If I could give negative 5 stars, I ABSOLUTELY would. They receive deposits that are automatically deducted from my paycheck, which are supposed to appear on my Ameriflex card for benefits like parking. Some way, somehow the deposits NEVER appear on the card. When you ask them about it, they say "Oh, your employer never submitted those deposits." Lies. Update: So I resubmitted the form with all the info Ameriflex asked for and it was still rejected. EVERYTHING that is required on their form rejection letter is in the receipt I submitted. When I called I was told there is another form to fill out that the school needs to sign. Two points 1) this other mystery form is IMPOSSIBLE to find on their website and 2) the call center had no response to how the school is meant to sign the forms when ALL THE SCHOOLS ARE SHUT BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC. This run around is completely insane. I complained to them about the absurd run around and was told someone would call me back. It has been almost a week and I am still waiting for this call. Original post: Horrible service and impossible to process claims and get legitimate refunds processed. The paperwork requirements for submitting claims for dependent care account and flex spending accounts are not explained, and they love to simply reject away and ask you to run around getting more and more paperwork. Sometimes they have the info in their files already and just couldn't be bothered to look it up (e.g. asking for a claim to have my daughters DOB on the claim receipt, when they already have this in their system but couldn't be bothered to check this themselves. NO WHERE on their site do they even explain that this is required - except AFTER they reject the claim). Other times they seem to create new requirements that are not disclosed. The online claim system is also horribly cryptic and not at all transparent. It is very hard to get details on where claims are, why they are rejected etc etc. They seem to LOVE to do anything they can to make their customer's lives harder, and keep your money (or return it to your employer). So anyone thinking about signing up should beware that you may not see your money ever again.... read more

Awful experience with registration, adding a spouse, and customer service in 3 separate calls with Howard. They never added spouse to system despite us paying for QB + spouse then waiting the 2 weeks they told us for it to be processed. Then we call Ameriflex when provider says we're still not active to be told they never had spouse name (not sure how that works) so we waited for nothing. Then to be told we had paid was for coverage that was 2 months ago and not current. So then we paid in full. Then called back. Saga still isn't over as I write this. Much time wasted on the phone with Howard who has an impressively rude and unhelpful attitude for someone who deals directly with clients. Howard informed us of name not in account but not payment. Did not do a thorough job of informing client. The woman I luckily got on my 3rd call told me about payment, not Howard. So we waited more days after adding name, then called and found out payment was new issue. This is healthcare for someone with a debilitating autoimmune disease. These people are absolutely terrible. After one use, our card was shut off until we could prove we used the card for medical means (AND WE DID). We've then had to send them claim forms three-four times each! What, do they get them in the mail then just shove them on top of a big pile and forget about them? Then tell us, "Oh... send it again." I have been using this Ameriflex commuter benefit through my job GoPuff, I set it up to where it would automatically take $50 out of every check. I realized that it was too much and also i was only allowed to use it on Uber share, Lyft Line and traun tickets (what I mainly got). I didn't know this when i fist got it. not enough information was guven from either end, Ameriflex and GoPuff. I had tried to get help through ameriflex and my job on how to change it or stop it. Ameriflex told me through their chat that it was paused but the following pay it took money out and it kept taking money out. Now i'm leaving my job and they are telling me i cannot take the funds out. I have no Idea what to do besides go to the labor department. My companies Benefit Team emailed me back saying I will not be able to have access to the account or transfer the money out. There is over 300$ in that account, the money has already been taxed and taken out of previous checks i worked for. I only thought this benefit was going to help but it has made my life such a struggle. read more

