My happy place. Its the perfect place to gather with family and friends. Many happy memories have been made at American Sunset RV

Wonderful Campground. Full hookups. A beautiful meadow. You will often see the deer that have made their home in our woods. Best Campground in Westport. Great tent camping as well. And a playground area for the kids.

    Tossing apple to the deer.

My husband and I camped here recently with our Good Sam's club and had a wonderful time. The facilities were very good and suited our needs very well. The club house/meeting room was nice and large, had good lighting, and a well equipped kitchen. The owners/ hosts were very friendly and accommodating. A large (11K) acre nature preserve adjoins the park so it is quiet and natural. We saw deer of all ages each day close by. Our club will definitely return again. My husband and I also plan to come back again on our own. They have two cottages for rent, though they are pricey. They sell propane. The owners are new and are working hard. The park also has an area for tents. It is very close to the ocean and the town, which is almost deserted in the winter, but we were told it is bustling in summer. Hope this young couple keeps the prices in check as they get on their feet so we "old timers" can still afford to go.

Yummy treats for outdoor movie night

Lots of Karen and Maren. We were harassed all weekend-the moment we drove to the site to the time we left the site. Will not come again.....

This is probably mostly due to the lack of cleanliness and care from the cleaning staff. Checked into my room and it had an infestation of lady bugs. Dozens of them. The room also smelled very badly. I immediately went back to the front desk and the supervisor at the desk (Tyler I believe ) helped me get into another room. He definitely had an attitude about it. Very unfriendly and smug. The next room was visibly dirty. Toothpicks and food all over the floor. The bed looked like it was made by a three year old. Under and around the AC unit there's visible mold growth. Probably why I woke up with a sore throat. The homeless population is still a problem and zero is done to resolve it. They still have hideouts in the bushes on the ocean side on the left side of the pier. I got a salmon dinner for $30 and if I wasn't so hungry from not eating all day I would have complained. Simply terrible. On top of all this.. the slots are very tight. Not one single time in the last decade of coming here have I left in the positive. I'd be very surprised if this place is around for another decade.

The property feels like a retreat with a lovely atmosphere that feels a world apart from Long Beach despite being so close in proximity to town. Check-in/check-out was a breeze and staff was very pleasant. They let me borrow a lighter for a birthday cake which was much appreciated! The walk to the beach is very scenic and beautiful in itself. Prior to this visit, the rooms were fairly basic, but very adequate. Today, we arrived to find a beautifully updated room, that feels much bigger and much cleaner than they previously were. We have new appliances, new countertop and backsplash, new floors, a larger couch, a huge king bed, a walk-in shower with a new vanity, and everything is just stunning. Very well done! From the bottom units, you have a small deck with a bench, and upper units have a balcony. All rooms overlook the dunes, and the higher ones can catch you a glimpse of the ocean. You spend the evening listening to the roar of the waves. It's so relaxing. In the main office area, you'll find a recreation room, vending machines, and espresso stand with good coffee, and a huge saline pool that's in a solarium type of building. Their fitness center is small but it's something. They love dogs, and it shows. You'll get a welcome pack for your mutt, and there's a lighthouse themed dog house in the parking lot that you can take pictures of your dog with. There's two TVs - you can stream from your device in the bedroom, or watch cable in the living room. You'll have a gas fireplace, a lounge chair, a couch that folds out into a bed with a nice, squishy mattress, and a two person dining table. The staff here have been here a long time, and it's always nice to see a familiar face when we arrive. Shout out to Kevin! Always friendly and helpful. It's about a five minute drive to downtown Long Beach, where you'll find a bakery, an arcade, and lots of shops and restaurants. Don't forget you can even drive on the beach! You'll love it here.

The only thing I don't care for is there are no hooks of any sort to hang your clothes on in the whole room. Especially, in the bathroom where personally an under the sink cubbie for the hotel robe doesn't cut it. The only 2 rods to hang things on are the towel rack in with the tub & toilet area, and the closet out in the main room. Very inconvenient. The outer portion of bathroom where the sink is, only has the cubbie. Initially that is filled with towels & bathrobes. The lack of a towel rack near the sink seems to be a growing trend at motels. What's with that? Otherwise, so far I've enjoy the in room Keurig coffee service and I'm impressed by the room's addition of wine glasses to the clear coffee cups & water glasses. The downside is the cups are a small 8 oz and I had to cycle twice for a decent amount of coffee. View great! Not sure the rest is worth it.

Much better to stay here then a boring motel room. All decor is antique or themed. So cute. Kitchenette was perfect and fully stocked. The bathroom is small but extremely clean and lovely. My husband is a big tall man so he passed on the rv-size shower. Room was pet-friendly but we dont have dogs. Comes with blanket, towel, bowl, etc for dogs. There is a large, shared hot tub under a cabana. Community fire pit, large grassy areas, clam cleaning sink. Quiet and private. The outdoor area would be fabulous for kids to play in the summertime. Tons of space and grass. We were there to go clam digging, so tried to walk to the beach. Even with tall rubber boots and rain gear the path is not passable (November) so had to turn around and drive to the beach. In the summer the path would be fine. The checkout time was 1000 which was a tad early for us. I just cant stress enough how clean this place was! Very well-maintained hotel room. We will definitely be back next time we are in the Grayland/Westport area.
