Not only do they give to a national scholarship foundation they also give statewide but most importantly they take care of their City. My rating is based on a new veteran who has never been to this post before. Long timers at this post would rate this much higher. Cramped but adequate sized private lot north of the main area of Royal Oak. Inside is a bright, clean, large clubroom, with a central bar. Good cocktail choices, okayish beer selection. Okay bar food choices, and monthly special dinner events. The staff are douches. One accused me of lying, in front of many members. about renewing my membership online because it was too newfangled for someone to really do that. Anyone who wasn't born and raised down the block and then joined the post in the 80s gets slow and surly service. The members are the same, they turn their back on anyone who hasn't been at the post for 30 years. I discussed this with the commander (the Legion version of a president), and some of his leaders, they agreed it is a problem, but it obviously is not going to be solved. I haven't been back for almost a year, and have decided to start trying other posts in the area.

American Legion post, Fort Dearborn Post 364 has been in existence for roughly 85 years dating pre…read moreWork War II providing a meeting place and social gathering for the many Veterans that live in and around the Dearborn area. This post is the nerve center for Veterans in the area and has a casual rustic setting about it that is perfectly suited as a social gathering place for friends and former comrades in arms to get together for a drink and light meals while catching up with each other and reminiscing about old times. The "light" food you can get is Frozen Pizza, Burgers, hotdogs with many of the members bringing in dishes like Lasagna to share. Relative to liquor, the beer and wine is incredibly cheap by todays standards where a glass of red wine is $2.25 and a pitcher of beer is $2.75 (no gouging here!). Aside from the daily routine this Post also has numerous social events like Holiday cookouts, Motorcycle club, Poker nights, organized sports events, Super Bowl parties, etc. On a more official note, Post 308 provides honor guard details for funerals of Local Veterans, Toys for Tots, Care packages for current military deployed overseas, donating to various charities, supporting Dearborn Flag day event, support of Dearborn homecoming and the list goes on and on. Thus is truly a wonderful organization that goes above and beyond supporting the local Dearborn area and Veterans at large providing inspiration to all on and what is means to serve, the sacrifices they have made for this country and the ongoing efforts they are doing to look out for their community at large and the current Active Military. For all the reasons stated, this is an organization you should give serious thought about joining/supporting if you are either a Vet, Son/daughter of a Vet, Military Mom or the Ladies Auxillary.