Shocking experiences with this firm. Unfortunately, my firm uses this company to administer both it's FSAs and HSAs, so I'm stuck with these over zealous administrators. My account was arbitrarily moved into an inactive status freezing the funds - my hard earned money inaccessible! Who do they think they are?!?! My company had to call to activate the account - since when does my employer have control of my earned money?!?! Don't even get me started on the ridiculous receipt requests. The liable party is ME! I was extremely dissapointed with the quality of the customer service representation. I called once and the rep on the phone was very rude and sarcastic. I called back and received someone a little less rude but equally sarcastic. Your customer service is the worst that I have dealt with in a very long time and neither of them seemed to want to really help. It felt as if I had to drag or force the information I was looking for out of them and forget about them going out of their way for me. I wish I can choose the star to negative for this company. Ameriflex doesn't like people to claim the money contributed into it every paycheck. I join this "before tax contribution from my every paycheck" for paying my family medical expenses eg doctor bills after copay, deductible, medicine OTC etc for many years. Recently, they denied my claims and locked my account for further use. The representative needs me to submit the ITEMIZED receipts for the last 2 expenses until the matter is resolved. In fact, I already did it for couple times by their stupid/terrible/horrible app. The receipts from the doctors are still not acceptable. I'm in the middle. The doctors' itemized receipts are this way they insist in not acceptable. What should I do now? It's totally very frustrated. No help at all. I only see my money gone and be took it by the US government after 1 calendar year. For people in the dependent care on this program, I had the worst experience. I joined dependent care for my kids couple years ago. Before joined it, the representative said that "xxxxxxxxxx" day care center was eligible. When paid the first bill of "xxxxxxxxxx" day care center, the card was denied. Called after called, the representative said the merchant code was not matched. Struggling after struggling, stopped the contribution from my every paycheck took almost a year to get back the money. The weird part is the representative said the account could not be zero, even reimbursing/giving back. The money contributed still need to leave some inside the account. I HATE AMERIFLEX. I agree with the earlier review, I think it's run by 2 people in a garage. When I call their 1888 number I never get a person even after being on hold for 30 minutes. AND their automative teller tells me my balance and then tells me I do not have an account based on my social secuirty number. How can I have a balance and no account!? I left a message on their voicemail and I never got a call back. I submited an email inquairy and they got back to me ... 7 days later and said to give them a call. Really!? My "account executive" is rude and I swear he is 12. I have withdrawn as much of my money from the plan (dependant care and transit) with the exception of my medical expense account because I can't. Terrible claims process and even slower at reimbursements. As a tax professional who is currently sitting for the CPA exam and passed the Reg section, they make the process far more difficult that is required and drag their feet at every corner. The customer service staff is extremely rude and could really care less about solving your problem. If it wasn't for the dependent care expense credit cap, I would not even bother with the FSA dependent care. This company is the absolute worst. I submitted paperwork regarding an MRI back in JUNE. The company has deemed the flex spending as ineligible but can't give me a reason why and agree that all requested information is available on the receipt. It's a puzzle to them. I called no less than five times and I'm always told it will go up for review again which will take 3-5 business days. Nothing EVER happens. I have asked to speak to supervisors and I sit on hold for over 25 minutes and one can never be found. I get told that a supervisor will email me. I have yet to hear from one. I have requested additional cards and submitted paperwork for that as well. (Apparently it's not possible to request additional cards over the phone). No response. I will purchase a credit card and deposit money in that to budget for medical expenses. Never again will I give this company my money. read more

For people who deal with insurance information on a daily basis, you would think they could read the itemized forms sent from my Doctor or Dentist; they can't unless it is "PLAINLY" staring them in the face. When they reject your claims they give you absolutely NO REASON in their email response as to why they rejected them. Then when you call them to discuss the claim, you have to go through a series of gate keepers and commercials before you can talk to a real person. When you finally get to a person, they ask questions regarding the billings as if you know all about medical billing practices. If I could get a detailed reason as to why it was rejected in my email, I could call my DR. office and at least be prepared when I talk to the claims person. Zero star for customer service; except that one time (out of many) where a customer service representative was able to resolve several pending claims by ACCEPT ALL. I've had several FSA throughout the years, and this company by far is the worse. This is my second year, and I'm always feeling that I'm gong to lose my money because they don't accept claims. We have had Ameriflex for many years - I was always a cheerleader and recommended it to other employees in our company. In the past year, they have been absolutely horrible. I understand they need receipts to verify charges, but they don't even look at the entire receipt and decline without fully looking at the information they have. I have had to call and talk to their claims department more times in the past few months than the entire time I have used Ameriflex in the past 10 years. Routine co-pays should not need to be verified, yet, they need receipts too - then don't fully look and them and reject. Their customer service/claims will tell you one thing, but later find out it didn't happen. It has become very frustrating to deal with Ameriflex and their incompetence. read more

