Great exam for my daughter. The doctor took really good care of her and was gentle w it her being very shy.

On 2 separate occasions I have stopped in to look at glasses. Both times no one spoke to me. No, I'll be right with you. No, May I help you? No, nothing! First visit was a Saturday, they were a little busy so I gave them the benefit of doubt. But today a Monday, once again, I looked around at glasses for estimated 15mins with maybe 2 other people in the store. So when once again I was not spoken to I just left. Guess they don't need the business. I am in the customer care business and I speak to every single guest that walks into our salon. It TRULY takes 2 seconds to acknowledge people. My family and I have been coming here for 15 plus years ! Although I am in a different county now, I chose to make the drive because of how great this Americas Best in Buford GA has always been ! It's so unfortunate to have to leave a bad review due to one new employee whom is simply a receptionist. With this being said - Brittany, whom stated her name was Britt until I asked the manager at this specific location, should not be employeed here ! She's lucky I didn't take it where it needed to be taken although I did ask her to step outside off the property. As a single mother; from the second I spoke on the phone to her the day prior, she was disrespectful, not professional, clearly didn't know how to act in a business setting, and quite frankly is lucky I didn't smack her laughing smirk off her face . My six year old son's insurance information was not properly looked into and two minutes prior to him walking into the exam room everything I was told for two days was incorrect. It turned out a payment out of pocket was going to be needed despite everything I was told. Although this happened; which is more then can be typed here, we stayed, partly because money isn't an issue, but also because unfortunately it was important to promptly get my son what he needed. Everyone knows Americas Best two glasses and an exam for $99 promo. It's been this way forever. Rebecca the manager at the location did what a manager should do and handled it so well. She was awesome !! I did already contact the district manager. We loved Dr. Almodovar, as he was such a breath of fresh air and knew how to work with my six year old so well . ( Its not every day you see a 6 year old in this setting .) As I told the district manager Ingrid I will be keeping in contact because this individual is not someone who you want to have under your businesses name . If I don't get her fired in the least, I will be sure some consequence takes place. After I receive my son's glasses sadly we will not ever be returning because of this individual. Worst ever! Same crotchy old white lady at the front desk since I've been going to this location 10 years plus! She needs to go! Always await, always, always always, always a poor experience with on-site doctors and get taken advantage on their price gouging with their "membership". I did take a year and a half break when one of my three year contracts was up now remember why I stopped going and I'm so sorry I wasted over $100 to rejoin the membership again. The last time I went (about 2 years ago), the staff was kind and helpful. The only gripe I have about it is the location. It is within a plaza so the parking has to be shared with other businesses. But the spaces are limited and tight (I have a big SUV) so unless you go when they first open, just know you may have a hard time finding a spot. read more

Cheap frames that break to quickly and they don't even refund you at all. They just make you buy new ones and even with my new glasses they got my prescription wrong and now they also can't help me fix that problem too and just told me its not positioned right and took them away and told me to wait when there ready like if I don't need them at the moment. Writing this is real time as I'm waiting for my appointment. I'll update as my appointment continues. FedEx parked in front of my driveway completely making me late to my appointment. I arrived to my 5pm appointment at 5:13. The reviews about the receptionist Katie are true and to the T. Upon arrival rudely she said she's 3 minutes past time and they're not going to take her. She has to come back. The receptionist Barbra (thankful for her) said she'd ask because I was only 3 minutes behind cut off time. I had already filled out my paperwork online and they agreed to take me. As Barbra is back there speaking to the staff in the back I ask Katie a question and she doesn't respond. Then I hear her go over to another staff member and start complaining about the situation and the customers. When another customer comes up to Katie as she's gossiping she points and tells her the manager is over there and she doesn't get paid to do something the guest asked. The new lady at the front desk (Katie) is the most disrespectful person I've encountered. She talk disrespectful to kids and has no friendly bone in her body. Luckily I wasn't present today or she would have been told about herself face to face!!! I've tried to get my son contacts from them 3 times WITH NO SUCCESS!!! No manager on duty to address complaints immediately. Tried calling customer support the lady was absolutely no help and clueless and placed me on hold for a long time until I hung up. I had the best help from the doctors and staff for my eye exam, picking out glasses, and setting up a protection plan. They adjusted my frames and even fixed them on the spot when the lenses popped out. I had been going to a different eye doctor before coming to America's Best, and I never received good treatment until I went to America's Best. I highly recommend! read more

