Some rooms furnished and other rooms ready for your furniture. They provide a small refrigerator and a small microwave, tv with wifi and minimal linens. The furniture is seriously modest-like from the good will and there are overhead lights but no small lamps, no coffee maker or pans or nothing. There is no housekeeping or change of linens. In short, Ranger Inn is a very humble way-station for those you who are mostly needing a temporary shelter. The most affordable, well run, safe little community in the area. No one there is fancy. Dogs are allowed and there are laundry facilities on the premises. This is a place that many folks call home-some for years-some are only there because they have financial assistance-some waiting for a more permanent home. But by no means is Ranger Inn a flop shop overrun by folks who do not care and management who care less. This is an affordable long term hotel, run by folks who want the best for this tiny community. By some standards a 2 star place, but if you are in need and want a safe, well run place-this is 5 star all the way.

My boys enjoyed the mints in the jar. The lobby had a small sitting area to visit with visitors, as if people really sit down to patiently politely chat these days. Ha! We were too close to the elevator and the stairway. Noisy. But all rooms were taken and so we had to make do. The breakfast area ran more like a hotel. Droves of people were eating breakfast at exactly the same hour. The staff could just about keep up with the full depletion of eggs, coffee, bread, etc. There was a very slow toaster that could not get the job done. This doesn't allow the flexibility to travel to Orono on my days off. She said that she "booked the best hotel in the area" and me being a student, knew that this was one of the better ones in the area. When asked how it was, her exact words were "terrible, extremely loud with the foot traffic. I barely slept three hours." This had me discouraged since she is older, and was doing me a huge favor by seeing the places to live since I did not have the time. I agreed to pay for it knowing her frustration, and moved on. Being someone who worked in restaurants for years, I felt as though it should be mentioned to the hotel, since my mother is a veteran traveler who has been all over the world, and I have never heard her say anything like that. I called the front desk and spoke to Virginia. I mentioned her frustration, and was just curious as to what could have happened that a 200$ a night hotel in the middle of nowhere could warrant that response. Virginia's response was not one of someone who works in hospitality, or my previous experience working in restaurants. She told me " workers live above where she stayed and there was nobody on either side, so it couldn't have been loud." Exact words....essentially calling her a liar, or me, for that matter. Unprofessional, and for one of the better hotels, I expected at least an explanation like an event or festival. I am not looking for a refund. I just forewarn others who are looking for housing for U.M.O. for themselves or their children that their are better options that are cheaper, quieter, and a better experience.

My sister and I only stayed for one night so my review is not based on a lengthy stay. The positives: - The price was $115 per night with $11 tax. Not a bad price for a night. - Spacious room we had a suite of two rooms with two beds per room, full bathroom, full kitchen, living room area, arm chair, sofa and balcony over looking the river behind the hotel. - The room for the most part seemed to be very clean. I did see reviews about bugs in the windows/doorways/corners however this motel is has a river behind it and it's a woody area. Bugs are to be expected and they will always be around a hotel room in a location like this. In our room we did not see anything extreme like what was posted prior but keep in mind everyone is entitled to their own point of view. - The view in the morning at dusk is amazing of the river. It was a beautiful chilly fall morning that you could see the mist rising off the river and with the trees it was a wonderful autumn morning view. - The beds were very soft and comfortable. Plenty of towels were provided (4 Towels, 4 Hand Towels and 4 Wash Clothes). - I arrived there at 10pm and the manager told me prior to keep her posted on my arrival as the front desk closes at 11pm. - Express check out is provided just let the front desk know that you will need it. The Negatives: - I did have a small snag with the reservation process. I called two weeks prior to my arrival and made the reservation over the phone. When I called back the following week my reservation wasn't listed. Luckily the hotel still had rooms available and the original price given to me was honored. If you book over the phone make sure to get a confirmation number from the person you speak to. - The coffee maker did not work and we did read the directions prior to using it. - There was only one TV and it was very far away from my where my bed was located. - One of the towels had a bunched up dried hair in it which was not ours. - No conditioner was provided only Shampoo - Front Desk is only opened about 11pm it's not a 24hr front desk.
