I have been trying for over a month to get through to the billing dept. They will not call me, staff has been told not to transfer customers & it is awkward to explain accounting errors unless there is an interchange. I have automatic billing & they charged me a fine for not paying for December. Nonsense. They tell me a refund is coming by mail, but it was suggested it might take up to 3 months. It has been 2 months at this point & I never will want a refund by check...just credit my account! They owe me money & they keep intimating that service is soon to end. Preposterous! I dropped American and was the best choice I could have made. They missed six recycling pickups in a 4 month span and refused to give me any account credit back for any of it when I closed my account. I made multiple attempts to speak with someone about this via phone or email - when I finally got someone, they were only interested in arguing with me and providing excuses about why they should not have to provide credits for services they didn't deliver and wondering when I'd be paying a remaining $19 balance on my account. Their customer service folks were incredibly rude, would not let me speak, and refused to answer questions about why they did not deliver services that I had paid for...Only when I would be paying the $19. I'm gathering from the reviews here, number of houses in my neighborhood that have dropped them, and overall desperation to collect on a bill instead of actually providing service that they are struggling...wonder why. I'll pay the small remaining bill to move on and not waste more time with these folks but wanted to note how bad my experience has been with this poorly run organization. I recently moved and had to contact this company to setup services for trash pickup. I called on August 18, 2020, provided the information they required, and was told that I would have a trash can on August 25, 2020. It's now September 9, 2020 and I've yet to receive a trash can. I called this company today and was told that an account was never setup for me and there was no record of a trash can being delivered to my address for August 25th. I explained to the lady that I've waited almost a month thinking I was going to receive a trash can, only to find out that my first call to setup an account with them was a "waste". The lady proceeded to setup my account and told me that I would receive my trash can on September 22, 2020. This is literally over a month after I've moved. I was also told that I can't even take my trash to the front today for pickup because I didn't have an account with them until today. When I expressed my frustration with their lack of professionalism and asked for some form of discount or consideration for the inconvenience, the lady told me that there's nothing they will or can do. I would still be charged the normal rate, I can't have my trash picked up today, and I have to wait until September 22nd to get a trash can. As a result, I told her that I will leave a review of this incident and she didn't seem to care. She proceeded to end the call with her final remarks, so I just hung up. If you are reading this, it's not too late to save yourself the frustration of dealing with this company. You still have time to find a trash service that actually picks your trash up on the assigned day, and takes your recyclables away on a regular basis; a company that answers incoming calls, or, at the very least, checks messages and returns calls. You still have time to find a waste disposal company that returns emails, and exists beyond a surprisingly efficient billing department. Save yourself while you can. The absolute WORST residential trash service in the area. An F rating by BBB and dozens upon dozens of bad reviews. If I could give zero stars I would. 1 - HORRIBLE "customer service" - there is no way to escalate an issue, you can only speak to a rep who has to either put you on hold forever or call you back. Most do not. I found one rep who will and she does an amazing job. They always have to speak to 'Operations' who always comes back saying either they picked up the trash (if you are reporting a missed pick up) or there's nothing they can do to help. 2 - My trash has been missed so many times it's ridiculous. I'm the first house in the neighborhood - right by the entrance and they have blown by and missed me multiple times. They always offer a credit but it never gets applied. You can never get to a staff member who can help - just the first level Customer Service reps. 3 - our entire neighborhood is fed up with this company but they keep telling us they 'own' our street and we can use them or just not have trash service. I don't know what has happened with these folks, but I finally canceled today and switched to a competitor. They came in 8 years ago and offered $45/quarter with recycling, drove out all the smaller competitors, and slowly raised my rate to $106/quarter and bi-weekly recycling. Failed to pick up the trash on Monday, but got the 3 neighbors surrounding me. Called customer no service on 5/27/20, put on hold 16 minutes and then hung up on. Called back but on hold for 19 minutes and hung up on again. Over two thirds of the neighbors in our subdivision have now switched to a competitor. read more

NOTE: This company was acquired by "Waste Connections of GA", but the problems in this review have occurred since then. No longer anything this company can do for me. They have lost me as a customer, and I want to make sure others are aware of how poorly this place runs. It started with at least once a month, pickup would be missed on the pickup date. Annoying, as I am out of town a lot, and end up having to leave the cans out for days. It was nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get someone on the phone (although has been better lately). There were also rate increases with no warning. Finally got frustrated enough that I canceled service. Cancelation itself was fine, and set a date to remove my bins. They were never picked up; nor was I contacted with a new pickup date. Several days went by before I called. "Oh we are sorry, they ran out of time that day - You were rescheduled for XYZ". Would never have known the rescheduled date if I didn't call. Did not pick up on the 2nd date. Called again and emailed that if they were not picked up on the 3rd date, I would consider them abandoned property and dispose of them myself. Finally were picked up on 3rd date. When I canceled, I was due a pro-rated refund, as it was in the middle of my billing cycle. They told me this on the phone initially and said it takes 6-8 weeks to process. Fearing the usual incompetence, I called at the 6-week mark to check status. Got nothing but a "sir, it can be up to 8 weeks. Just be patient". At the 8-week mark I called again when I still did not have anything. Agent said she "put in a ticket for billing dept" and "would talk to them personally and call me back later that day". Never heard from her again. Waited a week each time and kept calling back with increasing frustration. The customer service agents are friendly but have 0 power or initiative to make anything happen. TWELVE weeks after cancellation I finally got the refund...after many phone calls/emails. Sick of hearing "understaffed" excuse. Stop accepting new customers if you cannot handle your current volume with the resources you have. read more

