WiFi - There really is NO WiFi here. They should not advertise that they have WiFi. We had to leave to be able to get some basic files loaded down for review and be able to get back to vacationing. This is like going to a state primitive site. Bring you Starlink there is a good view of the the northern horizon. It is a quiet and clean basic park. Definitely should not be called a Resort. WiFi requires no password. Most attempts to connect to the WiFi fail. You will have to use your phone to create a Personal Hot Spot. If you do connect to the WiFi the Internet connection is slow and erratic. Most web sites timeout before you get a connection. This is ancient gear. An inexpensive mesh network with outdoor antennas would solve the problem. The front desk did not know who their internet carrier was. If the carrier is supplying any reasonable speed of 50 to 100 Mbps on a mesh network all would be usable. read more

We stayed there two nights for some halibut fishing. For a park that would be in my view, a mom and pop operation, they were just as good if not better than some expensive luxury resort. Now they do have a fairly strict list of rules to follow which was no problem for us but it does make for a clean and quiet park. My main sense about how good an RV park is, is how clean are the restrooms and showers. This park scores a perfect 100 in my book for restrooms and showers. They even have a sign which says something to the effect of, first showers in the morning, it'll take a bit for the hot water to get there. Turn on the sinks and let them run until you get hot water. Perfect! At six in the morning I probably would have been a bit upset had I not known about the time it takes to get hot water. The entire park was laid out well so it felt relaxing. So whenever I plan a fishing trip out of Westport, those plans will include American Sunset RV. read more

This is our second stay hear I have to say we have not been disappointed. If your looking for an Authentic camping experience for your kids look no farther. It's like 1994 with kids everywhere riding bikes making friends flying kites playing ball plenty of ezy identifiable staff and parents watching out for the kiddos. The facilities are very clean hot free showers free coffee and popcorn the staff is friendly and prompt. They deliver the wood to your site for 50 cents less than the general store. I can't say enough about how wonderful our experiences have been my daughter calls it city girl camping. We will be making this a yearly experience for our kiddos. read more

My husband and I camped here recently with our Good Sam's club and had a wonderful time. The facilities were very good and suited our needs very well. The club house/meeting room was nice and large, had good lighting, and a well equipped kitchen. The owners/ hosts were very friendly and accommodating. A large (11K) acre nature preserve adjoins the park so it is quiet and natural. We saw deer of all ages each day close by. Our club will definitely return again. My husband and I also plan to come back again on our own. They have two cottages for rent, though they are pricey. They sell propane. The owners are new and are working hard. The park also has an area for tents. It is very close to the ocean and the town, which is almost deserted in the winter, but we were told it is bustling in summer. Hope this young couple keeps the prices in check as they get on their feet so we "old timers" can still afford to go. read more

We attended a wedding held in the woods with a large tented reception in the huge field. It was surprisingly spectacular. The park is surrounded with trees which helps protect from the ocean wind. They're placed around the outside so they don't block the sun. You can walk or drive to the town and the ocean it's just down the street. This would be an excellent place for a family reunion. The clubhouse is large and well equipped with a cooking area. The pool, laundry area and bathrooms were very well kept and clean. We were in travel trailer but walked into the beautiful wooded area for tents and it was so pretty and well manicured with nicely placed sights. The park staff was very attentive delivering wood in the evening and making sure we had everything we needed. The facilities were exceptionally clean and comfortable. I liked the little extras placed in the bathroom for camper's use if needed We had such a great time and will be back for sure! read more

Absolutely loved our stay here! The trailer sites are very close to each other but the people are first class top-notch people, respectable and helpful. We spent a weekend here and had a blast! Westport town is just right down the road and totally awesome! Lots of fresh fish and little shops! You can walk the docks and see allllllll the fishing boats and fisherman! You can walk walk walk the boardwalk and the ocean is right there and you can go on the beach! We definitely want to come back to this RV park! Sewer water and cable included and the price is right! We were very excited to be there on the 4th of July. The sites are tight. We were disappointed with the obvious signs of deferred maintenance. The picnic table had peeling paint and rust. There were piles of fire pit remains right by our door. The loud music next to us and behind us was initially off putting but we knew it would be done by 10:00 which it was the next morning a septic leak had occurred behind us. After several staff attended to it, it was resolved. Upon checking our receipt I discovered we did not receive our Good Sam discount. My husband went to the office and was told, 'we don't give the discount unless you ask for it. Oh and it will be 1-2 weeks before you get your refund'. Every other campground prompts you to enter a club membership. Today as we were leaving we found ashes and trash dumped on our site after a staff person picked up the fire pit we never used. It was on our rug and by our steps! The best part was a clogged septic line again and flooding water from our site down two more sites. I have no words except disappointed. read more

