Over the past 9 years, we have had 3 CalTap/CalPath loans. All of the loans were done through Joe…read moreMoore and his associates. Our first loan was a new home purchase, we were barely able to make happen! It was our dream home, and barely in our reach, but with the credits from the Calpath program, we were able to make it happen! Next, rates dropped. We were able to refinance that home loan at a rate in the 2's!! Again, seamless process with great credits. This one wrapped up within a couple weeks. As life continued , the house needed improvements. Because our mortgage loan on the house had such great terms (rate and payment) we did not want to refinance our first mortgage. We sought a second mortgage to make the upgrades to our house. We were not aware that Joe Moore (Secure Choice Lending) and his staff did second mortgages. We saw commercials for Rocket Mortgage. A coworker was doing a second through them as well. We contacted Rocket and initiated a second mortgage through them. The loan quoted by Rocket Mortgage had decent terms so we moved forward. As the process went on, the terms repeatedly changed. Unfortunately, every few days, there was a reason that our rate or the fees went up. It was very frustrating. We felt like they were talking in circles. Things like "well, technically the rate shows changed on paper, but actually it's the same rate you were quoted". Having employment of over 25 years with one agency, low debt ratio, and a very high credit score, it didn't make sense. But our credit had already had a hard pull and we had lined up multiple contractors - so we continued with the process. We found out later that our friend had the same thing happened to him (increasing rates and fees that didn't make sense and explanations that felt like people talking in circles). as that loan closed, we found an investment property in a different state. I reached out to Joe Moore to see if we would be able to use a Caltap loan for out of state properties. I also mentioned the fiasco with Rocket Mortgage- At which point, wefound out he DOES do second mortgages! **should have checked!! Anyways, Joe refinanced our Rocket loan-that we had had for a week. Literally, the loan was closed before our first payment was due on it. He got us a lower rate, and an overall cost savings. Not to mention, we prefer working with Joe and his staff, and not giving our money to a company that lies to get you in the door, and continues changing terms throughout the process. Also, if you do a loan with Joe, there is something else that you get in the process -a lady named Kathy. Kathy is smart, articulate, kind, and everything else you could possibly think of that you would need from someone, while going through a stressful situation. Kathy gets every piece of documentation she could need from you right away. She works behind the scenes and truly keeps everything moving smooth. She thinks of hiccups, and gets the documentation from you, before it ever pops up on anyone else's radar. Once you have worked with Joe and Kathy, you won't want to work with anyone else. Your first 10 days or so can be busy with gathering and providing documents, but the rest of the time you sit back and watch everybody else scramble to get their job done so you can close :)

We were referred to Alex by our real estate agent, and we sat down and spoke to him. Immediately he answered every single question, made us feel so comfortable and confident we were making the right decision. We left that day with so much knowledge, we started looking for homes immediately! Alex stayed in touch during the home searching process, and checked in constantly! He even reached out to the listing agent when we put the offer in our dream home, and he was on it! We had such a SMOOTH and easy home buying process because of our team. Loan Officers / Mortgage Brokers never get the credit they deserve, and I can just say Alex was wonderful. We will definitely do business with him again and will refer him to everyone! Thanks to his help, we are in our dream home as of May 6th, 2026. Thank you Alex!

I had Movement Mortgage for one year. Here's my experience:…read more The company was quick and helpful when setting up the mortgage. They were communicative, and made things as clear as possible for me. Their web portal is very intuitive and has a lot of tools that are helpful to homeowners, however there is no option to arrange for bi-monthly automatic-payments. No issues arose around payments, escrow, etc. Altogether I was very pleased... but, like most companies, everything changed after they got me locked in. The extreme level of detail they went into to figure out my financial picture was frustrating, to say the least. For example, trying to get the representative to understand that my shift schedule is arranged around a 36 hour week followed by a 48 hour week (8 hours of 1.5x pay) took the better part of a week. It was just incomprehensible to them that I didn't work a regular 9 to 5. I had to explain my pay in every way I possibly could before finally getting them to understand. Shortly before closing, I was sent a closing cost estimate. This estimate was roughly $7,000 less than what I was expecting. When speaking to my representative (Movement Mortgage loan officer Nick Swain) I asked about this discrepancy. I was told they double checked everything and they were CERTAIN the number they gave me was accurate. Come closing time, lo-and-behold they needed an extra $7,000 because they miscalculated, which I reminded them I brought up before we were here. They took no responsibility for the amount due, but helped me arrange to roll it into my mortgage. I wasn't very happy, but my apartment lease was coming due and I didn't have the leverage to play chicken. During the initial discussions, I was told very clearly and specifically by Mr. Swain that "Movement Mortgage will NOT sell-off my mortgage to another party", it was made out like selling mortgages to other lenders was not an honorable thing to do, and Movement Mortgage was above such disdainful acts. I wasn't exactly sure why he was so adamant about not selling the loan, as I never mentioned it as a selling point for me. Well, exactly 11 months into my mortgage agreement, I was notified that my loan was being sold to a third party. Surprise, surprise. Lastly, I have reached out to Nick Swain maybe three or four times since Movement Mortgage got my money, looking for assistance in minor mortgage-related matters and clarifications. Not once have a received a reply. The extremely attentive and helpful customer service that I got prior to closing was nowhere to be found once I had no other way to provide them profit or Mr. Swain commission. Altogether, in my opinion, Movement Mortgage is a shady business, hiding behind a guise of helpful faces and a polished user-interface.

Movement Mortgage has a large group of very pleasant people to associate with should you ever need…read moreto. I call every month to make sure they have my cashier's check number. This company has been great the first two years I have been with them. I recently got divorced and got a couple months behind. They make it nearly impossible unless you only send Cashier's checks or checks through the mail. The app won't let you do anything once you login and they no longer want any kind of payment over the phone. The people you talk to are still very pleasant, but all they can do say they are sorry and agree they think it's stupid how Movement Mortgage by Service Mac makes it so hard to make a payment. It seems to me they don't want your money. They want you to default so they can sell your house to another person. I do also want to include that I have never had any issues with them "losing" a payment or anything like that. They must have good record keeping in their company. When I catch back up, I do and will still recommend this company. They really just need making a payment much easier.
