This place is absolutely amazing and the owner is so kind, helpful, and friendly. A little back story we have a 35 ft travel trailer. Our new home does not allow for RV's of any kind to be pulled into the neighborhood. We were kind of in a pickle and really didnt know how we were going to wash our rig thats been sitting for a year. Looked around at some truck washes and it seemed like no one really wanted to help. I was going to give up and saw this place and thought well lets just drive by and see if one of their wash bays would be big enough to wash it there. We swung by and parked, went to check the specs, and the owner came out and made us feel comfortable about washing the rig there. The wash bay cleared the rig with no problems and now shes all clean. Went to this car wash today and found it to be excellent. I opted for the touchless and was amazed at the result after going through it. It does a really good job getting the vehicle cleaned without brushes touching it. After I went through, I parked to dry off the left over water and noticed a minimal amount of dirt which my towel cleaned without any streaks. I also noticed that my windows did not have any spots on them and were very clean. Overall, I would highly recommend American Wash Systems if you are like me and don't like brushes touching your vehicle. read more

Love this place. Was looking for a self service car wash in Charlotte since I prefer to do it myself as opposed to using an automatic car wash. Looking at reviews of other car washes in my area I read complaints of the brushes scratching the car paint and didn't want to deal with that. I have used this place dozens of times and really surprised I haven't reviewed it yet. First off the place is open 24/7 and well lit at night. It is also always clean and has a large enough parking lot so that when you pull over to the side to dry your car you aren't worried about the mist from the bays getting blown onto your vehicle. I haven't met the owner formally, just once when the machine didn't recognize 2 quarters I put in for extended time and he apologized and gave me a 4 min extension no questions asked- thats customer service at its finest! The guy seems to always be there, rinsing out bays or picking up trash- lots of attention to detail. In fact if you don't believe me, take a look at his responses to some reviews. You will also notice the lower scores are from a long time ago. As for the self serve bays (only thing I use), I have my car wash mapped out down to an art. The trick for me is to not add time once you're near the end but instead let the time run out completely and wait until the voice says "thank you" then get a full timed wash again. This gives me enough time for a rinse/soap/wipe/rinse/triple foam/rain-x/spot free rinse - in that order. There were only 2 times that I had to untangle the triple foam hose for the foam to spray evenly but those were both busy days and not really a big deal. Either way I have friends that consistently drive across town to visit this location. Awesome car wash! read more

Very clean, all equipment worked great. 4 of 5 stars for not allowing bucket washing at all. (Could be changed to allow when there aren't people waiting.) The water pressure and brushes aren't adequate at these washes to get in the grills, wheels, etc. I would recommend changing policy to attract the small group that like to bucket wash at times. read more

As always they have the machines available to self use. I use the touch free machine and the car is spotless. I do recommend to take a extra towel to touch up car once done to make sure it's impeccable. Thanks to this team. read more

$2.50 for four minutes is too much, sorry. While I *love* Greenway's automatic car wash up the street for $3, there are a few spots that they tend to not do as well like the bumpers and the wheels. When that happens, I like a self-serve car wash. But at $2.50, that's cray cray. read more

I've given this place too many shots and it just isn't very good. If you pull in to one of the stalls to wash your car manually, the credit card reader doesn't work right half the time. It's like rolling the dice, you never know what you're gonna get. There is a major delay when switching sprays so you basically get to watch your money leaking out of the hose onto the ground for about 10 more seconds than it should take. The vacuums are hit or miss when it comes to vacuum pressure. The last time I used a vacuum, it was so weak that I could barely get the surface dirt off my floor mats. And at a price that's higher than most others around, it's just not worth that weak sauce. Also, the vacuum machines will take debit/credit cards but you have to charge a ridiculous amount to use them so you may as well go with quarters. Or better yet, take your quarters to a different car wash. read more

