Beware, Do not use AmeriGas!! They charge double for propane, transfer you from person to person when calling, put you on hold for hours, & are very rude. They charge you to repair the gage on there tanks ($300.00), take multiple payments out of your credit card ( for one delivery), & you have to fight them to have the tank removed ( they also charge $300.00 for that) & will not refund your money for the propane left in the tank. read more

I started service with Amerigas in 2022. I requested a 500lb tank and they assured me I only needed 325lb tank for a 2800 sq ft home - originally propane on furnace and stove however due to propane use we converted our stove to electric so now just furnace use. Last year, I reached out and had to order propane 12/21, 01/17 and 02/23 - of course they can only deliver 80% full - but those amounts varied from 270lbs - 230lbs etc. Having the 3 deliveries it added up to a total of $3,000.00 for the propane + $300.00 emergency each time. The $3,000.00 payment has been made and a request for delivery was set 24 hours after the payment on 12/09. I requested an urgent delivery on 12/10 which was supposed to be delivered the same day or next - no call look online eta is 12/22 for urgent. So I call, they assured me they would correct and someone will reach out in 24hours - no call! I called again 12/12 and they told me I'd have to pay the $300 up front that is the reason that I did not get my delivery. Mind you no one ever told me I needed to pay the $300 up front when I scheduled the delivery Plus I have also received the $300 urgent delivery fee on my invoice. I told them online is doesn't require me to pay the fee up front so cancel the past delivery and I'll make one online. So I did, delivery scheduled for 12/12 - 12/13. Now, 12/14 53 Degrees in my house and I see have not received propane. I called the emergency line- and they told me they needed to transfer me to a manager however with it being Sunday no managers are in so i would have to be patient until Monday. It will be 9 degrees tonight. I have 3 children and 3 dogs. I paid my balance. I requested service on when they were available. I had an ETA for dates they were available. I will be reaching out to a lawyer regarding this issue. Not to mention, they placed my tank on center blocks that have settled and my tank is about to fall - which I have made aware to them. Oh and the customer service agent made sure to let me know he is hot where he is but is putting himself in my shoes? AMERIGAS is the absolute worst company! oh, and if you request a cancellation - 2 weeks for them to pick up your tank. I will 100% be taking all this info to a lawyer. read more

Called to discontinue service only to learn of the outrageous fee charged to the customer for Amerigas to retrieve their tank from my property. There have been fees and poor customer service at every turn with this company. I didn't choose this company, it was somehow transferred with purchase of the property. Do not call or use AmeriGas! I called on Feb 14th, giving my name when she answered, and asked their price on propane. I was asked if I had previously bought propane from them. I said I didn't remember but if I did, it was over 5 yrs ago. Before she would give me their price she insisted she needed to find my account but then told me my account was closed. I said when was it closed. I asked 3 times but my question was ignored and she kept asking me questions. Several times I said I just want your price on propane. Question ignored. She continued to ask me questions. My address, which I gave. I figured she needed to know if I was in their service area. Then she asked for my phone #, which I gave. When she asked for my email address I hung up on her. Afterwards I remembered calling them 2 yrs ago and was told I had to set up an account first before they would give me their price on propane. I ended up giving my name and address and remember arguing with them about the need to set up an account when I only wanted their price. I ended up hanging up on them. Then I started getting post cards in the mail from them. I received the last one in Dec 2024 offering .25 off per gallon. read more

AmeriGas is not a local company, they do not have local branches and you are relegated to doing business with them via their call centers in Africa, Charlotte, NC or Cleveland, OH. When I called the local number, 502 267-5452, to set up service they sure acted local. Now that they have rescheduled my delivery 5 times in the dead of winter and I'm down below 10%, no one is local and no one can tell me what is going on. They just reschedule the delivery which is subsequently cancelled. Do yourself a favor and find a local company with a local office you can speak to who gives a crap. These guys tank will be on my curb shortly for them to pick up and be out of my life. Terrible customer service. BTW, the local location, is locked with the following message, "Out of concern for the safety and health of our employees, customers and community, we have continued to restrict walk-in traffic at this location." But, this stuff is safe to pump into my home, or they've had way to many people come in fired up because of their awful business model. read more

