And more recently to return US flags that had reached the end of their days. What little interaction I've had with staff has been friendly and helpful. I learned that guests are welcome even if not a veteran. Also, if you have an American flag to retire, there's a well marked box in the entryway. Ambiance? Nothing fancy. But functional. Donate your not needed things here for a good cause. But only if you can get there during bankers hours. Not for the working class. No after hours drops? Clean environment and organized. Some items are pricey for a thrift store but use the discount tag of the day for great deals. These discount tags are posted on the wall when you come in the store. I have never been able to purchase from here but when I come once a week to volunteer for Meals on Wheels I have been able to see some of the items that they carry..... I have an eye for things so I can go in there and find great things if I can ever find the time... The staff is really friendly and the location is always clean.

The young lady walked up to me so I said, "Would I be able to get some toys for my son"? The girl said yes and here comes the front clerk telling me that I am asking many people about a "WAIT". I believe in Integrity, Focus and Stability. As a human, the front clerk should have come to me and said, "Do you have any questions" or "How can I help you" instead she went straight in on ME. Another important factor is cleanliness and age of equipment. It was very clean and they provide equipment cleaning wipes, which is a MAJOR plus in my books. The equipment is up-to-date, specifically the treadmill. I like my equipment to be modern and plentiful. I haven't tried the pool yet, but my main focus and goal, is the fitness area. It is definitely worth the price, and you don't have to worry about overpaying fees for a whole family!

There were food trucks, live music from local artists (@qiyahabdul did her thingI am now a fan!!), Local Black Business Vendors, live drumming workshop, black art exhibit for the Echoes of Black Sound and No Walls Between Us an exhibit showcasing artists who traveled to Africa to explore connection and culture. My father was a Vietnam Veteran and needed a place to stay after having some financial difficulties…read moreand becoming homeless, he found Serenity Veterans Village and lived there for several months at The Palmer and Waxahachie locations. The owner Lauren is a truly amazing person and has a heart of gold for dealing with all the issues that can come from a down and out Veteran...she deserves a medal for what she has to deal with! Unfortunately my father has since passed, but she always kept me informed of his situation since I do not live local and helped arrange me to collect all of his things and went out of her way to accommodate our schedule while we were in the area.