Ameriflex is really frustrating to deal with. I feel like it's run by 2 people in a garage. They are so technologically primitive. Their website has no online options whatsoever except transaction details. I have to submit everything via email, which means scanning all my claims into pdf format, then sending it to them via email. The processing takes FOREVER. At least 5 business days for claims to get processed, if it ever does. On few occasions, I have had to re-submit my claim because I waited over a week to get my original claim processed, which they never did. They obviously do not care about the customer's time. They claim to process claims within 5-7 days. What kind of a time period is that in this day and age when it concerns money? Then it takes another 3-4 days to get your money deposited in your account. Also, I don't know if this is federal policy but they will not allow you to claim the $5,000 max FSA limit as quickly as you spend it. They will deduct an evenly distributed amount from your pay every pay period for the entire year. So even if you spend $800 a month on day care, you will only be able to claim a fraction of that every pay period. Update: I have looked at past claims and how long AmeriFlex has taken to approve my claims. I found that the first 9 weeks after I joined the program, they processed my claim on average in 5 days(business and wknd). Now they are averaging 9 days, the last 2 claims taking 11 days. Every claim is for the same source with the same $ amounts. Update 2: To be fair, Ameriflex's service seems to have improved since last Xmas. Transactions are processed in a timely manner (3-4 days). I hope they keep it up through the holiday season. read more

I completely agree with other's sentiments about Ameriflex. I scrupulously collect receipts and scan/upload with all the requirements and I have been denied all claims but one. For the claim that was not denied, I have never received the funds. They said there was a problem with my direct deposit so they mailed a check, which is mysteriously lost in the mail for 2 weeks. When calling to address this, the manager told me to give it 2-3 weeks to receive the check. It seems the company is more interested in keeping you from your money than from assisting you in the facilitation of a Spending Account. They shamelessly tout their affiliation with the FSA store on every page. Too bad this is the FSA through our employer. Never again. read more

My company just moved over to AmeriFlex from another TPA for 1/1/2012 for both FSA and COBRA. I can honestly say everything about the AmeriFlex product offering has been fantastic. Claims processing has been quick, the website (while a little dated but they tell me they will have a new website out by the end of the 1st quarter) is leaps and bounds over our previous TPA, and the compliance resources they provide are amazing. We had an internal compliance question that our previous TPA did not even know where to begin. In contrast, AmeriFlex brought in the head of their internal compliance department to research the issue (turns out he is a well respected ERISA attorney!). AmeriFlex is by the book and I feel very comfortable that they are keeping our plan in the good graces of the government but at the same time they work to provide quality services to the individual participants. For the other posts that have been extremely negative I want to ask what other experiences have you had with other TPAs? Being a plan administrator for a large company I know there are a ton of federal regulations that must be considered when processing these plans and what might be perceived as a 'negative' or a 'bad' experience might in fact be the process dictated by the government? Or put another way if you are able to buy whatever you want anytime you want more then likely the TPA is not following the guidelines, which is what we discovered with our previous TPA. It does not matter that the TPA is hired to run the plan if the plan is out of compliance the employer and potentially the employees are liable. Therefore, I would recommend doing some serious due diligence before selecting a TPA provider because their negligence is your problem. In our due diligence process we hired an outside consultant to vet potential vendors and while AmeriFlex was not the 'cheapest' option they not only impressed us with their attention to detail before we signed but they have gone way beyond our expectations in execution. Absolutely impossible to work with. First, they "lost" $500 from a balance transfer and I had to call 3 times for them to "find" it. Any request for any sort of documentation elicits a response of "We don't do that." Customer service people are friendly but entirely useless. Another 30 minute phone call has once again left me frustrated. Where to begin. They send letters of denial with cryptic instructions like "submit form". The website fails to provide any meaningful information so you are forced to call. The supervisors say they will call you back because even they can't answer your questions and fail to return your call. I seriously heard a women's kids in the back ground and I'm supposed to give personal information like social security numbers to you while you are sitting at home?? I wish we had a different FSA provider. They rejected 2 receipts that were legible, then made me fill out the whole claim forms again instead of just asking for new receipts. They have a "recurring reimbursement" option which says just send a letter from the provider for the whole school year and they will automatically reimburse the same amount each week, which sounds great, but when I sent the letter from my after school provider they lost that... read more
