Poor Customer Service I simply wanted to have a few balloons filled with helium and was prepared to pay the inflation fee. I was initially told that I needed to purchase something for $15 or more, which I was willing to do. However, additional stipulations were then placed on the service, and at that point it became very clear that they simply did not want to assist me. If the store did not offer helium inflation without a larger purchase, they could have simply said so. There was no need to make the experience unnecessarily difficult or make me feel as though my business was unwanted. I ended up going across the street to Balloons, where I received the service for a cheaper price and, more importantly, much better customer service. It really does not cost anything to be polite, respectful, and helpful to your customers. That is ultimately what we are paying for--not just the product or service, but the experience of being treated with courtesy. I would much rather spend my money at a business where I feel welcomed and appreciated than at a place that seems determined to find reasons not to assist me with something as simple as filling a few balloons with helium. read more

This is still a family-owned business, And a good value if you are in the area, and ask for the right items. The trick is to give them a budget, and pick out the flowers you like so you don't end up with a bunch of carnations and other cheap flowers. They will custom bundle with a ribbon and you'll end up with a much larger and personalized bouquet for less than a traditional florist, and even less than the market market or whole foods (perhaps still not as good a bargain as Costco flowers). Again, you have to make sure they don't use a bunch of junk flowers for filler, And they don't have a huge selection, but if you're nearby, it's worth a stop. read more

I've been going to American Flowers for years and for the first time today, I met the owner! I didn't know it was him, I walked in and he offered to make me a bouquet. Not knowing it was the owner, I quickly looked around and found the lady that normally makes my bouquets, but she was eating lunch. What I loved was that even though she stopped everything to make me the gorgeous arrangement shown here in the photos, he insisted that she not stop, and take her moments to rest and get her meal, showing me that he truly cared for this lady who has made my arrangements for years! And even though I could stop the review right here, which displays an owners care and love for his employee, the real reason I'm sharing is because I drive all the way over from Westchester just to get his flowers. They are simply the best. Not only do they never disappoint in terms of how vibrant and beautiful they are, but they are the only flowers that stay alive longer than 2 days! If you buy flowers regularly, you know what I'm talking about. There's nothing wrong with grabbing an arrangement from Trader Joe's or Whole Foods...I'm guilty of it because it's convenient and to be honest, they're cheap. But they always die within 2-3 days. She did not get hurt but there was 16,000 dollars damage to the rear of the car.
