For the price it's still a dump. My work put me in this motel because I'm an intern and it was cheap, it worked for what we needed (I guess) I'm used to staying in a normal hotel so it was even worse because I knew what I was missing. The bad: No weight room, the pool wasn't open even though it was 90 degrees outside, I asked for extra pillows and they said they don't have any extra. Like seriously? They give you two tiny pillows... The beds aren't very comfortable, TVs are bad, I killed three spiders and two other weird bugs in 5 days, the service Sucks, it took the lady 10 minutes to find my reservation even though she had it right in front of her the entire time, no coffee pots in the rooms, multiple times their were people smoking weed outside of their rooms, loud trucks and people all night driving in and out. The towels they give are big enough for a baby, the sink was clogged when we got there, got lucky none of my stuff was stolen. The good, it's kinda cheap and they have a refrigerator...... Spend a little extra money and stay at an actual hotel. That place was a joke... read more

Stay away. Stay away. You've been warned. Absolutely the most disgusting place I've ever seen. No TV. No AC or heater available that's working. No Wifi. The bathroom looks like something from a "Saw Movie". Gang adjacent graffiti on the back of the bathroom door. Absolutely unacceptable. The dresser that is in the room has one drawer in it. The rest are missing. Only one light in the whole place works.I contacted the front desk (Mike) and he was pretty rude. I spoke with Elijah and after Elijah saw the room he admitted they made a mistake and still refuses to refund me. I have contacted the parent company Sonesta and they are investigating. 1 star is generous... This has to be the worst motel in all of Michigan. We came down (350 miles) for a graduation and this place was a joke from the start. The first room we were put in had an inch gap between the door and the wall. The stove didn't work, the fridge was unplugged, TV didn't work, the wifi didn't work, the bathroom light switch had no wall plate, the wires were showing. They sent 2 ladies in to fix the stove and TV.. they couldn't and pretty much just left. So we switched rooms, this room was filthy when we opened the door, the fridge was moldy and had standing water in freezer. The TV was stuck on one channel because there was no remote and no buttons on the TV, no chair at the desk, the buttons on the stove were gone. There were linens and trash on the sidewalk outside of multiple rooms. We asked the front desk to please have someone clean the new room and bring a remote while we were gone to our event. We didn't even take an item of ours into this room. The front desk lady said someone would be right there. We left and were gone for 5 hours. When we returned that room was exactly the way it was when we left. I went back to the front desk and told her I was not staying there and I wanted a full refund. Oh they cannot do that because we booked online, so I call Sonesta where we booked through and it took 30 minutes for them to even find our reservation, only to say we will take your complaint and you will get a response with a resolution with 48 hours. That was at 1030pm on Thursday May 21 2026. It is now 1149 am on Tuesday May 26 2026. And still no communication from this "motel". I called Sonesta again this morning to be told that the motels resolution is that they will not issue a refund but offer me a discounted stay... Umm absolutely not. You couldn't pay me to stay at this hell hole. The people smoking dope on the corner and passed out in lawn should have clued me in that this wasn't the place for us. So now I have to wait another 24 to 48 to see if this place will communicate to the additional complaint that I filed this morning. The only resolution is refunding my money, otherwise I will be contacting the BBB, health department, and anyone else I can think of to bring a wrath of fury on this hell hole. I don't even know how it's legal to operate in this condition. So before booking do yourself a favor and review their nice clean and well put together photos online, then please come look at the photos in these reviews to see what you will really be paying for... Lol when i put one start it asked what could improve. Lol Everything! Run the place down and start again. Not sure why they call this place a hotel or motel. This is a crackhouse. Great location, but if you want to stay healthy don't go there. I went, i saw, I cancelled and they kept my money and I spend the night in my car. I was supper uncomfortable but I felt safer. After checking into my room I found a cockroach on the table and dried urine on the toilet seat. I returned to the office to request another room, only to find in the second room the bed hadn't been made and towels on the floor. The third room I was shown had an energy drink on the table and cigarettes in the ashtray. I returned to the office and requested a refund only to be told that the registration I signed clearly states "No Refunds!" Because they had my signature on the registration my bank wouldn't issue a refund. Lesson learned? Always check your room "before" you pay for it! Horrible place. I was comin in from a 7hr drive and booked through Priceline. When I showed up there was no power and no management. They have a "night door" so I stepped inside and a note said to call a number if checking in after 9am and someone will bring you a key. It was a disconnected number so I never got ahold of anyone for a refund and the next day there was still no one there. Don't stay here! read more

In January 2019 I booked a room, with double beds, for September 7, 2019, through Expedia. I go to check in and they say Expedia told them it was a room with a single queen, which is a lie! I have my confirmation email from Expedia proving it. America's Best, isn't! They gave my room away and then told me they couldn't refund me without the owner's approval. What kind of bullshit is this? I just might have to put the charge in dispute with the credit card company and reverse the charge. read more

I applaud the America's Best Value Inn in Jackson, MI for taking "best value" to the next level. Allow me to explain: - In our group, over half of us got rooms where the air coming from the heater smelled like cigarette smoke. If you have asthma, you'll have to choose between freezing or not being able to breathe. (I blame this on the long term residents staying here probably because it's cheaper than rent -- noticed a few people who smoked every night, right in front of the air intake for their rooms. The hotel staff doesn't care enough to do anything about this.) - The showers are grimey and has inconsistent water temperature. Also, the water is really hard. This combination means you will never feel clean after taking a shower here. - We found suspicious brown stains on two of our bed sheets. When we called the front desk to swap them, they said that housekeeping didn't have any extras. What. On the bright side, I didn't see any cockroaches or other critters, and having a mini fridge in your room can be convenient. Still, that's not enough of a reason to consider coming here. Instead, consider staying in your car and putting hotel money toward gas to run the engine all night. Or squat in the camping & outdoors section of a 24/7 Walmart. read more

