Purchased my first camper from TradeWinds RV Center in Clio MI at 21 February of 2024. The camper was used, but in very good condition. When I went and looked at the camper I did a small inspection of my own to the best of my ability. The black tank was FULL, mind you it's the middle of winter so now I'm concerned if the camper was properly winterized, the sales guy seemed to be completely unaware of this. Before agreeing to purchase I wanted an inspection done on the waterlines, hot water tank and the appliances, along with the black tank emptied and cleaned out. I was told everything was great, no concerns so the purchase was agreed to along with a phone call conversation asking if I wanted to have my propane tanks filled and batteries replaced from our sales rep Dave Steighner, which I said yes to. Fast forward now to my first trip with the camper.... here's where it starts. Rear jacks are not lowering, hot water tank has leaked and flooded the whole storage under the camper, HUGE old mouse nest in the AC unit, hot water water tank isn't heating up, TV doesn't work, lights aren't working inside the unit and the ceiling vent is leaking and no propane in my tanks. I make a phone call first thing Monday to service explaining what happened and asking how all these issues were missed. I read off the receipt that says "Inspection: waterlines, appliances, hot water tank" to have been checked over and how I was told everything was good to go. She can't give me any answers besides that I can maybe send them the bill for the repairs made assuming I took it in to be fixed when I had to drive all over northern Michigan to find what my father needed to fix it while on our vacation, "I don't really think there's anything we can do" and says that the service manager will be "reaching out". No response from TradeWinds at all. 2 weeks later I finally get a call back from Elina at the service (Not the service manager) stating that according to Dave, just the water lines were to have been looked at. Funny, I have proof stating other and $600 for my waterlines to be checked over?? "I'm sorry there's really nothing we can do." If my water lines were actually checked you would have found the leak from my tank because as soon as water went into the tank water came out. The same weekend I'm having all these issues with the unit, Dave Steighner is asking me to pitch a sale for him on a 2021 camper he just got in if I know anyone looking. This has been an unbelievable first experience on purchasing a camper and I can assure you that I will NEVER be making another purchase or service with TradeWinds and will be informing anyone who mentions making a purchase from here of what I am going through to have this issue resolved. read more

We decided to trade in our motor coach for a larger 5th wheel since we found an RV resort we live and are not coaching around as much with covid. We called to inquire about a particular RV and Karin was amazing. We purchased everything on the phone with a follow-up visit. They could deliver the RV in less than a week and made sure everything was perfect. We had already been in contact with two other RV sales centers in Michigan and everything paled in comparison. If you want courteous, friendly and efficient this is where to go. The new facility is beautiful, there is a huge selection and the process to purchase is fast. Sales folks and prices are great. Service sucks big time. Bought a new unit October 18, 2021. On the 20th discovered freezer door broke. They verified it broke first of November. Middle of November manufacture wanted to verify it broke. They agreed it needed to be replaced. They ordered it. It came in February of 2022. Tradewinds couldn't get me in until April 27. I took it in that morning and they called me three hours later to pick up. Seriously. I complained to manufacture and filed a BBB complaint and Tradewinds never responded. read more

Bought a new camper here in July. Sales and financing process seemed fine but it's definitely a "turn 'em & burn 'em" establishment, as after-sales service is poor. Found a fair list of things wrong with my camper after taking it out including outside storage doors that don't shut properly (and consequently are leaking, causing water damage) among other things. First available appointment to repair these warranty items is 5 MONTHS out which means I'll be storing it through most of the winter with hopes that plastic taped over the door will protect it from too much damage. I understand companies are short-staffed - and that these are problems from the manufacturing process - but if this dealership can't service the brand new, warrantied units they are selling, they need to expand the service department or scale back on selling units. read more