They are the worst. Missed pickups and terrible cust. service. My can was damaged and I called in February for a replacement. They emailed me it would be May 20. I replied that that was 3 months away and did they mean March 20? They did not respond so I waited until May 20 and had it at the street waiting for the exchange. Never happened. I called the next day to complain and was told I did not have it at the street March 20. I got mad and had them look at the email correspondence and she saw they had said May not March. She talked with het supervisor and I was told I had to wait 3 more weeks until June 11th. June 11th came, my can was waiting at the street and, once again it was not exchanged. We have canceled and were told to have our empty can curbside by 6:30 AM on 10-31-2023. They never arrived. Between then and today, 12-19-2023. It has not been picked up. We have had over a dozen communications and none of the scheduled dates have been met. We have to haul it curbside daily since we don't know if they may decide to come and get it. I've been very pleased with the service. ADS has an app for your mobile device that reminds you of upcoming pickups and really good customer service. I've only had two missed pickups in the past five years and they came out the next day to make the missed pickup. This is the WORST company I have ever dealt with. Our scheduled pickup date is Friday but they have not arrived on a Friday for more than a year (maybe a year and a half). If they arrive, it is usually late afternoon on Saturday and only occasionally do they send an email notifying you that service will be delayed. So, I do my part and roll the container out to the curb every Thursday night where it sits until Saturday afternoon. I have called "customer service" to complain about the missed pickups and delays but simply received excuses of being short staffed and assurances that someone "will be sent right out". Our trash should have been picked up on 9/30/22. It is now 10/3/22 and it is still on the curb. I called their number 3 times today but no one ever answered. Inept company, I don't think it's the fault of the guys and girls picking up but the administration side of the business. After many missed pickups we canceled and went with a different company. We have been waiting at least two months and counting for them to pickup their old bins. Oddly enough the truck has comes by to empty them (they are already empty) weekly they won't take them away. When I called them regarding bin return after I canceled service due to bad it's customer service, I have now waited three months to get my bins picked up from my house. I have had to bring them out to the road every week. When I called the ten plus times that I did, I was told a manager would call me back within 24-48 hours. They never called regardless of my ten attempts to get ahold of them. I was told they were calling back in ten minutes and never called. I called to speak with a customer service agent to ask why I did not get a call and they said that it was not worthy of a call. This company is exploitative and treats their customers terribly. Okay so I don't like doing this but now this is the second or third month in a row that this astoundingly terrible company has billed me for services that I've literally never received, and I've got some free time so I'm going to rip them to shreds on every possible outlet that I can. So we moved into our house in September. I called American Disposal because I needed garbage and recycling. They told me they would get me my cans in about a week. Then when they didn't show up, they promised it would be the next week. Then the next one, then the next day, then the next day, always claiming that there was no note in my file about anyone having promised me to get me the cans at a certain date. They turned out to have the wrong delivery address on file (apparently they are super solid on the billing address though). I decided that it wasn't worth waiting for cans that were never going to come, so by October, I told them I was going with a different service and to cancel the account, to which they agreed. So then in December I was going through my accounts and noticed that I had been billed $106 by American Disposal, even though I have NEVER GOTTEN TRASH PICKUP BECAUSE I DON'T EVEN HAVE THEIR STUPID CANS. I was furious, but I recognize that it's rarely the fault of a person on the phone so I just called and asked to get my money back and to make absolutely certain that the account was cancelled. They assured me it would be taken care of and they refunded me. But then TODAY, in January, I was checking my budgets again, and guess who got another interest free loan from me? American Disposal! They're closed right now, which is good, because I genuinely don't want to ruin some poor customer service person's day by screaming at them over this. There is no way they are paid enough, or any single one of them would be even remotely competent at the job. I really REALLY want this permanently solved. read more

