During my many decades as a homeowner on Long Island, I've found that one of the most daunting tasks has been to find honest, knowledgeable, reliable, and personable people in the various trades. Admit it, we all need the services of an electrician or a plumber or a carpenter from time to time. Even more importantly, we often need the services of highly skilled professionals with deep expertise in medium and high-end appliances more than ever as those units age. These individuals need to know the most obscure details of the inner workings of products from vendors such as Bosch, Viking, Wolf, Sub Zero, Whirlpool, and a long list of others in order to repair your unit when it seems to have failed but still has years of life left in it. As you can see from the dates of my 2 previous reviews, I don't write reviews often, but I do write them when they're deserved. Such is the case with American Service located at 7 Richard Street, Hicksville, NY. My present home is 13 years old. During the past few years, several appliances have either failed or begun to fail. My first experience with the people who work for American Service was 6 years ago when my washing machine started to falter. Folks who are currently with American Service were able to diagnose the problem, order a part, and repair the unit in less than a week. It lasted another 5 years before finally giving up the ghost. Considering how much use it got from my family and extended family, this was nothing short of amazing. More recently, other units have gasped what I thought was their last breath and have been repaired for a fraction of the cost of a new unit of similar quality. Specifically, a Sub Zero refrigerator and a Viking Professional oven with a six-burner stovetop were resuscitated about 5 years ago. Both are still alive and working beautifully. This year, my Viking Professional microwave appeared to be in dire need of replacement. Once again, it was rescued by the folks at American Service and now looks and works as good as new. I'd like to stress that all repairs were made onsite by courteous professionals who took care to respect my property and leave their work area in as good or better condition than it was when they arrived. It's my pleasure to say good things about the owner of this well-managed company and his technical staff. For all of you who live in Nassau and Suffolk counties, the bottom line is this company is a keeper and deserves more stars than Yelp permits. I saw American Service on Facebook and saw several good reviews from my neighbors. I read that American Service specializes in hi end appliances and needed some repairs on my Viking range. I called the office and the receptionist Amy was extremely helpful and pleasant. She was able to book same day service, Josh and Miguel showed up within 2 hours. Josh was able to diagnose the repair quickly and repaired the range the same day. He was neat and honest. Now I can finish baking some holiday treats. I will certainly use you again. Not sure why may last review didn't post. I had a follow up appointment on my dishwasher and Josh was awesome. He had the part on the truck and repaired it in no time. Called American Service to repair our oven that was not working. The team at the office was very friendly and accommodating. They scheduled a service call the next morning and the repairman, Josh, was right on time. Called 15 minutes before arrival to give me notice that he was on his way. Josh was very friendly and helpful. Looked at our GE oven and diagnosed the problem right away. The parts needed to repair were on the truck and he fixed our oven so that we could use it again. He was here for about 30 minutes and was very respectful of our home and kept everything very clean. Great experience and will use them again for any of our appliance service needs. read more

I have been using American Service for all my appliance repairs- dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and subzero refrigerator. I never have any problem getting someone on the phone as a matter of fact the woman who answers is very pleasant and very thorough in getting back to you and giving you a time frame of when the serviceman is coming. Josh the repairman has been to my home several times, he calls before he comes, is very knowledgeable about the appliances and what the repair is. He is very neat when doing his work.
