This is about Corporate "Customer Service" nothing to do with the store, as my experience there has been good so far. I had accidentally pushed the instant credit button on my return online and I thought it was for an instant credit back on my AE credit card, unfortunately it was for a store credit. I was within my 30 day time period and emailed "customer service" only to be told there was nothing they could do. Well that was not an answer I was going to be ok with. Upon many emails and one long phone call later, I have now been issued a full refund back to my original payment on my AE credit Card and they have "devalued" the store credit. Something I knew they could do BUT they just didn't want to. This is a lesson is persistence HOWEVER not one that I wanted or needed. This is why I'm keeping the stars low at a 3, however am being generous as they did finally come through with a refund instead of forcing me into a store credit. Buyer be ware online! I was looking for some soft PJs and decided to check out American Eagle. I wasn't sure if they kept PJs at all but decided to check out the store. As soon as I walked in, someone helped me out. To my surprise they have a nice variety of soft PJs with a variety of patterns and colors. I decided to get a snoopy themed PJ set. I must say the quality of the clothing was awesome. Despite washing the PJs a bunch of times, the quality is retained. I went back and bought 2 more sets and a few tops. All in all, American Eagle has a great collection. The computer crashed while she was doing an exchange for me and she literally made it seem like I was the one who made it crash by the way she was interacting with me. Don't come here, most of the girls on either aerie or AE side don't want to be there and it's SO noticeable. One of them had close to nothing on as her top and she was the greeter.... Hi there, so I shop here all the time and at American Eagle and I called in probably a few seconds ago A young lady named Hannah answered and she was extremely rude and unhelpful on the phone. It seemed like it was extremely problematic and a huge burden for her to help me or be on the phone I asked for two products; I explained to her that I was just a little bit confused because the website is letting me order them for online pick up, but she was telling me they didn't have them in store and she said "riiiiiiiiiiight so that's if they deliver them in our store for you to then pick them up." Idon't know if she's just having a bad day or if her tone on the phone is just not as customer service friendly as it should be, but her attitude definitely bled over the phone and it sounded like she didn't wanna work or help anybody out so instead of purchasing myself shorts or socks from here I will definitely be going somewhere else ! Probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I have been there a few times and I have to hunt someone down to get a fitting room and once I do find someone, they look appalled that I would be asking them such a thing. The dressing rooms are always disgusting with dust balls all over the floor. Don't know who does the hiring, but it honestly seems like the only requirements you need to work here are laziness and a terrible attitude. read more

Sitting in my car after leaving this store. It says it closes at 6. Its 5:50 but I was in the store at 5:35. Grabbed 2 pairs of shorts and was bombarded by an associate not wanting me to go through sizes because they're rushing to leave. Was then chased down and told dressing room was closed. Extremely helpful staff. A+ customer service and a really nice selection. The store was very clean and well organized. I found a lot of nice age appropriate choices for my tween daughter but they do have a young, hip 20 something selection as well. Probably the most stylish shop at The Shoppes at Carlsbad. The store looked super clean and nothing looked out of place. All the store employees looked super happy and TW hen approached and asked questions they looked happy to help. Nancy was the sales associate who helped me out. She rocked! I haven't tried on jeans In many years and she helped me choose the perfect jeans that fit me. I am incredibly self conscious about my legs because they are so thick and she made me feel comfortable and confident wearing the jeans. Just walk all the way straight to the very back for clearance stuff lol. I was surprised to find some decent clothing for 60% off! That's like Ross prices right there but AEO quality. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. It was just a weeknight but there were enough staff to handle the customers. A lot of times shops are understaffed during the week. It's at a convenient location right next to the Regal theatre. That's why I came here in the first place before my movie started. Overall a nice store. read more

