She was super sweet and helpful especially when my insurance wasn't popping up. Reen and another lady (I think her name was lynn, i'm not sure) were able to find a solution and pinpoint the problem. I came here because my coworker recommended their services and their deals are actually better than my dental providers coverage, so I opted to not use my coverage. We had eye exams for contacts and glasses and then got some sample contacts for a week. The new graduate who is in charge of the eye exams is really good at this Katy location. She's professional, communicates well, and is poised. This is the older Katy location that is by Dick's Sporting Goods. It's a national chain store, so you get the deals, the interior and flow of service is as expected and the same as other locations that i have used in the past. Iykyk. It was a great experience here. Thru were referred to me through my vision plan. Setting up an appointment was easy online and they asked for some required info which saves time when you arrive. They are located in a strip center on the west side of 99 Grand Parkway. When I arrive the receptionist sent me to the rear to await my appointment. I was taken into action and my eyes were tested with 3 different test. Which one was standard and the other two a $30 additional charge. Afterwards I went back to the weight area. Then the doctor came out and took me in to actually test my vision. After meeting with him, he determined the best prescription for me. I was given a date to pickup my glasses about a little over a week out but they came in sooner. I went in to pick them up and they test fitted then and no adjustments were needed and I was very satisfied with the results and I can see much better read more

This location sucks if I could give them a zero for customer service I would. I went in on Saturday just to pick up my husband Contacts and I wanted to go ahead and schedule an appointment for myself and my daughter. There were two ladies at the front who said absolutely nothing to me, until after the phone rung. While she was in the process of helping me she picked up the phone and left me standing there. I decided to call in to schedule an appointment. A guy picked up the phone as I was explaining the reason for my call. He was not listening so I had to repeat myself multiple times in the process of doing so I believe he got frustrated and he then hung the phone up in my face. I called back and was able to speak with someone, who apologize for his actions and she was able to get the appointment set up.I would not recommend this location to anybody. I will be looking for another location soon. read more

Absolutely zero stars. We arrived and no one greeted us. All employees seemed busy with other customers so we waited around to be seen. Another couple walked in after us and they started working with them right away. So then I went and sat at a desk and waited. An employee came back to the desk, sitting right across from me, and started typing on the computer and didn't acknowledge me at all- just started typing away and didn't even look at me. I said, "excuse me, but we have been waiting for a while and no one has helped us." She then tells us that we should have checked in at another desk and we needed to do that first. Like, somehow we were supposed to just know that. We waited 45 minutes before we got to see someone. We did eventually order the glasses, but then the day came to get them. We came and got them. The employee that gave them to us, installed the lenses into the frames and then the screw that holds the lenses in, fell out the very next day. I came back to show them the frames I had so they could replace the screw. They could not identify which exact screw it was and just handed me a few tiny, loose screws to try out. I told her they all looked too long and she told me to just cut the excess length off with a pair of snips. Then I asked for a baggie of some sort so I could take them home without losing them and, of course, she was unable to help me. None of the screws ended up working so my son now only has one pair of the two we paid for. read more

We went to the Katy location last year and had a great experience so I decided to go back at the beginning of July for a repeat visit. My older daughter went first and had never had glasses before. The doctor spent 5 min with her. Then my younger daughter went and because I was with her, she spent more time but still not long. Took a couple of weeks to get our glasses, and after a couple of days wearing them, we noticed they were all scratched up and my older daughter had a headache and really couldn't wear them. We went back, no appt cause they don't make appts except to see the doctor, and it was very crowded. Everyone was doing their best to social distance and were all wearing masks. I was changing from my sunglasses to my eyeglasses when this older female employee with no mask on, walked over and told us we would have to wait outside. 'Ok, no problem, but can I ask a question first?' She just stood there and looked at me. So I repeated myself. She said 'I guess'. So as I'm asking my question, she turns her body away from me, rolls her eyes and sighs. I have worked in customer service my entire life and that is unacceptable behavior. I tried to complain to the store manager, but she doesn't return calls or emails. This location needs to be shut down. We ended up going to the Cypress location and got excellent customer service. The doctor in Cypress told us that my older daughters prescription wasn't even close to being correct. That's why she was getting a headache from wearing the glasses. read more

