I totally trust these guys. I am so skeptical of any kind of RV repair places because of the experiences I have had at the big box stores like Camping World. I took my camper in because my refrigerator broke down. I need a new one and he seemed sad to let me know that I needed a replacement, but it was true. He was so fair about the amount of labor that he charged. I almost felt like I should give him more money. It is such a relief to find someone you can trust to be honest and fair in this business. When I had warranty work done on my camper at camping world it was there the entire winter and they did not do quality work, in fact it was worse than when I left it there. if there was a 10 star option, I would give it to them. Do not take your RV here. The most unprofessional, arrogant people I've ever dealt with. I paid for them to fix the steps on my motorhome. I brought it home and had someone that would buy the RV and the steps quit working. I called them and the owner told me she wouldn't keep any of her staff an extra hour to diagnose the problem that they said they fixed. Totally unsatisfactory. Do not your RV here. read more

My Coachman Catalina was not charging the battery when plugged in while camping. After my last camping trip I called American RV for an appointment to fix the problem. The appointment was 1 week away on Thursday. I got it there by 8:30 am, it was diagnosed by 9 and the part ordered. I picked up my repaired Catalina at 12 on Friday. I took my used motorhome over for a brake job, battery issue, refrigerator repair, roof scrape and seal, power cord replacement, and an overall inspection. We picked the motorhome up three weeks later, two weeks later than we were initially told the work would be completed. This was at a cost of over $3000. We immediately noticed that the power cord had not been replaced and two other issues had not even been addressed. They replaced the power cord in about 15 minutes and the guy tried to charge us for it. We set up at a campsite and noticed the sink leaking and two days later the battery is dead. Six days later the refrigerator is on the fritz. We contacted American RV and were told that they would not stand behind their work as we could have done something to it in the few days we have had our motorhome back. read more

Took my motorhome there for several different issues, I was told it would be ready by Friday, which it was. I thought my motorhome needed new plugs, etc.. Called to see if they scrapped and sealed rubber roofs on motorhomes, they said yes. It takes about 3 days to complete. We set a date to drop off and asked them to also put new vents and new caulk on as well. They called 2 days later said it was finished. We paid over the phone and went to pick it up after work. The roof had not been touched and the caulking job was very half assed to put it nicely. So we left the rv called in the morning to talk to them. They talked in circles and then said they don't do roofs. Needless to say I would not recommend this place. If I could give negative stars I would. 2 thumbs down. I have own 2 motor homes since 2007 and have taken them to American RV in Burton, MI for repairs and installation of various things (i.e. Banks system, collision repair and towing apparatus). I definitely recommend this business for professional and cost competitive work on your recreational vehicle. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. I drive from Fenton, MI (25-30 miles 1 way) to have them do what I want/need. They can do anything that the large RV dealers, Camping World or General RV can preform. All work done on our units have been completed in the time period promised and at the price quoted. read more

I took my class C RV to American RV in Burton to address a rough running engine. Ford V10. I was told it needed a tune-up (plugs). I specifically asked that the MH be test driven after the work was performed. I picked the MH up late afternoon the following day. Pulled out of the lot and immediately could tell the engine was still running rough...after paying $800 for the "tune up" alone... No way anyone had test driven the coach. Had a trip planned and had to leave early the following morning so I drove the coach home. A neighbor who is a mechanic came over that evening with a code reader, plugged into the OBD port and 1 minute later tells me I have a bad coil pack. A half hour and $34 later I have the coil pack changed and the motor runs perfect. When I returned from the weekend trip I contacted American RV. They assured me someone test drove the RV...I doubt it...I explained what was found and was told that "we'll do something for you"..and never heard another word from them, That was 2 years ago. I researched reviews before I took my RV to them and found most were positive. Needless to say my experience was less than satisfying. How hard would it have been to call back let alone refund some of the $$. Also, during the same visit I had a trailer brake controller installed...guess what. It didn't work either....I would never recommend American RV to anyone. read more

I took my class C to them with a misfire. It was obvious the engine was missing on 1 or more cylinders. I was told it needed a tune up. New plugs basically. My RV had 21K miles on it. After paying over $800 for the "tuneup" the coach still had the same misfire. I had asked that it would be road tested before I picked it up and was assured it was. No way anyone could have driven it after the work was performed. Soon as I pulled out of their lot I could tell the misfire was still present. I drove the RV home because I had a trip planned leaving early the next day but asked a friend with a scanner to come over that night and see what he could find...turned out to be a bad coil pack on the #9 cylinder on my Ford V10. I changed out the $34 coil pack (Autozone) in about a half hour and the coach runs perfectly...I called American RV when I returned the following week and explained the situation to their service manager. Was told they'd "do something for me". I never heard back...Very disappointed with the work and customer care. DON'T use these guys for service... read more