Very rude staff. I wish I knew her name. She was short with long gray hair and wore glasses. She argued with several other customers as we watched. I hope she's not the owner. The sites were fine but a bit snug. There was only one bathroom the others were way up by the pool. Their website makes them look like a five-star Hilton when in fact they're more like a 2-star motel. I would rather Park my RV in a Walmart parking lot then to have to deal with these folks again. At least Walmart is friendly to RV customers. We have been RV camping for 15 years all over the country and never had such a poor experience. The staff was actually discriminating against another customer in front of us who was Hispanic. This place needs serious training on customer service. read more

Great place to stay! Went to a wedding over the weekend and everything was top notch. Facilities worked great for the wedding. Bathrooms and showers are clean and stocked with emergency toiletries that people often forget. The staff is super friendly and will bring the firewood right to you campground spot. Not sure how they got rated so high with Good Sam and Woodall's but I suppose when you compare it to Holland RV down the street it is a definite step up. I am always leary about RV campgrounds that offer monthly rates. We stayed here one weeken last year, the lady in the office/store was nice, we were charged extra because we had two dogs and thank goodness we had left the third one home with the neighbor otherwise we wouldn't have been allowed to stay. We found it ironic that someone who was obviously a long term person had two dogs and at least one cat living in the trailer across the "street" from us. The the pool was closed so the kids were disappointed, but it was raining so they survived. The old guy next door kept shooting us dirty looks when our two teenaged kids were riding their bikes up and down the "street" in the middle of the day but since they were wearing their bike helmets, riding quietly and being courteous to walkers/drivers I was more than ready to call him on it if he dared voice a complaint to us or at the office. He did make a point of reminding us about the parks quiet hours as we were coming back from having pizza at the pizza place across the highway. In the end we found that we prefer Grayland State Park much nicer, friendlier neighbors and more private sites. Although this place probably has found it's niche market with the retired, senior set compared to families with kids. read more

I love this park, however it is very worrisome when I see Mary - the lady in the office - feed the deer. She feeds them right in the middle row of the rv sites, and by doing this the deer are hanging around the sites. With that said, we can't sit outside or let our dog out, without worrying about the buck attacking us or our dog. read more

Overall this is a nice RV resort. It is probably the best choice in Westport if you own an RV. The facilities are rather good and there is a reasonable amount of space for your RV. There are no pull-through spots, but if you stay in the off-season there's a good change you can pull through anyway if there are no other RV's in the spot behind you. The ladies in the office were very nice and got us checked in fairly quickly even while training a new employee. The bathroom facilities were good and there is a fairly nice playground. The only complaint I had is the weather. It was terrible! High winds and continuous rain gave us a lot more "trailer time" than we hoped for. Oh well, I suppose I can only pin that on Mother Nature, not the RV resort. This is a worthy RV resort when you pull into Westport. read more

My mom and her husband got a new RV and this was my first time out with them in it and my first RV park. We came out to do some razor clamming and stayed here because Grayland State Park was all booked up. I have to say, I was VERY skeptical but since we arrived, I've been consistently impressed with every aspect of the place. If you are expecting tons of privacy, this is probably not the place for you. It is an RV park. There is a good amount of space in each spot and a nice tree and picnic table, but you are next to your neighbors. If you can't get into a state park, its a good alternative. The check-in was smooth and took less than 10 minutes. We got free wi-fi, cable, and they had all the utilities. The service was consistently very good, with reasonable pricing in the store, delivery on your firewood purchase, and propane fill-ups that don't break the bank. There is a park for kids, extra parking for extra vehicles, a comfort station with the cleanest outdoor bathrooms I've ever experienced (serviced daily) and a shower with very comfortable water pressure. There is also a fish cleaning station which was really handy when cleaning four razor clam limits for three days straight (60 clams per day). The location is great, close to town and the beaches. Overall, I was thinking this place would be terrible but we had a great time. We'd definitely come back if Grayland State Park is booked up. read more

