or Cycle Works Sanitation before signing up for service. I should have known not to mess with this company by the way it started out with them. We moved into a rental house in Marietta in November and I had already called and set up service and it happened that we moved in on trash pickup day. The landlord's contractors had left both our trash and recycle bins completely full of crap so, I had them down by the curb to pick up. When they came by - they looked in the recycle bin and said, this is not recycle so they drove off leaving me with two completely full bins. When they turned around and came back through, I flagged the guy down and offered him $20 to just empty my bins. He said, "for $20, I can make them both disappear and you can get brand new bins". So, I gave him the $20 and he took them both away, no problem. But, without the $20, I was stuck with the two full bins. We bought a new home and were moving in July, so when I got the bill for the coming months, I copied the bill and sent a nice, "we are moving to a place where you do not provide service, so kindly cancel our service at end of July". Then, today (September 2) I get a call about why I have not paid my bill. I told them I sent them a letter with the last bill letting them know I was moving and cancelling the service. They go into this whole. "where your bills go when you pay them is just a box to get checks, they probably just threw your letter away!". So how were we supposed to know that? The lady on the phone, Dashawn (spelling probably wrong) was very, exceptionally rude, put me on hold for 15 minutes and finally I asked her to have a supervisor call me. She said she was stopping the service but I should have called her to cancel. No where is that spelled out and I figured when you pay your bill, someone there is actually reading the letters and changes of address, etc... but, guess not. Overall, based on the service we received in the few months we used them, I WOULD STRONGLE ADVISE YOU NOT TO USE THIS COMPANY! They never come the same time twice, often just skip your pickup altogether or will pick up garbage one day then, recycle in a day or two, even if it is a Sunday... Very rude people to deal with. Very disappointed. They have not yet been to pick up our cans in THREE WEEKS! Canceling today. They missed a week a month or 2 ago and they said they would come and pick it up the following week and never did, but finally did the next week. Also, they changed days on us without any warning- It use to be on Monday mornings, then they never came to pick up- then I got a call Tuesday saying to leave it out for Wednesday morning! Didn't even bother to call so we wouldn't have to take it out for Monday morning. Every time I call they say we need to leave the cans out earlier but we leave them out THE NIGHT BEFORE. Not impressed with them and went with another provider that was less expensive, provides a full size recycling container, and has great reviews. Now been charged $200 by American Disposal for not returning containers...they were put out on the curb and picked up by AD. Can't get anywhere with the reps on the phone. Not only were they on Channel 2 news the other day due to numerous complaints about trash pick-up in Powder Springs and leaving folks with more than a weeks worth of trash that has been accumulated over the months but now many citizens are not having trash picked up. As per usual, trash pick-up for my neighborhood is every Tuesday. Well, this Tuesday rolled around and nobody came around the usual time. So I thought, "well, maybe they are running behind and will pick up later around 6:30." NOPE!! Still trash in the roll-can and not only that, trash is spread all throughout my neighborhood due to animals digging through the garbage. I'm completely disappointed and disgusted with the sight of all of this trash. Our neighborhood has NEVER looked this bad before. If it was possible to leave a 0 star rating, that would be what I would give them. They charge everyone in the neighborhood vastly different amounts, run over our curbs and track mud down the street, leave a trail of garbage behind them and skip houses on a whim. The last straw was when I pre-paid for a year. Midway through the year, they added a $13 charge which I never saw a bill for. I finally saw one and called in to pay my bill (still not sure what the charge was for since I paid the year in advance) the day it was due and they still cut off my service. When I called in to see what happened, they admitted I paid in time, that the error was theirs, and said they'd be happy to turn my service back in for a fee. Are you kidding me??? Nope. No other company services my neighborhood, so I now dispose of my own garbage rather than pay them to turn us back on. It's not the $, it's the principle... They are acceptable with regard to on time regular pick ups, which is the minimum expected from a trash service--so I've been using them for several years now. They fall well short on two main areas though: 1) My bill has increased by more than 100% in the past 5 years. We started off paying ~$35 for 3 months in 2014. We now pay $77 each billing cycle. They raise the rates incrementally every 6-months or so. 2) The customer service is horrible. Try and find their customer service contact information on their website... it is impossible. They have all sorts of information telling you to contact them for different service inquiries, but they don't actually provide any means to do so. I had to find their contact phone number from my bill. 3) The creme-de-la-creme... I had to get my trash bin and recycling bin replaced due to wear and tear cracks in them--cracks are near the location where the truck picks up the cans and shake them. I waited ~20 min on line to speak to someone, which is not bad considering the recording told me it could be up to 60 minutes. Customer service said they can only come out on 2 very specific days a month (every other Wednesday) and required me to have my cans empty to swap them out. Not an unreasonable request, but it creates a problem for many folks who are in the middle of their pick up cycle. For me, Wednesday happens to fall on the day before my weekly pick up. So, they want me to pull out 7 days of stinky trash and hold it (where??) until they can replace my bin. what?? where am I supposed to do that? Twanda (customer service manager) said she is not able to do anything to help me--she suggested that I go out and buy a trash can to hold my trash if I am bothered by it--what??? why am I paying for this company if they want me to buy my own trash bins? Could they not drop off clean bins and pick up the old bins on the next pick up?? How about at least offering a discount for the 2 days of not providing me with trash bins? A tiny amount of money, but it's the principle. Why have a customer service manager if they are not empowered to actually make a difference to help their customers?? Very frustrating. I am willing to pay extra for excellent service, but get really peeved when I have to deal with bad service like this. Other trash companies are not much better in my experience. If someone ever opens a trash collection service that strives to provide a good customer experience, they would make a killing.