We told Management, showed them pictures, and their response was "well our housekeeper said she cleaned it" Umm NO that THING that you call a housekeeper didn't actually clean s**** literally and your all nasty!! Most of the people there live there and are on meth. We saw a drug dealer that was staying there cussing at another man for saying his name outside. A man came up to my fiance asking to buy from him right after we pulled in. You could hear everything that everyone was saying outside the room because people were yelling constantly. The room smelled like mildew and the bed was a bumpy mess. I told the man at the front desk that we were leaving an hour after we checked in because we didn't feel safe and when we told him why he said he could make a note but nothing else....Out $110 because I paid extra for a jacuzzi room...BIG MISTAKE...no refund...probably should have called the police and reported what we saw. read more

This was probably one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. We checked in very late at night after an all day drive after booking our room on Expedia. We needed a quick place to sleep for the night because we had an AirBnB booked for the rest of our stay. When I checked in the man behind the window ran my card and when I asked if he was billing me twice he said he wasn't, and that it was just to verify the card. I then had to say my PIN out loud, because the card swiper couldn't reach the window, which concerned me, but it was late. The room was alright, for the most part, but it had a smoke odor and the bath tub was fairly gross. I decided to skip the shower because I didn't want to end up more dirty than I already was. The next morning, immediately after checking out, I checked my bank and noticed that they DID charge me twice. I called the desk clerk right away and he said that he would take care of it and that it wouldn't hit my account...except it did, two days later on Saturday. I called Expedia and they called the hotel to ask what was going on. The manager at the hotel told them that it could take up to 10 business days for me to get my money back. I called the hotel at this point to see what could be done. It was the same clerk that had been there when I checked out and called about the double charge. He said the same 10 day thing and proceeded to get extremely rude. When I brought up the shower issues he started cursing at me, saying I was "unprofessionable" (SIC), and that I was just trying to extort the hotel. I wasn't being rude or belligerent with him and wasn't asking for anything besides the money they had essentially stolen from me. When I tried to get his name so I could speak to a manager he refused to give it to me, started acting very nervous and hung up on me. When a manager from the parent company of this hotel chain called he did the same thing to her and also hung up on her. Needless to say, this hotel is gross and the staff is out of control. I was never contacted back by the general manager and I would never stay here again even if you paid me to. read more

My wife and I had the unfortunate opportunity to stay at this establishment for a few weeks leading up to the purchase of our house. During the time that we were there, I had a homeless person knock on our door and ask for cans or bottles. We had someone pound on our door at 5 in the morning because he forgot what room his brother was in. There was blaten drug use by neighbors in the parking lot. There was dog crap all over any grass spot on the property, making it unpleasant to go for a walk. After an early check out, I am still trying to get a promised refund 2 months later. There is a Holiday Inn one exit away, it is worth an extra $10-$20 per night to feel safe and comfortable. read more

I pull up to the motel start shaking my head this cant be our motel walked in to lobby in which was clean I told the ladies that I would like to see the room before taking she then said " it doesnt matter we already charged your card" I told her to just give me the key. The carpet and floors were patched the bedding looked old furniture with scrapes , just nasty I walked out scratching like I was being attract by fleas. The pictures they show must have been fake . They refused to give me back my money ! No one should pay almost 200 for a s#!$ hole. I want my money back for false advertising! My sister and her 3 baby heat went out in her house. She need to have a warm place for her kids to sleep, so she went here. 1 hour after being there they called down and asked why she was there. The room was in her baby daddy's name. She explained the situation and offered to give them her ID. The man told her no need just needed her name. 45 mins later the police where there. The police said that she refused to leave. (mind you she was never asked to leave). American Best Value then said she needed to go with her 3 babies in the cold middle of the night. She had paid for 3 night, when she asked for her money back she was told no. That she was fighting. Fighting with who the 9yr old, 7 yr old, or the 6 month old baby?? I called to talk to Manager Candi she was rude and nasty. " oh well don't know what to tell you no refund" so she paid for 3 nights got to stay 45 mins and they kept all her money. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! We stayed her back in June. When we pulled up there were people outside of rooms smoking. Pretty sure we saw a drug deal go down. I should have followed my gut and not stayed here. My boyfriend went in to check us in. We were both thinking, maybe the room won't be awful. We are only staying one night. Ha! Not even close. The room wreaked of stale smoke. The pillows were setup like someone had sat on the bed and watched TV. The door barely shut. We didn't feel comfortable, so we went to ask for a refund and not even stay at the hotel. This was at 4:00 pm, not after 6:00 pm or late in the evening. The woman told us she couldn't do the refund and their GM had to do it. The GM was suppose to be available on Saturday. When I called Saturday the man told me she wouldn't be back until Tuesday. I have emailed the company and because each hotel is privately owned, the GM has to make the call. I received 1 email asking for additional information, blaming me for not asking to change rooms, and the offer of another hotel stay covered. When I responded back answering the additional questions and said I did NOT want an additional hotel stay, I wanted a refund. That was over 4 weeks ago and I have NOT heard another word. I will NEVER stay at this brand hotel again. The lack of communication is horrendous and the state of this hotel is unacceptable! read more