ABSOLUTE WORST ESTABLISHMENT!! I wish I could deliver no stars as a review. ordered my contacts 1 month ahead . and they were delivered 3 and a half month later. They had no care whatsoever for my eyes care . The staff basically told me i should be grateful I had a old pair of glasses from 3 years ago to use while I waited. My sister and I have been coming here for over 9 years and given we only come in for an exam and to order glasses/ contacts . we didn't care enough to leave a review . But my sister was actually talked down to by the staff. she just bought glasses and brought them the following day because she couldn't see well with them . my sister is an adult and was treated like a child. they repeatedly told her it was because of the way she was wearing them . but she's been wearing glasses 10 years and she would know . and the staff was so rude to her almost as if she was a pain in the ass to assist. I am an 18 year old college student and have never been treated more rude by an adult. The front desk lady had the worst attitude I've ever seen and belittled me with the way she answered my questions. She made me feel like I was an uneducated, delinquent that doesn't know how to have everyday conversation. I myself, work in customer service and know how to effectively communicate with customers in a positive manner, and this women was not displaying that. My healthcare provider Aetna sent me a letter stating that America's Best is now accepting my insurance. I scheduled my annual exam and went in the following day. When I arrived, I asked the front counter person if they are direct billing my insurance, and are the two pairs of glasses with eye exam covered under Aetna. She stated she does not do the insurance. The next step was the exam which was done well and professionally. Then I went to the "sales" side and I ask if they direct bill my insurance and was the two pairs of glasses and eye exam for $79.95 is what would be billed to my insurance. He could not answer and had to ask someone else. All of a sudden I'm told I can choose the two glasses and it'll be almost $200 out of pocket. I was extremely confused. Then I said OK just do the exam and bill my insurance. I'm then told it's 50 plus dollars. (I was given a $10.00 "Aetna" discount) Had the receptionist answered my question in the first place, I would've walked away . I feel I was scammed and should have never paid the $50. I was led to believe you accepted my insurance, and it would be a direct bill situation and was not told differently until the end of services rendered. That's a scam! Run away read more

Doctors are nice, but customer service is as terrible as the other reviews say. Definitely not the most eager to accommodate customers.

I have mixed feelings about this place. First, the pros: the eye exam was great for my 7-year old daughter, all the staff were super friendly and helpful. She looks cute in her glasses, and as soon as she put them on, she said, "Oh my gosh, I can see so much more clearly now!" The cons are that I can't help but feel I have been tricked/upgraded to pay more than 3-4 times what I had expected (ads say 2 pairs for $79). It is definitely a retail store, and I couldn't tell what was truly good for my daughter's eyes versus just a higher sticker price. I'm a fan of getting the prescription, finding the measurement of well-fitting glasses in the store, and simply buying glasses online (at a different company) with all the bells and whistles for a fraction of the price. I will do that next time. I simply wanted the full in-person experience for my daughter for her first paid of glasses--and I paid a lot for it! read more

I would not recommend ordering contacts from them, i had my appointment in November & every time i call or go up there they tell me they aren't ready. it's currently January so i made another call today & they told me they still wont be ready for another TWO months!! The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because of the awesome doctors. Every doctor I've ever seen here has been great - kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff could use some customer service training ASAP. I called to make appointments for my two children. I mentioned a coupon I'd received in the mail and asked if I could use it on my son's glasses. The young woman who took my call said "Of course, no problem!" On the day of the appointment we showed up 10 minutes early and, upon check in, I was told that the doctor would only be able to see my son. The woman at the desk said that my daughter couldn't be seen because I had made the appointment during the doctor's lunch hour. What?! I didn't make the appointment during the doctor's lunch hour... they did! I certainly don't know when the doctor is scheduled to take lunch, but they do! Why did they not know that when I called to make the appointment?? I was a bit perplexed but not terribly bothered. I totally understand that mistakes happen, so I rescheduled my daughter's appointment for another day. When it was time to order and pay for my son's glasses I gave my coupon to the woman who was helping us. She very rudely refused to take the coupon saying that it wasn't valid on the glasses we had chosen, but couldn't tell which glasses did qualify. There were absolutely no exclusions listed on the coupon so I was very confused about why she was refusing to take it. Not wanting to argue, I just paid for the glasses and left. About a week or so later, I got a call regarding my daughter's upcoming appointment. The young man on the phone asked if we could come in later than our scheduled time because appointment coincided with the doctor's lunch break!!! I understand making this mistake once, but twice is just baffling to me. At that point I opted to cancel her appointment and we ended up finding a new place that we absolutely love. read more

I took my brother here because they have a special on prescription glasses: 2 pairs for $69.95 with an eye exam. This was the best deal we could find since he doesn't have vision insurance. The exam was a basic exam, but it did the trick. The place was very busy when we arrived. We had to wait a bit even for an appointment because too many people were there. The only down side is the limited selection of glasses on this special, but hey, who's complaining when you're getting a fairly good deal overall. I would recommend this place if you're planning on paying out of pocket. read more

