I was in need of a new lock and keys for my house as the current ones I had were not working properly. I called Archers Lock and Security based off a recommendation. I am so glad for the recommendation! Jerry Garcia, owner, answered all of my questions as I didn't know what was the best solution. He asked very specific questions, requested pictures of my current locks and keys and then proceeded to detail what were the options. Jerry provided information which included saving me money!!! Who does that anymore??? He was very open and honest of his pricing which I did not have any issue with. Once all was decided, an appointment was scheduled the next day. Woo hoo!! Jerry is very communicative so that you aren't wondering if anyone will show up at the designated appointment time. He showed up early, which was fabulous. Jerry is a professional and explained everything that was to be done. There were no hidden surprises. Also, before leaving, he made sure all the locks and keys worked to my liking. No warranty on their work. It would be professional if they actually backed up their work. They cost us money with no guarantee and this was after my cousin had them do work for decades on several houses...so we went to another company who fixed Archer's job and gave us a two-year warranty. He listened to exactly what I said. They ordered my parts, as they were very unique, and when the wrong part arrived, Jerry was quick to call me and let me know the snafu. Great communication. They did find they correct part and after everything I asked for was done, like extra keys made, we talked about master key systems for my other buildings and making sure he has an entire crew to handle a large business rekey, I was happy with all I heard. So, with that great experience in mind - I decided to use them again - and this time, I decided to drop by the store in person - and there was a different person there (than I had worked with before) and within a minute this person was rude and angry - I had to walk out. My neighbor downstairs was locked out of her apartment and asked me to assist in finding a locksmith. They came on a Friday during rush hour!! They were very friendly and even more efficient once they got there. Before I could walk downstairs to my neighbors apartment, her door was open and she was inside getting her credit card ! Their price was reasonable and I don't want to advertise it here but it was comparable (actually cheaper) to the other locksmiths we called/who responded. For it to be a Friday and at 5:30pm, they got back to me super fast when I sent out quote request and like I said, they showed up super fast and were done even before I walked downstairs. I am the president of our HOA. We've had a rash of attempted break-ins to our building and this "lock and security" company kept coming out to fix the broken lock. The last time the guy came I attempted to talk to the him, but he wouldn't talk to me at all and was rude. I get it- he didn't know who I was but when I identified himself he should have called the office for advice, instead he blew me off. And guess what, after fixing this same lock several times - at $500 a pop- over the last few months, they broke it again and got in to our garage. I don't post here often because I usually have good experiences, but this company is downright dangerous. To make things worse- they aren't even a mom-and-pop store- they are a corporate company with someone no name corporate bureaucracy, which makes me trust them even less: https://sovsecurity.com/contact/ Their worker was aware he had been there a week prior to fix the same thing, and he didn't bother to take a look at why or what to fix. He just repaired what was broken. Their website makes a bunch of vapid empty claims of security nonsense but I would never trust this company to touch my building ever again. I was provided this number by my HOA in order to get a mailbox key replacement. The man that answered the phone seemed to be confused on what I wanted him to do in order to change the lock (YOU are the locksmith, sir), then advised it would be at least 4 days before any work could be done. I had been meaning to get spare keys for my apartment (I have been using the original keys provided by the property management company) and my garage. I kept finding listings in search for some key-making vending machine company but I wasn't all that certain I could trust those to make an accurate key. So I looked on Yelp and found Archers. As soon as I saw the photo of the storefront, I knew this was going to be a company that would know how to make keys the "old school" way. And I was 100% right! Jerry made the keys, only took a few minutes ... we also had a good conversation as to why those vending machines aren't reliable (he says he's had to recut keys for lots of customers for whom the "automated" keymaker created non-functioning keys, which I'd already suspected). The price was quite reasonable and every key worked on the first try. The human expertise beats the machine again! read more

Consistent, reliable, competent service regardless of your needs, they can handle anything from basic key or battery replacements, to whole-house security set-ups. It doesn't hurt that they are so incredibly personable too! I walked in there today just as they were ready to close, and I was kindly helped instead of being told to come back tomorrow. How cool is that? A lot of places in Los Angeles will just point to the "closed" sign in the window and shrug, lol, which I respect because if you miss their hours it isn't really fair to make them stay later just to help you, right? We had Archer replace our locks when we moved into our Encino home. We provided the hardware and they installed it fast and neatly.
