First off, Dee, the woman at the desk is awful. She's unfriendly, abrasive and curt. Ask her a question and she'll answer with attitude. If you have a problem, find someone else to talk to because it isn't her problem, it isn't her fault and she doesn't care. I doubt she gives any thought to customer service. It just isn't in her repertoire. As for the tennis, most of the pros I've encountered are good. Kathy and Raisa are phenomenal. They push hard and it's a great workout and my tennis always improves when I work with them. There are a few other pros I really like (Jeff comes to mind) but I don't remember all the other names. So why only 2 stars? Well, I talked about customer service. That's a pretty important thing. You always have to deal with the front desk to reserve a court or set up lessons. You pay at the front desk and if you have a problem, the front desk is the hub. If there were a way to get around Dee, it would be much more pleasant and much easier but you can't. Next, at least one of the courts has a huge dip in the back corner. If you don't pay attention when you're playing, you could fall and sprain an ankle at best. It's a huge liability. It should be fixed immediately. If not, they could at least cordon off that court and call it unusable. If they need the court that badly, they should make it completely visible so folks know they need to stay away from there. I play here because my friends play here. If I didn't have friends here, I'd go to Sportime in Schenectady, but they have issues too. Honestly, my favorite place to play tennis is at UAlbany, There are lots of courts, so chances are good there's one available when we're ready to play and it's free. Of course that limits me to only play in nice weather but I can live with that.

Two holes later he came back and followed us for an entire hole, as anyone who is new to the sport knows when someone is tailing you it makes the experience horrible. Then he continues to come back after another hole and tells us to move faster!!Most people who play shoot over 100 so there is no need to be following and adding pressure to new golfers. You would think they would want more of the youth involved into golf to promote the course more but this country club does not care about the public or new golfers. There are also a lack of bathrooms on the course (porta-potty) that makes it very challenging for women golfers, I would expect one every three holes at the least. Other courses have been able to do this. Why would you advertise that the course if open to the public but when new golfers play there there is a tremendous amount of pressure being applied to make them speed up? This makes no sense to me. If you care so much about your members then make it a private course. I will be talking about this experience to many of my fellow golfers and make sure they do not have to deal with this type of environment while golfing. Obviously this country club lacks vision from their higher management, good luck being open in 10 years. This is the first and last time I will be playing at this course.

The group training classes are energetic and can be very challenging if you push yourself, but the beauty of the workout is that you can take any of the exercises at your own pace. I loved that people of all physical levels can be in the same class and really get a great workout. Additionally, their Krav Maga self-defense offering is the best upstate NY has to offer. Marc D. is a former Army Ranger and has been training law enforcement, athletes and people of all ages for a very long time. He truly is an expert in his craft, not to mention quite a funny, personable guy. Their active shooter training program over the summer with the Saratoga County Sherrif's department was incredibly informative and I obtained many helpful tips that I can quickly apply in a life-or-death situation. If you want to transform your body, as well as, learn the best self-defense training out there (i.e. Krav Maga), definitely check out K2Strong. Russ and Marc are genuine local businessmen who provide a great service and are building a quality community. It's a breath of fresh air from the Planet Fitness and Crunch gyms that are so ubiquitous upstate NY.

Krav Maga is not a "pretty" martial art...it's practical. It's an Israeli system that focuses on street fighting skills and realistic, life-threatening situations (which you certainly hope to never be in). They also have fitness classes that focus less on the self defense and more on getting in shape. Either way, if you're a regular here, you'll get in shape. There are plenty of classes to choose from so any schedule can be accommodated.

Very disappointed. From the very first pool session with the gear provided by Adirondack Scuba I…read morehad an issue with the fit of the BC (buoyancy control device) I was provided. It fit far to loosely allowing the air tank to roll back and forth on my back pulling me with it. I advised each instructor I worked with of the issue. Each agreed the BC was too loose but no one was able to correct it. Finally on the second to last pool session a "helper" asked John (the owner of the shop) to look at it. John advised the straps on the BC were not threaded correctly. He was able to adjust it in minutes. Unfortunately with only one more pool session I did not have time to practice all the required skills to be able to complete my check out dives now that I could keep myself upright in the water. We were originally broken out into groups and I later found the groups had practiced different skills and some of us had missed vital training others had received. The entire group did not receive training on how to read the regulator information, but were told to look it up online. Unfortunately my regulator was not available online and come to find out the one on my BC didn't work at all. At one point John told me he didn't like working with new divers because he doesn't have the patience. That became very clear as time went on. If all goes well you may be OK taking diving lessons here. But beware if you need individual attention you may not get it ending up in a waste of time and money when you are not able to complete your check out dives to become a certified diver. They did offer me the "opportunity" to repeat the course which includes a 45-60 minute drive each way for the pool sessions. If I had never mentioned it to them, it would be on me. But I did every week. As I do not have confidence in the training provided, or the lack of them taking accountability for putting me n a BC that was not correctly fitted in my first session, I have declined their offer.

I have only a small amount of experience with this gym from a class back in 2014... but that…read morelimited experience was extremely positive, and were distance not a factor, it would have encouraged me to continue training there instead of finding something else more local. The instructors are extremely friendly and encouraging, and the schedule is pretty accommodating for most people. I enjoyed that there was open mat time after class, which is a very major part of learning bjj, and I felt welcomed from the moment I walked in the door. The class I attended was gi. I can't comment on whether no-gi is offered. The listed cost is about the same you'll encounter at any other gym, so there should be no surprises there. As with most gyms, EFJJ offers a free class to try them out and get a feel for the people and environment. Looking at their website, I guess they're also doing a 2-week-free promotion right now, which is fairly generous. I would encourage anyone getting into bjj for the first time to try a couple gyms and pick one that suits your learning style. EFJJ would be up there on my list of places to try out.
