I must say we had a beautiful stay. I got married and this was my hotel of choice. I stayed two…read moreseparate nights once with my family and then once with my husband, back to back days. So this will help the review. The Thursday night we stayed was my mother and I, she got a junior suite. It had 2 king size beds, a beautiful living room area with a lot of seating and tv, a huge walk in closet and beautiful decor all around. This was a perfect set up for all the girls to get ready for the wedding the next day, it was spacious and made for beautiful pictures. Some areas do need a little cleaning up, and some decor needed a little tweaking but overall the room was magical. We stayed on the 10th floor and overlooked the city, it was a beautiful view. An issue that I ran into was the doors slam HARD. You'll get used to it but it sounds so loud you can hear everyone leaving their rooms if they don't slowly close the door themselves. Also the toilets when you sit they move, kind of feels like they're broken even though they aren't so be mindful of that. And then being that high up be mindful it takes about 5-10 minutes for the shower water to warm up. It does get extremely hot after that waiting period but if you didn't know you'd think there's no hot water. The check in process both times was pretty smooth. When my husband and I checked in for our stay, the lady who checked us in was pushy and kind of rude. I didn't like her very much, an older taller woman. All the younger people were sweet as pie and very helpful. We stayed In a one bed and this was excessively smaller to what I had the night before of course but we worked with it. I think for the price point for this room it didn't match. Yet again we needed the hotel for pictures and the ambience, and it did its job being able to take pictures in the lobby, the grand staircase the balcony area all of those were worth it. But I would never get that room again , it's not worth it. The decor is beautiful don't get me wrong but we had too much stuff from the wedding that room became extremely tight- fast. The elevators are very small, and creepy. But they did their job. The security personnel were great. They did their job, were great to talk to, and very kind. They even helped us navigate places- when we had questions. They became like our friends because we used them a lot since so many of us were in and out to prep for my wedding adventures. All and all I had a great time.

Long overdue review for my (2) night business stay at this hotel, let's go!…read more- I'm loyal to Hyatt, however- no options in D/T Providence...thus Hilton is my next choice - I've never stayed at a "Graduate" property, and yes they are different! - I like the idea of an older building/hotel that "fell out of favor" and gets renovated (it has character!) - Front desk/service was very good upon check in - Room was upgraded b/c of my status with Hilton (thus a bigger room/suite) - Although the decor of the room clashed AND no way would I ever decorate like that, it had a good vibe - Room was big, clean and comfortable - If/when I were to head to Providence again for business, yes I would stay here again

Avoid This Hotel We came to the Residence Inn Providence…read moreDowntown for one night to test it out before committing to a full week. They charged us $278+ for that single night, which already felt very high for Providence. The room had a strong air freshener smell upon arrival. At around 1:30 AM, I woke up to an overpowering urine odor that burned my nose and throat. (I have dogs, so I know the smell well.) It was even worse in the bathroom -- so bad I nearly threw up while trying to shower. I called the front desk at 5 AM. They said the manager would call me back, but no one ever did. We had a Brown University tour that day. I requested a 4 PM late checkout and they agreed to an exception. However, when the tour ran long and we returned after 4 PM, the manager Mia Haley charged us a $100 late fee and said we should be also charged for a second full night because housekeeping had left and they couldn't sell the room. I asked how they could sell a room with such a terrible stench and dirty carpet (we had to wear flip-flops the whole time). There was no discount, no refund, and no real effort to resolve the unbearable conditions. We immediately switched to the Omni Providence Hotel, which is 4 star and we paid $198 per night which was fantastic -- excellent service and a clean, comfortable room. This was completely unacceptable for a Marriott Bonvoy property. Between the poor cleanliness, strong odors, and unhelpful customer service (including the $100 late fee), we will never stay here again Or at another Marriott! Strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