Any one that buys a used RV from Tradewinds word of advice the 850 inspection fee that you pay for is another way of them getting your hard own money! We ended up buying a used Stryker Toy hauler from them in late Nov. which from the beginning that whole experience was a shit show!... first clue!! We called the service dept as soon as we arrived in Fl in early Dec and told them about our issues of the indicator panel not working and still have no clue if our tanks are full or empty they have no record of the inspection sheet and only on the bill of sale of the charge so it means nothing!! When we took it to there service department... who by the way are sooo rude and all they want is to charge you by the hour and for there screw up...our hitch they installed with the rv on was set lower than it was supposed too... liability there!! Thank goodness for the only nice service tech person there... word of advice young man your too good for that company!! Oh don't get me started about there sales dept mgr.. she's as clueless as them come!! So bottom line if something is bad and they inspected it or did they.... no proof....they do not uphold it!!!! The sales mgr. told us it was our responsibility before we pulled out!!! So I guess you have full water and sewer hook up and we can run the toilet and dish water to see if it works!! All they care about is taking your money and screwing you over again by wanting you to pay for fixing what they should of inspected in the first place! If I could give them a zero star I would!! My husband and I have been looking to purchase a camper for quite a while but haven't found one we could both agree on that was in our budget. I saw one online at Tradewinds' RV website that we both loved. It had all the features we wanted plus plenty of sleep space for our family of four. We decided to take the trip to Flint to check the camper out In person. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the price was way less than the suggested price on their website. Brian, our salesperson, took the time to explain the ins and outs of buying a new camper. So we decided to take the plunge! We couldn't be happier!!! We love our new camper. Hello I left good feedback right after I bought my RV from tradewinds, but after getting the RV home and paying them $995 for a "prep fee" and they have no documentation supporting what is was going to include. So the "Prep fee" was explained by sales person Christopher Atwell that the fee was going to include a reseal of the roof, it was going to include a complete systems check including, checking to make sure the Ac unit worked, check to make sure the heating system worked, checking all water lines for any and all leaks, checking the bearing in the hubs on the axles, checking the brakes, checking the tires. Checking to make sure to unit worked as it was supposed to. and after getting it home, I find out that the roof was not resealed, and in fact there were serval cracks in the caulk on the roof around the sky light, around the tv antenna, around the refrigerator exhaust, that no one had done any checking on the roof. Upon sanitizing the freshwater tank I found a broken valve that was supposed to bypass the hot water heater so water did not go into the hot water heater while sanitizing the freshwater tank. Upon checking the tires I found that one tire had 40 psi in at all the rest were lower the spare tire only had 28 psi in at all the tires were recommended for 80 psi, there was a interior light that did not work there was an exterior light that did not work. After fixing the broken valve to the hot water tank to bypass the water I found that my complete water system was full of RV antifreeze including the toilet. My question was to them how are you going to inspect all of the system if it's all full of RV antifreeze. they told me that they checked the system and then replaced it with RV antifreeze. which was not stated at the time of sale. I have talk to the service manager Amber and the general manager Alyssa explaining my concerns of my $995 that was spent on this RV for them to do this entire inspection, I have asked for my $995 back because I have proof that has explain to me what is going to be done was not done. buyers beware these people are very dishonest straight up liars, if you do do business with these people watch your back's they are out to make money on however they can and that is even stealing from you and explaining that there is a prep fee that they cannot and do not have any documentation on what's going to be done! read more

Took our unit in for warranty work. It took them over 3 months!! We are still having problems. Every time we have to take it in, we don't get our unit back for 2 months!! They can't explain why it takes so long to fix your unit. Plus when you leave a message, they never call you back. Had to cancel several trips because of this. Going to General RV. read more

The salesman was really helpful in our purchase. We bought our TT and it has been used a total of 3 trips (not even 8 days!) and our TT has been sitting at Tradewinds RV for over a month - just for them to look at! We have warranty repairs and I'm worried that by the time we get it back (they say they are short-staffed in the service department), the 1-year manufacturer's warranty and the camping season will be over with. I cannot get anyone, including the General Manager, to ever return a call. Go elsewhere! It seems they love the commission on a sale, but don't want to repair anything they sell. read more

My Second purchase from TradeWinds RV Center. My first experience brought us back. Wow! What a difference a few years made. Brand new building and a great showroom. Karin our salesperson made the whole process go smoothly without the pressure sales you get from other RV stores. Karin always has a smile and answered all of my questions. Brian the sales manager was also very personable and even showed us around to the many campers they have on the lot. I had a trade-in on my previous camper(Shamrock 233s) and had to get the finance numbers right so we could feel good about moving into a new larger camper. Mike in finance worked the numbers and gave us a price below what we thought it would be. That price also included all the add-ons/warranties similar to our previous purchase! The price they say is the price you pay and in our purchase experience a little less. I've experienced the opposite from other RV stores in the past. When they get you in the price goes up thousands when it comes to signing the paperwork. Friendly staff greeted us throughout the process. Karin's son Kris also works at Tradewinds. A true family place! We gave Karin a list of items I wanted added to our new Jayco 32BHS before we picked it up. Amber in parts/service quickly got us prices and had it ordered and installed. On the day of delivery Mike took us through the camper and showed me everything and made sure everything worked. Aug 2018 This dealership is under construction but still room to park and take a look around. You are greeted as soon as you walk in by the receptionist. There is a comfortable waiting area and a small RV parts and accessories store to browse. And clean restrooms! There was quite a collection of Jayco products and we were able to take a test drive that day!! This location is close to Birch Run, MI. The manager T.B. goes above and beyond for the customer and was very helpful to us as well. read more

