I got my Katzkin leather installed here and they were quick. Within a few hours they were all finished. My car did smell like permanent marker for several days, but I guess it was the cleaner or treatment they use? Or maybe the leather? Either way I have gotten use to it or it went away. I went directly through Katzkin but they said if I go through them directly in the future then I would get a better deal- maybe someone else can benefit. read more

The service I requested was a new panoramic sunroof due to mine coming off the tracks. they said they could fix it by buying a brand new sunroof which would total out to $1,500. They actually came up with an alternative option for me to still keep my roof and save a lot of money. Which I am happy about. They really took care of me and my car in the long run. AVOID AVOID AVOID! I called to get a price on a sunroof repair/replacement and Karla was very nice to provide me with information unlike her rude boss who never let me speak and simply hung up on me. He had quoted me for $1200 on replacing my sunroof so I took the assembly in person for them to see it. When I tried to do business with them, I was told it would be $1800 instead. I asked Karla and the mechanic how it was possible that their boss could not honor the original price offered. So I called a couple days later to speak with the same guy who I believe is the other owner, he called me a liar and said he never offered me that quote and hung up on me. Heather "helped" us reupholster our cloth seats to leather. We picked our seats with perforation on the body only of the seat. Prior to install, Heather confirmed via text the total out the door price and that we didn't want the wings of the seats perforated. We received our vehicle back with perforated body and wings on Friday shortly after 5p (and left Heather a message upon pick up that the leather was incorrect). We contacted Heather again on Monday (since she doesn't respond to anything if it comes in after 5p M-F) and she didn't respond till my husband contacted her again on Wednesday. She then told him that to correct (THEIR) mistake would cost US an additional $300 because what we wanted was not in stock and would be a special order (it's a plain Katzkin leather seat kit. Nothing fancy). When going back and forth on numbers with us earlier and confirming body perforation only, the total price DID NOT include a $300 special order fee. Plus, they auto charge 3.5% for all card transactions (and didn't tell us there was this additional charge. Had we known, we would have just paid by check). Screen shots of conversations have been shared with Heather to show how she is now being deceitful, not owning up to her mistake, and making no effort to help us get the leather we wanted without soaking more money out of us. We have a 2nd vehicle that needs leather replaced in it but after this experience, we surely WILL NOT be using this place and have no idea how they have contracts in place with places like James Wood Cadillac/Chevy/Buick in Denton and Huffines Subaru in Corinth. The glass in my sunroof completely blew off one day (how, I have no idea). I contacted a place recommended by my mechanic and went to see them. After putting me off week after week of "the glass is still now in yet" I finally took it to them, and they called me hours later to say it was the wrong glass and they could not fix it. I found ASU and called them. They said to bring it in to see what kind of glass I needed. I took my car in around 2 pm on a Friday. They took a look at what I needed and luckily had the correct part in stock. They replaced it in less than an hour for an extremely reasonable price. I worked with Alex who was very polite and helpful. I hope my sunroof manages to never fly off again but if it does, I know where I will head for help. read more

I would NOT recommend American Sunroof Upholstery for anything beyond upholstery. After agreeing to a few upgrades, including a backup camera with a navigation system "thrown in" by my dealership, my car was taken to American Sunroof Upholstery. I was so unhappy with how it turned out. They installed a cheap looking, conspicuous backup camera via a very obvious bracket on the back of the car. They actually drilled new holes into my car! It honestly looks like I ordered a two hundred dollar camera from Amazon and installed it myself. Even worse, they added a tacky button with a visible wire next to the steering wheel to control the navigation system. The system itself is terrible. The display is shaky and the navigation display randomly flashes on the screen, even though it's never turned on. Overall, these "upgrades" are embarrassing! I took my car to a nearby shop for a second opinion and was upset to learn that, according to them, the camera model on my car should have been installed in a license plate frame with no new holes or brackets necessary. Even worse, the camera on my car is apparently sold for one hundred dollars! In their defense, my dealership dealt with them, not me. Maybe my dealership was only willing to pay ASU a fraction of what I paid them. Perhaps the salesman wasn't as adamant about it not having any extra buttons and not looking conspicuous. I was told by my salesman that it would be expertly installed so that is what I expected, not visible screws, brackets and wires. I am shocked that a shop with such a stellar reputation would put out what I ended up with. It seems they are not too concerned with customer satisfaction because, according to my dealership, they said that was the best they could do and my only other option was to spend MORE to have it removed. If that is the best they could do, why wouldn't they just decline the job?! read more

I was in need of serious repair work on the leather seats of my 1997 Chevy Silverado. The drivers seat was totally shredded, while the passenger seat was severely cracked. I shopped around for a good price, but I also wanted dealership quality. I was referred to American Sunroof Upholstery by a friend and was very satisfied with the knowledge and friendliness of the staff. The price was very reasonable for quality leather, and the turn around time was even better! ASU had my truck complete in less than 24hrs and they matched the light gray leather interior perfectly! I had spoken to Heather a whole week before scheduling an appointment to get a sunroof installed in my pick up truck and she confirmed the date and time. So I followed up with her 3 days before the appointment time and date and i was told that the sunroof department was so packed and I was told to reschedule the appointment. Owner of this shop says he can't because it is against the law and I must pay for a complete replacement. Despite my providing them with the existing door cards and detailed written instructions, they did not follow instructions. Also, their work was uneven and the two sides didn't even match. Trusted them with my 1994 Acura Legend LS 6mt Coupe seats and couldn't have asked for a better job. My seats, console lid and door inserts came out better than i imagined. I had a headrest DVD system installed by this company through my dealership at a cost of $1,400. The system was cheaply made and never worked to begin with. It had to be replaced within the first 30 days. Then ten months later it went out again. I asked to have the system removed and to receive a refund. Do you think that happened? Hell no.