Beware- ive Been using this company for years and since the beginning they have accepted my yard trash in my own personal hard plastic bins. Last week they threw away the yard trash and also tossed my cans in the truck. My neighbors kids watched them do it and the driver admitted doing it - they have cameras on trucks so they know exactly what happened. When I called to find out how they would compensate me, I was told that the company accepts no responsibility for personal property that they damage or lose. They say to send an email....but they never respond to our emails. They bought the company we used before and we are having problems finding another company to service our area. I canceled pickups several weeks ago due to their horrible service. Our pick up day was on Fridays, but for the last few months, our garbage was picked up anywhere between Friday and Sunday night. When I called to cancel my service, they were not answering the phones for residential customers. I was told by their recorded message to email with my concerns. After trial and error, I was able to speak with someone by going through their commercial accounts department. After I canceled, I'm now waiting to get my ADS trashcans picked up. They told me that it would be two weeks before they could get out to do that. I was given a date to have my cans at the curb for them to get, but they are even two days late top pick up their own cans. They went downhill fast. ADS used to be great, but now, they're awful. read more

Sad to say but they are the WORST garbage collection service I have ever had, and I have had 4 over the last 10 years here in the NE Atlanta area. After missing 4 consecutive pickups last October, and picking up once after garbage overflow and pests entering our garage in an HOA neighborhood that fines you $75 per occurrence for garbage cans left visible or on the street for more than 24 hours, they 'accidentally' lost all those records, oh wait, they found that they sent trucks back for 2 missed pick-ups... which was a lie, but wait, which is it... you have NO record of missed pickups, but sent back trucks TWO times. I chased a refund for a measly $20 since that was 1 month of service charge for missed pickups, and after 5 calls, 2 emails, I finally got a response in March - 5 months later saying the above - no notes/2 trucks resent - so in other words, NO refund. $20 was not going to make or break me, but i PRE-PAID in advance for services I NEVER received!! THEN, to make matters worse, in late March and all thru April they missed FIVE pickups, and with a family of five required that I borrow a truck and make 2 trips to the dump (hours of extra effort and time which equals money), AND, since they sent emails twice excusing their 'nationwide driver shortage', and saying 'sorry we missed your pickup on Friday and will be there Saturday - then still NOT picking it up... I got fined TWICE @ $75 by my HOA for leaving the cans on the street!! Only ONE TIME - after spending more than 7 logged hours on hold over the course of 5 calls that April - after which i got thru only once before having to hang up to attend to work, kids or home matters, did i ever get thru to them. I tried to be nice and understanding of the situation, even though being so cost me over $200 between dump fees and fines, plus the loss of my billable consulting hours trying to get them to answer me as to when they would pick up trash, which I minimum bill out at $150 an hour... all total this entire debacle cost me over $1,000. To add insult to injury, the last time I called them and waited on the line for over 2 hours because they had still not picked up the 5th time, intending to cancel services no matter how long I had to wait - I finally get someone on the phone and begin discussing my situation and within 30 seconds get cut off!! I tried to call right back and got a message saying "I'm sorry we are closed right now". What? It was mid-day! On at least 8 other call occasions to them I received a busy signal, and once tracked down their corporate office in Virginia and they said they would call a route supervisor and have them run the route and see what and why this kept happening - but that NEVER happened either. Corporate office did give me an email address to email locally on my account (csremail@adsimail.com) which I did to request cancellation on April 27th, but I received no response. Big surprise. The biggest surprise however, is a collection notice I received today for $227!! I presume for the cans they never came to pick up which still sit beside my house. As I am not allowed to have cans on the street in my neighborhood for more than 24 hours, and since no one there seems to be actually running the business, ensuring qaulity control, taking care of customers, providing the service customers pay for, or generally doing anything at all worthy of having customers, it is not a surprise that it has taken them 5.5 months to even send me a bill for the cans - but not just a bill - a collection notice!! I set myself up on email invoice delivery so I would see and could pay invoices when I had service and the last email I got from them was dated 5/22/19 - a memorial day 'late pick-up notice'. Again, no big surprise there. Prior to that I received an invoice dated 5/1 for a bill due that day for the next 3 months service, which I ignored because I cancelled this service!! They must have known this because they stopped picking up immediately after I emailed to cancel, and I assume they didnt respond because I again asked for a refund, which this time they could not deny because they actually emailed about not being able to pick up - at least twice anyway. They do nothing with consistency or with common human decency - i.e., they have ZERO respect for their customers, the issues that a family of 6 faces when a garbage service they contract with by pre-paying for services and trusting that service to be delivered, and which in a court of law is a legally binding contract - and which they are in breach of contract. I have a lawsuit if I choose to file, and will leave up the decision to the courts and a jury as to the extent and scope of the damages they will award, but by all legal definitions, my lawsuit meets the 4 major requirements to receive a favorable judgement against them. For the last couple of years service has been spotty. They usually end up coming a few days late, if they come at all. In the past if I would call, the trash would get picked up by the next day. That is no longer the case. It's been over 2 weeks since I've had trash pickup this time. They just keep telling me I'm on a one day delay. It must be the longest day in history. I realize there are labor shortages, but the rest of the neighborhood is getting their service. Our half of the road is a rats dream with all the overflowing trash bins. I'd be better off digging a ditch in the back yard and sacrificing my trash to the lawn gods. It's time to find a new service. read more