I have been in TradeWinds 3 times to look at campers. The first time we were told to look around and someone would come out and find us. Well someone did and basically just checked in. Didn't ask us what we were looking for or get any info to steer us in the right direction. Although we asked for a quote on a camper none of our info was taken down. Next 2 times, we were lucky enough to have someone walk us through and answer questions to steer us in the right direction. We asked for a quote in a couple. I didn't fall in love with them so I wasn't ready to purchase that day. Although our info was taken down. I'm surprised no one has called to follow up and see if we are still interested and what can they do to get our business. I get the feeling they rely on luck and someone walking in wanting to buy a particular camper they have available. They don't appear to want to work at all for a sale. Even if I don't purchase from a particular business, if I have good helpful service I will make recommendations. I can't do that for TradeWinds. read more

Do not buy from Tradewinds RV Ctr in Clio, Mi. if you desire timely service on your RV. Last year we called for an appointment and 1st available was 5 months out. Their service dept. tested and reported no issue was found. My husband had to sign paperwork so he could leave with the RV. At home, my husband checked the problem we were having with the RV and it was not resolved. We left numerous voice messages and finally the next day the service dept. called. Here it is April and they want us to wait until July for an appointment. We said this was unacceptable and asked to speak with their manager. We spoke with the General Manager, Alyssa (Deschepper) to no avail. She said as long as my husband signed the paperwork that we agreed the problem was fixed and no allowance would be made for an earlier appointment. We paid $2,295.00 for an Extended Service Plan when we bought the RV. Is this a company that you would do business with when the General Manager hangs up on you? read more

Terrible follow through. When you drive off plan on getting zero help. Bought a 2018 Redwood and it has so many issues. Trim coming off. Hole in the floor. Back water won't flush. Underneath wood is chipping. WARNING Ceilinng fan fell first time it was pulled along with door latches breaking. Very disappointed with the time they told me to get my trailer in for service on a continuing problem. Told me they couldn't my trailer into service until June. The work the service department does is great but, the time to get it into the service is very frustrating. Six to seven weeks to get my trailer in an figure a week in the shop if they don't have to order parts. Michigan doesn't have that long of camping season. This place has a HUGE communication issue. I left 3 messages, yet it took posting a negative comment here to get anyone to contact me. When you purchase a camper, there is a $200 set up fee....that means everything is supposed to be in your camper when you pick it up. The top was off my smoke detector when I picked mine up. I was told "the top is in here somewhere; it was beeping so I took the battery out of it." When they flushed the lines, one of the caps was left off! My first time camping the water came back out as quickly as I was putting it in. The shower curtain hooks that are supposed to come with the track are missing as well. I contacted the manufacturer about missing items and was told to contact the dealership, as they are signed off on upon delivery to the dealership. BIG, BIG problem with this dealership. No one knows what the other person is doing here. I will NEVER be back to this dealership! Still having issues and it is mid July! read more

I see by a previous rating that it was 5 stars for sales. That may be, but I would not recommend their service department. They had my camper for TWO months, giving me every excuse they could come up with as to why it was not fixed. All they kept saying is that one part was a special order part and they were waiting for it to come in. I called Jayco directly to ask why it was taking so long. They said it should not have taken but a few days and to get back with my dealer. Well.........after I called them and said I spoke to Jayco directly and there was no reason why the part wasn't there and to have them follow up again on it, they called back (all apologetic..we are embarassed, etc, etc...) Come to find out they NEVER ORDERED THE PARTS!! Don't you think someone should have followed up after one of the many phone calls we made?? Thank you Trade Winds for ruining more than half of the camping season. You will not be seeing us again!! read more