I decided to come to this location instead of the one I have gone to before (Gainesville) because my sister raved about them and how much nicer and helpful they were compared to the other location and she was right! From the moment I walked in, the ladies at the front desk were welcoming and the guy who did the initial part of the exam was seriously awesome! He made great conversation and was very professional at the same time. (I wish I could remember his name! I know he's Romanian and recently got engaged! Oh and he made this OLD chick feel young when he thought I was 22 ha!). And then the doctor who did my exam...she was amazing and so sweet and she took her time with me! I honestly can't say enough good things about them! They are totally worth the extra 20 minute drive! read more

Last week I was getting the much needed eye exam and 2 pairs of glasses thanks to my daughter as a birthday gift. Our appt time was at 11:30 & 12:00 and the wait time wasn't so long. The doctor was fantastic and patient in explaining the results. My daughter purchased contacts and i glasses. The staff here are very nice and patient. If I could give this place 0 stars, it would still be too many. Horribly poor customer service, and the store manager, Kim, is extremely unprofessional, rude, arrogant, disrespectful, confrontational, argumentative, and petty. I'm a long time America's Best customer from various locations in the past, but this location is the absolute worst, and I regret ever stepping foot into that place. I'd already received wrong prescriptions in the Duluth office, so I only came to Buford to get a 2nd opinion. The doctor at Buford was very nice, polite, and helpful, so I have no complaints about her; but Kim is unfortunately who I was subjected to deal with. First she tried to first convince me NOT to see the doctor and just deal with the wrong prescriptions Duluth had given me. Then she kept coming up with one excuse after another about getting used to the lenses, when I had no problems with my old glasses, just wanted a new frame, so why should I just "get used to" wrong prescriptions which will only weaken my eyes even more. Third, she made me wait 1.5 hrs to see the doctor because they all had to "go to lunch", even though the Duluth office had called to say I was coming at that time, and they said I could. Then after my Dr. appt, I got my new prescriptions, chose some frames, none of which this control freak liked. She didn't like this, didn't like that, as if it were her decision. I ended up letting her choose for me, since she was such a know-it-all; well I ended up not liking them and cancelled the next day. Her and her staff's rudeness escalated from there, so I filed complaints with their corporate office and cancelled my eyecare club for a full refund. In retaliation for my complaining to corporate, Kim was instrumental in having my 2 pair of glasses cancelled, and the corporate office is now investigating that store. Save yourself the time, money, and aggravation that I've had to endure between both stores, and take your business elsewhere. DO NOT GO TO AMERICA'S BEST, ESPECIALLY IN BUFORD!! read more

Beautiful experience with my tween and teen. The staff was very professional, patient, and assisting. I had a free voucher and they didn't treat me or my girls differently. Very involved with selecting glass frames and accommodating with the limits of the voucher. The doctor, Arroyo, I think was her name had such a soothing voice and patient as well. Walked in on a busy Saturday without an appointment. I didn't need an exam, just new frames for an existing Rx. Walked in, and not one employee looked up or acknowledged us. Nobody was at the reception desk, so we wandered over to browse the frames. I wasn't very impressed with the selection or the quality of frame, but I found a pair that fit my face and looked decent. We walked back over to reception - still nobody there. All the desks were full of other people being helped - and there was lots of activity in the back, but still not one employee even looked our way. We stood there like idiots for almost 15 minutes, until a gentleman yelled over he'd be right with us. We waited some more, a line began to form, still no help. Got tired and left. Drove the 3 seconds down to Pearle Vision, walked in - was greeted nicely - I quickly found frames (superior in quality than the ones at America's Best), and walked out in less than 30 minutes. My trip to this location was in and out. I went there to have my daughter's glasses tighten. I walked in just as they were about to close, and the associate was happy to help me. It was a quick fix...taking about 10 minutes to repair. A while back they helped me with a pair of broken glasses...again for my daughter. That was my first time visiting this location. I was happy to know that there was no charge for repairing them. That was very unexpected... Other than that, the staff is great. read more

Dr. Excellent. Staff incompetent. Got a postcard reminding me to renew my Eye club membership. Did so online and made appointment. Came in for appointment and the Dr. was excellent. I really like the time she spent answering my questions. Staff upon my leaving said there wasn't anything I needed to do and they'd order my trial pair (my Rx changed). I left and hadn't heard from them in over a week. Called the store, put on hold. Then disconnected. Call back, get told the lenses had not come in yet. THEN I get a call telling me the lenses weren't ordered because I didn't PAY for the exam. I informed her I renewed my 5 year membership online 08/01/2016 a WEEK BEFORE I made the appointment. Why would you not check for Eye Club Renewal for a long time patient? Why would you put a chart back and not order lenses without calling patient to get PAYMENT for services rendered? Now I have to wait a LEAST another week and I really have no confidence that my lenses have been ordered. I regret recommending my 3 coworkers and 4 family/friends. I truly hope they never run into this circus of a staff they have going on. Again, the Doctor was amazing. read more