She is very passionate about her job and seems to love it. I love AE! I love the clothing, the quality, and the employees at this location are are amazingly nice and sweet. Their clothing is always of good quality. You can actually buy your size and not worry about it shrinking in the wash. ALSO, it's nice they carry LONG in womens jeans and extra longs online. I am tall and hate having to search all over the place for pants that don't make me look like i'm preparing for a flood. They longs are even sometimes long enough for me to wear cuffed!! There were multiple problems with my membership account, but she fixed those right away and made sure all my information was updated! The low down on why I gave this particular AE location 5-stars: Originally, I was coming in to take advantage of whatever labor day sales they had... I'm pretty good at scavenging for deals, but was bummed to find out that one of the shirts that REALLY caught my eye on the clearance rack was actually full price -- sadness. I still had other shopping to go about, so I couldn't blow all my hard cash, but knew that I could have charged it to my in store card, which was gathering dust on the shelf home... if only I brought it with me. I was ready to buy the pants (originally priced at $49.50, now only $8.24), and leave the shirt/undies I'd picked up, telling myself in that bitter sweet tone, "It's okay, come back for it later... you'll get it next sale. Just remember to bring your card next time," preparing to leave without the half dozen boy briefs I'd wrangled off the panty plateau. At the checkout, the girl who rung me up asked how everything went today... I said it went "alright," but lamented my story and that I'd need to come back since I left my American Eagle in store credit card at home. My eyes widened after she said, "I can look it up for you if you want! That way, you don't have to do all that driving." Really?! She asked me for ID, my SSN, and the address that the card was registered too. Now, I've moved about five or six times in the last five to six years due to college and work, so I really couldn't remember what address I had on file. We probably went through all the zipcodes I'd resided in LA/OC/IE areas, until finally we hit my place of residence a good three houses ago. She printed out a little slip of paper telling me my available balance, told me to treat it like the card itself, and rung me up under the CC. Now, sure, they ultimately get my money in the end, but we must have spent a good five minutes trying to figure out all the craziness with searching for my AE account. Most reps give up or get suspicious, but this sales associate worked to make her customer happy. When girls go retail, you know half of the goodness comes from the merchandise. Wanted to give a shout out to our AMAZING sales associate #du4893 Dani! Thank you so much for all your professional assistance tonight with undergarments. What is normally and sometimes an uncomfortable experience with a teenager was a pleasant experience. Dani was so knowledgable on the product and fitted my daughter with a measuring tape and told us the exact size she needed. Dani took the time to listen to my daughter and find her the right bra even though I noticed she was the only employee on that side of the store juggling the registers and the dressing rooms alone at the time. Finding the perfect jean can most times be a challenge, after trying on what seems like 10+ pairs Gabby came to the rescue! She was so helpful, relatable, and more than willing to make sure I felt comfortable and found a pair that I loved! I am extremely dissatisfied with American Eagle and will never shop there again, nor will anyone I know. I have never been inside a American Eagle store until Christmas 2017. I found all sorts of items that I loved. So, I sent my husband pictures for him to purchase. Unfortunately, my husband bought the wrong sizes. I attempted to return these items on 3/11/18 with the original receipt to the same store he purchased them from to the same cashier who sold them to my husband. First, the store was not opened on time. I stood outside for a very long time but I waited. When the girl opened the door I told her I had a return and that I wanted to return the items because they did not fit. She asked if I wanted to take a look around, to which I replied sure. I didn't find anything I really wanted to purchase or exchange the items for so I walked to the register and asked for a refund. The girl explained to me that it had to be the original form of payment. To which I explained to her that we had to close the bank card on which the items were purchased. I verified with her that it was debit and that cash would be acceptable because a debt purchase is the same as a cash transaction. The girl stated again "it must be the original form of payment." I explained again that the account was closed and asked her if they could put it back on another debt card. To which the girl said "it has be the original form of payment." I told her "I understand but the account has been closed for security purposes and to no fault of my own but I do have the original receipt. I assume she contacted a manager over her head set to verify "it has to be the original form of payment, and exchange or store credit." I explained one more time that the account had been closed and asked if it could be placed on another debt and again the girl said "original form of payment or store credit." I told her so basically when you buy something here and close the account they will only give you store credit? I told her store credit isn't the original form of payment either. Needless to say I did not return the items, I told her to give them back to me with my receipt and that I would never return. I am angered at how the girl handle the issue. I did not ask for something that was not mine to begin with. I tried every which way to figure out a solution and all the girl kept saying was original form of payment. The manager was no where to be seen and in the end the girl was snippy. I will NEVER EVER shop at any American Eagle again. Nor will any of my friends and family. Now, I am stuck with items that do not fit and won't return them because I do not even want to purchase or exchange the items. All I wanted was the money put back on my debt card. Yes, I understand that it must be the original form of payment but the original ACCOUNT is not active anymore. There should be some sort of problem solving skills here. If I could give this zero stars I would. Worst store and customer service ever! read more

this store has got a great and friendly staff. they are so welcoming when i usually walk in through the door and begin to shop. the employees here also are always helping me find certain sizes or letting me know about what new sales that they have going on. We bought 2 gift cards from the store and one had a zero balance when we tried to use it. The customer service group said we used the total amount $75 with one purchase at a store in ontario. We told them and shared the receipt where we used the $50 card at their store and they said we used all $75 in the ontario store. So even with the receipt showing they were wrong, they said their system was correct. The store manager acted as if she didn't want to help and left the poor associate to fin for herself. The corporate office wrote back and said their system is correct even with us showing receipts that they were wrong. Will not shop there again. Poor service and support. Watch and verify if you dare get a gift card. read more
