Amici in Monroe is a solid casual dining spot, though it's definitely more Italian-American/American than authentic Italian. We visited on a Friday at 6 PM, and the place was packed--we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, so keep that in mind if you're planning to go during peak hours. Our server was absolutely lovely--so sweet and attentive, which made the wait and experience much more pleasant. The food was decent overall. I ordered the tomato basil soup with grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was the highlight--perfectly toasted and absolutely made for dipping. However, the soup itself was just average. It didn't taste like it was made with fresh tomatoes or basil, and the flavor was dominated by black pepper, which felt unnecessary and overpowered what should have been the star ingredients. The restaurant has a good selection of wine and cocktails, which is a nice touch. There was live music--two guys playing country and singing--which some people might enjoy, but it was very loud and not my cup of tea for dinner ambiance. I took my mom on February 10th to celebrate the memory of my father. I have been there numerous times and there is always something wrong. It won't happen again, I assure you. The only plus is that it is a beautiful space. The waitress didn't come to our table for at least 5 minutes and it took about 5 minutes to get drinks after that. We ordered onion rings for an appetizer. They looked burnt almost and the were lacking the actual onion. It was just fried dough. We ate a few, but they were just awful. When the waitress came back, she asked if we were done and I said "yes, because they sucked and we don't want fried dough with no onions!" Pizza was fine. Got the bill. I was very surprised that she didn't take off the onion rings (as a former waitress, I would have DEFINITELY done that) and I was shocked that my mom's fountain diet coke was $3.50! WTF? 1 star because the seating was fast. Our order consisted of 6 wings, a small pepperoni pizza, glass of wine and a coke. We got the wings and drinks in a reasonable amount of time, but after more than a hour wait for a small pizza, we were still waiting. We were told they had a large catering order to fill. The food was ok. Really nothing to write home about. The issue I had was the price. They have changed the menu to a brunch menu and jacked up the prices to the point I won't go back. We just wanted a slice and a salad. We ordered a salad and split it and got two slices and two drinks. I almost spit the Diet Coke out when I saw the $29 bill. My slice was 8.50 really! I put black olives and Italian sausage on it that added 4.50 to the price. Seems a bit steep since the slice was 4. They offered no explanation just a shoulder shrug and eye roll, like I was putting them out by asking why so much. If this is their new norm I want no part of it. Today was the second time is a row that our salad did not come with the bread that is listed in the menu. When I placed the order I specifically said that I wanted to make sure the bread was there this time. I was assured it would be. When I get there to pick it up, I asked- did you check my salad for the bread and was told- yes ma'am. I get home- no bread. I called them and they were like- well usually when that happens they either forgot or we ran out. Really?? Then she said- I don't really know what I can do... Ok- maybe what I'll do is go to Covington for my pizza needs. If dining in- I'd recommend Monroe because you can quality check for yourself. For carry out- maybe not. Amici, Monroe -- same stuff, different location. We had hoped that the service and overall experience of Amici would improve since they moved to a new location. In fairness, the new location is nice, more parking, and the restaurant is much cleaner. That's the good part. We joined another couple for lunch, noon on a cloudy Wednesday. I had to ask the waitress twice for a draft beer menu -- no worries. I ordered a burger with bacon, and my companion ordered a slice of Summer in Turin pizza with a side salad. Everyone's meals came out except mine. The other couple had to ask for some meatballs for their daughter because their three-year-old noticed that her "spaghetti and meatballs" had no meatballs. We inquired to the food runner and the waitress about my missing burger and waited. As everyone at the table finished their meals, the waitress quietly told me that they had just put the burger on the grill. Since I didn't want to inconvenience my guests, I told her to put it in a to-go box. Much later, as the three-year-old was ready to go, my burger arrived with our check. In all, the Summer in Turin Pizza had no fresh basil, as described in the menu, and I had to eat my eleven-dollar hamburger at home with soggy fries. As I mentioned, the spaghetti and meatballs had no meatballs, and everything seemed overpriced, based on what we got ($3 for a soft drink for example). Amici's has never been a five-star dining experience -- we never expected it to be. But when I pay $11 for a hamburger, I'd rather eat it with my guests in the restaurant than cold at home. If a menu lists ingredients, the item should come complete with those ingredients. I know that the post-COVID food service world is experiencing shortages and delivery issues, but notify guests if menu items aren't available, don't try to slip it past them. If an entire meal is forgotten, offer to comp the meal. Simple professional customer service would help Amici Monroe go a long way. I'm giving two stars because the location is nice and clean, and my companion said that the best part of her lunch was the blue-cheese dressing. My five-dollar beer that I had to ask twice about was pretty good too. We were certainly not encouraged to return though. read more

We rented the upstairs room for a private event in October 2020. The staff followed cdc guidelines. Everything was on time, our server was phenomenal and the food / beverage was great. We had buffalo chicken dip, spinach dip, salads, a variety of pizzas, and canolis, with an open bar. Roughly 40 people (which was more than expected). The only thing I can offer for improvement: It was a bit too warm inside the room, they did bring in fans, that helped, but it was still uncomfortable. All in all, I would go back. When we visited Amici this past Tuesday, there was a $5 burger special. Sadly I was overcharged, but it's no deal. I just wanted to put this out there to make sure you check the prices charged to ensure its accuracy. The burger was delish as I took a mini bite. The patty was succulent and somewhat large. It comes with a side order of either fries or a pasta salad. I picked the pasta salad for the date, but it turned out to be drenched in vinaigrette so it wasn't as appetizing as we'd thought. I had the homemade Alfredo. This dish just comes with the pasta and pie bread (something like crispy pita bread), but you can had a side order of meat for $3. The portion size was huge so it was pretty filling without the side meat. Overall, a very cute and cozy place to visit. The staff was super friendly and sweet. I had the tortellini. It was good but don't expect to take home leftovers. The tortellini is served with an embarrassing serving of 'bread'. A salad does not come with the meal. It is $3 extra.