It took 9 days to get gas delivered, then the tank was left unhooked, rendering the gas useless. I called and nobody could tell me why it wasn't hooked up or why nobody told me what was going on, they assured me someone would be there in 24 hours to hook up the line. Over a week later I have called everyday and get told it's going to be done before end of day and it's still not done. So disappointed that Amerigas bought out the local supplier for our cabin. Thanks to their incompetence w delivery we have completely run out of propane and if you call they won't give you a delivery day or time. We had a situation that needed help beyond what the folks who answer the phones could address and twice they put me on hold to "escalate" the problem to someone higher up although they wouldn't tell me who I would be speaking with and both times the line went dead after being on hold for 10-15 min. I ordered my gas December 8th and it was supposed to arrive by the 15th. It never came and was rescheduled several times until we finally ran out of propane overnight on Wednesday the 21st. I called all day to let them know we were getting lots of ice, snow, and negative temperatures the next day, our baby was sick and we needed our heat working. Plus, I told them we live down a very big hill and they would not be able to get their truck down here for at least a week after this weather came in. They told me different things every time I called, ranging from promising it would show up by 5, telling me they were on their way, and then that they wouldn't be able to make it until the next day. The ice, snow, and negative temperatures came that night and we were still without heat, it got down to 32 degrees in our house and our pipes froze. Luckily, a very nice delivery driver decided to try to come down on Christmas Eve, Saturday the 24th, so that at least we would have heat for Christmas. The truck got stuck, just like I told the call center that it would, but at least thanks to our delivery driver, Bryan, we now have heat. It's almost a week later and the truck is still stuck in our yard. It has been the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We are leaving Amerigas for a local company and telling everyone we know. read more

I spent over half an hour trying to order just 27 gallons of gas from these people for a tank buried in my side yard to service a small fireplace only. It had been 2 years since I ordered from them and I was told the gas would be $117.90 and there would be a $200 expedited charge for delivery within 72 hours and also a $140 charge for a safety assurance check before putting the gas in. That's $457.90 for 27 gallons ($16.96 per gal). I think not. Worse customer service company I have ever dealt with and will never deal with again. read more

This company has the worst customer service on the planet. We accidentally overpaid our bill (paid it twice) in March, 2020. After 4 phone calls, where we were assured that they were crediting our original credit card (only they didn't) and then were sending us a check (which we haven't seen), they are sitting on more than $1000 of our money. Awful company! I purchased a tank of gas from this company last year and when they delivered the gas, they only filled it up about 20% of the way. The delivery guy promised he'd be back to fill the rest up. He never returned. Spent over 500$ on gas and only received a fraction of what I paid for. Unfortunately, I had lost my receipt. I am writing this review today because the company has since billed me for a rental fee for the tank that was here when I started renting the home. I spoke to them about my situation. Would never recommend this company to anyone ever. I order propane every year in January and September. I called for a fill up at the beginning of September. For 20 years my purchase history shows I usually get 300 +/- gallons to fill up. My delivery was 35 gallons. When I called to express that it was impossible I only used 35 gallons during the coldest time of the year, I got nothing but the run around from them. My call log showed I have made a total of 31 calls from September 4th to November 19th. I was told 3 weeks ago that I needed to have my 500 gallon tank replaced, which is a buried tank btw. They said it would be at no cost to me. I have been rescheduled 3 times for that to be completed and no one ever showed up or called me. Now I'm told they would be here Monday to complete the order. Oh, I forgot to mention that I ran out of propane last Thursday (and I had stated my concern about that 3 weeks ago) and this morning it was 17 degrees out. I have a small space heater in my heater and 4 blankets on my bed. All I ever heard them say was their canned speech of how sorry they are but I felt I couldn't get these idiots to wake up and take the situation seriously! You may ask why don't I go with another company but Amerigas holds me hostage. I cannot go to another company. Long story in that one but believe me I have tried everything. We have been trying to get a propane tank from these people since MARCH of 2015 but have had no luck. They keep standing us up and then not rescheduling. I really like their prices, but I am DONE!