In all honesty I think a 4-star rating would suffice, there is always something a business can do to improve and they should always strive to do so, however I felt given the previous ratings I would try to help them out. The reviews themselves did not make me want to give this car wash a shot, but the way the owner conducted himself in his reply to those reviewers made me curious, and I felt it was worth an extra star! As for the service: I felt I got exactly what I paid for..the vacuum worked great and 4 minutes was more than enough time to clean the inside and all 4 individual mats, the fragrance is a nice touch. I don't think I will use it again because I like my air-freshener, but I can see the appeal. Then on to the wash...I really like that you just keep putting in money and you can go through the different products offered as you see fit. For this visit I used a pre-wash, high power wash, rinse, conditioner, rainX and then spot free rinse. It did the job..total (including the vacuum) I maybe spent $10 give or take. It was well worth it to have the products and tools available. I didn't need any customer service so I had no reason to speak to an employee during my visit. I would go out there again..it's a little out of the way for me, but I would encourage people to give it a shot. If the other reviews are accurate it is clear the owner took them to heart and made some changes. read more

The diy wash bays are is very good order. They don't skimp on the chemicals to wash the car with and it's all very good quality. Brush, spray wand and spray wax applicator worked very well. Only gripe is the control panel with the credit card reader. The issue is not being able to choose how many more minutes. The time is valuable, and to stop what you are doing every 60 seconds to re-charge the wash takes time away from your wash which is not exactly inexpensive. I think the best way to manage it is to let it stop altogether and then re-charge another 5 dollars if your car is really dirty. I'll use them again and appreciate the great condition of the place and available space outside the wash bay's read more

Finally a hand car wash off S. Tryon St.NOPE first time to the car wash I tried the touch-less wash for $12.00. The machine shut off right after the pre-soak. So now my car is covered in pre-soak. I have to get quarters, and wash my car by hand. I contact the number listed for the business. The gentleman stated he was very sorry and would issue me a refund, and give me a free wash. A month later I finally receive my free wash... but no refund. I return to the Car-wash to redeem my free wash... and during Pre-soak the machine shuts down... So now for the second time I have to wash my car by hand. I will not return to this place! read more

American Car Wash on S. Tryon has the best drive through "touchless" wash systems in the region. Too fancy to explain and they got my old p.o.s. car not just clean but shiny again. The rainbow of environmentally friendly cleaners and RainX made a shocking difference and was so easy. As a woman alone, I would have felt safe scrubbing my car in any self-serve bay there with all the clean, well-lit areas and security cameras. Much of the time there's security staff, too. The vacuums are powerful and have a special drycleaning feature. I don't like scents but other people raved about the options to add scents to upholstery and carpet with these high end vacuums. I'm new to the steele creek area and new to yelp. wanted to praise this business for being the best. stopped by yesterday for my 3RD visit since moving in down the street a couple months ago. was not sure what i wanted to do. this place has an everyday manager guy that takes care of people and things. i was confused but the handsome young man answered all of my questions and made me feel like he had known me for years. he explained everthing to me i wanted to know and never made me feel like i was bothering him. he is the super cool. other carwashes are trashy and rude. this business is very clean and always there for you. i don't think they ever close. it is nice to find a place that takes time to make you feel like you matter. i actually pass by 2 carwashes to get here. ha. i will be back and tell my crew. read more

I washed my car here tonight and it was outstanding. I was looking puzzled at the card reader when the owner noticed me and got my wash started and gave me four minutes of wash time for free. It's very user-friendly and has a ton of washing features. The vacuums also have the option for carpet shampooing, which I had never seen before. This car wash is a very clean and convenient wash. Whenever I come here it is very clean all of the tools such as the foam brush, triple foam gun, and spray wand are neatly displayed as well as having the flexibility to move around my complete vehicle. The people who maintain this place are very nice and want the best for their customers. For as long as I have been washing here I have never had a problem. The vacuum cleaners are very convenient as well as having the fragrance and spot remover tool, to get stains out and eliminate odors in my car. I am a messy person and constantly my car gets dirty, but coming to American Wash Systems I never have to worry because I am utilizing the best products that are offered by them. This is a great wash to come to. I highly recommend it. The automatic washes they have are very convenient and easy to use as well. The tandem sponge wash is the wash of the millennium because it cleans your car with the latest in wash technology as well as being very affordable, unlike other washes that charge 20 or 30 dollars to wash your car. My vehicle has sensitive paint and the tandem wash just makes it so much easier to clean my car. The laser automatic wash is excellent because if there is heavy dirty on your car it uses pulsating water technology to remove every last piece of dirt and grime on your car.