My family and few friends planned on staying there for 2 nights. They were nice, but slow checking us in and the place looked clean. Everything was fine until my husband got a call the next morning saying that there were complaints and had to leave. We had to scramble to find another place to stay on labor day weekend during their seafood festival. I know that a business can refuse service to anyone, but, find out who did what before refusing that service. I went to the front office after we packed to try and explain that my family were not the ones that were causing a nuisance and the proper customer service way of handling a situation like that is to talk to your customers and find out what actually happened before kicking families out on the street. By the way, there was no pissing contest, and they did not kick out the whole party. The ladies were very rude and condensing. They were all fussing at me at the same time, told me I need to pick better friends, and were extremely confrontational. I didn't raise my voice or use profanity, even though I felt attacked. One of the ladies called the police and 2 cop cars showed up. It was a very scary, upsetting situation. I explained to the officers that we are packed and ready to go and I just wanted to give them my feedback. He took my name and information, and they left. I then went back to my trailer and left. I am crying writing this review because for the life of me I still don't understand why they would treat us so differently, or be so hostile. I hope that they read this and learn from this experience. Don't automatically judge folks without finding out what actually happened first. Your customers are why you continue to do business so you should take care of them. read more

Nice enough place. But, avoid site 119. Right at the entrance and the office parking area. Across the drive from propane sales. Busy and noisy! Every truck that left at 5am for a day of fishing rumbled past our window. And...picnic table and "patio" are on the wrong side of the trailer or RV. Your door opens right onto the curb. If you pull your tow vehicle all the way into the site, you have to walk all the way around it to get to the patio. Other sites, though close together. Looked better. read more

This Park is Beautiful!! Best in Westport for sure!! RV Sites are spacious, tent camping sites are well kept and spread out nicely...and they have a heated pool! Lots of deer, birds and other wildlife can be seen daily grazing in a large marsh area that runs along one side of the park. There's a large play area and playground for my kids. We bought firewood and they delivered to our site! The "workamper" crew were polite and welcoming and very pet friendly. My family has been coming here for several years, both in tent and our RV. The owners are awesome and this park is outstanding! Now that our children are grown they are bringing their families here. We have 2 dogs and 6 children so we often had quite a bit of gear and the office has always been exceptionally helpful in keeping our sites as close as possible, if not joined. You pay for your firewood and they deliver it right to your site! The store is always stocked with much needed items as well. I will always have great things to say about this place! The ladies that work there were nice but it took 3 hours to figure out a campsite and 45 minutes just to run the card through. Also I had my tent stolen from my campsite. And my toothpaste while I was in the bathroom. This place is not safe and overall my experience was terrible. read more

We absolutely love staying here when in Westport. The owners are very friendly, the grounds and restrooms are very clean. They have a small store,.laundry room, pool, among many other wonderful ammenities. I love seeing the deer feeding in the open field in the mornings. We have never had a single bad experience. Very disappointed in this place, one of the workers in the office named Amy came rudely at me about moving our boat which we have been able to park there before after she had us move it, then trucks parked there. I went to the office and the one girl she was new was very nice and printed off my receipt but when I asked Amy what was the deal on having to move she said well it is what it is. Now mind you I stood there listening to her speaking to other customers and she was nothing but rude to them. Best get rid of that one, she will ruin your business. I am part of a club and we were looking into seeing if we could rent majority of the park for next year and years to come but we won't be back. Maybe the Chamber needs to know about your business tactics. And the guy on the golf cart look like a homeless person driving around erratic and screaming at customers. This place has gone down hill. Sad.....nice location, older trees, and nice slots. Terrible customer service!!! I am not the type to complain but I was not the only person complaining about the office help..... as in Amy. There was a guy in there complaining that no one called him when he left a message twice and was ignored and never called back. And another customer being yelled at by this Amy and accused him for not putting the correct information in the online booking for his RV and he must have manipulated it so his RV would fit. I feel bad about the new girl, she was pleasant and spoke kindly to the customers. Very inviting....they need to find more like her if they expect their business to excel. read more

Sunset rv parks monthly rate is reasonable the sites are mostly dirt but fairly clean. Propane service is available 7 days a week and the workers are a pleasure to deal with and willing to help. We like crabbing and clamming which makes this a great location. read more