Came here because I'm a broke college student with zero insurance so I googled and America's Best was the most popular low price option. I was skeptical but stayed open minded and I'm glad I did. The staff there are friendly for the amount of volume they deal with. I got a contact exam and it literally took 20 minutes or less. It was painless and everyone was fast and generally nice. Dr. Gloritza Reyes was also super helpful along with the front desk staff when I had an issue with the lenses/prescription. Give them a shot if you're on a budget and looking to save some money. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! You will also be waiting for over a month to get your glasses and even then they won't know where your glasses are and why they haven't arrived even though it shpuld have only been 1-2 weeks wait. They will reorder your glasses and then a week later only a pair will arrive and your second pair is lost somewhere. They do nothing to help and only say "well they will arrive at some point". I was in the area bc there is a store nearby that supposedly had slip resistant work boots nearby. I noticed this America's Best and after the boot hunt fail I popped in to inquire. I don't have insurance. I have a specialist, whom I adore btw, but to see her is at least 300 out of pocket since I lack insurance. That is before getting frames, lenses, etc. So I decided to give America's Best a try. It was busy the day I walked in So I made an appointment for the following week. I came early Filled out a short form Started perusing frames (I already started digging through the website previous to coming for my appt.) On my form I opted for pressure testing and retina photos given my glaucoma. Its $20 for the two combined. I started combing the walls for the frames I screen-capped from the America's Best website. It wasn't long til I was called into pretest With Miss Stella Who checked my pressure Peripheral vision Took retina photos And if I was seeing color correctly. The frames I selected were tucked away into a cubby before I went to pre test. After a short wait I met Dr. Diane Do. Dr. Diane Do fine tuned my script based on the tests And went over my retina photos with me. My pressure is at 12 She mentioned pressures under 21 are great Whew! Idk if that is in relation to glaucoma or in general But I am pretty happy my pressures are in a good range! Everything was really quick. I didn't have to get dilated for pressure readings (Usually I have to get dilated) Currently I am waiting for someone to see me to go over frame selections. This office has a waiting area with blue metal seats. The front reception area has walls of frames. Frames have tags so you know which deal they are applicable for. Mirrors are at a confortable height and distance. I am nearsighted so I have to get up close and personal with mirrors lol The environment is clean and relatively quiet. Customers are generally quiet and have common courtesy ie no kids running wild, ridiculously loud and unnecessary cell phone conversations, or pacing like they are in the delivery room expecting a baby any second now. Tons of parking in the lot. I would suggest making an appointment bc you never know how busy it will be as a walk in. ****In general**** In relation to any establishment If you think your appointment may run long Or if you expect to bring a large party (restaurant) It's best to make an appointment or reservation ahead of time To ensure an establishment can accommodate you, your needs, and if necessary: your party. Ie so people can staff, schedule breaks, and have necessary supplies on hand. ****(End PSA)**** The appointments are thorough and efficient. I was start to finish 15:45 (I arrived early, they suggest 10 minutes before, but I was unsure of traffic and forgot which exit to take lol so I made sure to give myself a cushion for getting lost) To 16:20. Including selecting frames Choosing lens add ons Getting my PD (just ask for it so you can doodle it somewhere if you need it) And paying up. Thanks Armani! But for those thinking of warby parker In texas warby parker does not have an associated place to get exams So you still have to get examined elsewhere, plus the frames. This is frames and exam (bc i did the two pair deal) For less than 350 (My selections/frame choices) So less than 150/pair if you think about it. Which I think is fantastic! I have had to pay 300+ for a specialist. Plus an additional 300+ for one pair with all the things. Granted I opted to not get transitions this time But I am more focused on anti glare Due to light sensitivity. Start to finish in less than an hour and a half? Cute frames! Where do I even start. The dr rushed in first off like she had other things to do than be bothered with doing exams. Then was incredibly rude with an attitude when I couldn't see well enough to see the letters. They don't tell you if your strength is modest to high you have to get very expensive lenses and won't qualify for the 2 pair of glasses for 69. The receptionist messed up my information not once not twice but 3 times and then couldn't find my appointment that's she made over the phone. My daughters wear contacts and just need a backup pair of glasses. We don't have Vision insurance. The contacts club is $99 and covers exams for 3 years. For glasses they chose 1 pair on the cheapest wall (I believe $59 for a single pair). Not a ton of style choices, but, as I said they were a backup pair. A year later, we came back. Eye appointment was free. The Rx changed, so they changed the eyeglass lenses for $25 (same frames) For those who wear contacts and just need backup glasses it is a great deal! read more

Of course we wanted to go with insurance to see if it would be cheaper. But they swore they were so busy that I had to call and verify my own benefits. No, thats not the customers job to do. Second time in this store for my wife's prescription. Pros: You can get a fair pair of glasses for a fair price. If you want some bells and whistles to them, be prepared to pay way more. They know their business and can make all the process easy. Cons: Their goal is to push you as much as they can, and can be pretty aggressive on that. The doctor there tried that both times we were there. She acted way more like a salesman rather than a doctor. After a real bitter appointment we went to Cypress brach and they treated us much better and explained a lot more. We felt in Cypress were explaining, not selling. read more

I am looking for new frames so decided to check this place out. (New Katy location) Right when I walked in there were literally 6 female workers on the floor and not a single one acknowledged me or even welcomed me in... (I was the only customer in the store as well). I was shocked as I was looking/trying on frames that no body came up to ask me if I needed help. I let this go on for a couple minutes giving them the benefit of the doubt then realized how unprofessional this place was and did not want to contribute to the business. With 6 workers on the floor I'm sure one of them had to be the manager... so shame on them for not doing their job. I've worked in customer service for years and if this was my business I would reconsider the current manager there. And by reading other reviews on here... True to the name, America's Best only took 3 hours for my eyeglasses appointment! When I made my appointment for 3:30 I wasn't expecting to be there until they closed, but to my delight it happened!! Next time I plan to schedule an earlier appointment so that I can be there for a little longer. When I was finally able to see the optometrist she was so friendly and caring. I informed her of some pain I was feeling in my eyes and she promptly argued with me that I wasn't experiencing that and then tried to sell me artificial tears.
