I called ahead to confirm they could help me and they said they could so I headed over with my ID and my 5 bonds. Considering the age of the bonds I have to assume that cashing them is an unusual request, even more so since I am not even a member of their credit union. The teller was super polite and let me know it was going to take a little while because this was something she had never done for a non-member but assured me that it could be done, she asked the other tellers for instruction but none of them had ever done it, so she popped open a few manuals and went through the process. It took about 15 minutes, but she got it done. She could have easily told me that she could only do it for members or pass me along but the teller took her time to get it all done. Thanks for the awesome service.

Today I had to finally ask myself why I tolerate a business that can't just…read moreapologize when they err, be honest instead of feeding me a line of baloney, and just quickly correct the problem? 1. Today, I presented a personal check to the teller, and explained that the check writer also has an account at CHFCU and is often is short of funds, so could they please check the writer's account balance to verify there are adequate funds before I deposit it? She did so, said there was enough to cover it, and deposited the check to my account. On the receipt I noticed that the check writer had been debited $32 for an insufficient fund fee. I told the teller that I had asked her to verify sufficient funds before I attempted to cash the check! Her excuse was that the check writer had chosen the courtesy pay option and I had to repeat our conversation several times with her insisting she did nothing wrong, and no, the $32 fee could not be returned to the account owner. I later called the help line and emphasized the teller had made an error and CHFCU needed to return the $32 to the account owner. She said, not out fault and can't be done, but if the account owner *and* myself could both come in and present our case, maybe they could consider it. I said there is nothing more to say in person, so no, I won't be participating in a dog and pony show. 2. Two months ago at the other north county branch I cashed a check for $250 and left. I later received a text alert that my account had been debited $250. I was unable to return to the bank for several days but when I went in, the manager tried to tell me everything was done correctly but when I showed her the receipt she said the error was made *because both the check writer and myself have accounts at CHFCU,* which somehow complicates cashing a check to the extent that errors are to be expected. I did receive my $250 back but without an apology or explanation. I was adamant that I wanted an explanation of how the bank can fail to notice that their balances don't balance at the end of the business day. I mean, how many days does it take book keeping to notice the overage of $250? Either they have a sloppy error margin or the teller stole the money which is the more likely of the two. Either way, nobody's fault. 3. Going back a little farther, I had purchased a refrigerator from Idlers for $1200. Weeks later, my mortgage payment bounced. I noticed the check had been paid out twice from my account. If it had not bounced, I wouldn't have noticed that the funds were missing. The teller assisting me with this said it was an honest mistake, and somehow the check "accidentally" was cashed twice. She was very cagey and I could not get a satisfactory answer. I was led to believe that Idlers had deposited it twice. It's obvious to me now that a bank employee had scammed me. Again, how many weeks does it take the bank to balance its books to notice an overage of $1200? I am a senior. Under California Welfare and Institutions Code Section 15630, all employees of financial institutions are legally classified as mandated reporters of elder financial abuse and *must report* suspected theft or fraud to APS or local law enforcement. I'm going to forward a copy accordingly.

As far as being a local bank they have some other places in the valley and the foothills, but not a lot of branches. they do have some very unique things but you just don't find everyday. like how about this how about you can call on the telephone and they answer and it's a human, none of this press this for that or press this for the other he just get to talk to people, and it's the people in your local branch. Now that's super cool. Well anyway I just opened up my new account and of course it does take a little while to go through all the questions and set everything up, but once it's set up and looks like it's going to be really smooth sailing. The ladies who run this Bank you couldn't ask for anybody sweet or nicer. they're just fabulous. They support online banking in all kinds of ways and I am just happy to have a local bank that I can walk into talk to people who recognize me and call them if I ever need to. so I say let's go use a local bank sounds like fun, and it is..