We stay here half a dozen times a year. Friendly, clean, convenient. We can stay up late and have a fire - in other words no major issues with "quiet time". I take my kids sometimes and they bike and skate and hang out, I go with the adults and we clam and shop and party. Pretty disappointed after staying here last weekend. Rv spaces are so tight you can pass sugar to your neighbors thru your windows. No room to have a nice fire without feeling like you'll burn holes in your stuff because amber are too close. We own two big dogs which didn't add to our happiness because the moment we put them outside on a leash the property owners watched and waited to share there opinions of the breed. Our dogs are well behaved and kept on leases but because the park is so tight and there are not designated dog areas mine barked at a passing by dog walker. Shortly after that we were asked to keep our dogs inside the rv or leave. Its was about 80 degrees out. We chose leaving because we already felt quite uncomfortable after park workers patrolled us several times with the dogs just waiting to find something they were unhappy about. After driving three hours to stay in wesport and being asked to leave because of something completely uncontrollable I would not recommended this place to anyone. Even kids playing to loudly seemed to bother the property owners. When you go on vacation the last thing you want is poor hospitality, cram tight quarters and uptight park owners! I have been coming here for the last three years and what used to be a nice safe camp ground has gone down hill. We had stuff stollen from us while we slept feet from our heads. It was winter and not many people were there so I guarantee it was not a camper. Two staff members told me about their troubles with homeless meth addicts including multiple instances of having to call the police on them. The owner even showed me her new tazer. I would not feel safe bringing my family back here. Also it's on a swamp so LOTS of mosquitoes in summer. read more

In response to your comment, Thank you for clearing up the part up about the drinking and partying but your staff member most certainly did say it was because of drinking, partying and being loud as one of the reasons when we called last week. She mentioned our Son by name and said he was not welcome but our other son and daughter were. Otherwise why would she single him out as not welcome. Also, she said the same for the RV site as one of the reasons. This was before reading thru the notes. What issues were we informed of? We talked to the one staff member once when she told us to move off the other site. We admit we had about 3 or 4 chairs over the line on another vacant site ONCE and when the family you assigned it too went by and saw that he kept going by and was given a different site. But he also said it was too small as well. As I mentioned I went over and talked with him. Looks to me this was why we were banned. And once my wife went to the store to purchase fire wood and the only thing said to her was have the fire over in the tent site and not your RV site. The wood was delivered at the tent site and that was exactly what we did which was fine. I don't buy the part of upsetting our neighbors and them moving. We visited with every one of them and had a good time. Simply not true! The family from Montana that was fishing every day came over every afternoon after processing fish. As far as having too large of a group I knew you could only have two dogs but I didn't know there was a limit on how many of my grandchildren and our adult kids could come and visit. It is not like they were there all the time. Only when we prepared meals. You guys are a piece of work. It would have been nice to have had a civil discussion before we left about this but I can see you don't do that. And you call yourself a family park? Only if the family is small I guess. As a result of a recent stay at this place I feel compelled to let you know a few things about this park. The employees here are uninformed, ignorant, rude, and discriminatory. My husband and I along with some friends stayed here over the weekend with our dogs. Both couples have 2 Rottweiler and between us 3 other little dogs. All are very well behaved and have been through obedience classes. All of the dogs are family members to us and are very loving and gentle. The people at american sunset rv knew when we checked in, how many and what breed our dogs are. They had no questions upon check in but were very eager to take our money. From the minute we pulled into our assigned space we were harassed by park employees. Our dogs were on cables the entire time yet the employees felt the need to tell us repeatedly there were complaints that our dogs were running loose, barking and vicious. Not one employee had the courtesy to verify anything they simply passed judgement due to the breed of our dog. It is no wonder Westport as a whole is struggling to stay afloat. With residents and businesses like this one operating it explains a lot. I will never stay at this park again nor will any of my friends. #Idiots #dogdiscrimination #notagoodplacetostay read more

Love American Sunset! Just got back from our vacation for like the 7th year in a row and we have been coming here since year one! I noticed that the bathrooms have been redone and they look amazing. Love all the space in the camp sites that we get. There is a group if us that go every year and we all fit nicely in our spots. With all our pets. The office has everything at reasonable prices from laundry soap to spices to ice cream. Most shops around Westport are SO spendy even for small things you need to grab. Love this place and have never had much of a problem in all our years. Can't wait for next year (: read more
