Was strolling downtown looking at the really cute area, with all the lights on the trees and like cute petite shops. When I when inside Amici's I thought I was going to have a great time because of the beautiful interior. It was fascinating how they were able to make an every day family restaurant look romantic and vibey. Probably the dimly lit atmosphere and warmth of the restaurant! I ordered the small baked penne parmigiana with eggplant (a vegetarian option), and cheesy garlic bread (a vegetarian option too). I found the baked penne parmigiana with eggplant really bland. I really needed the salt and pepper around. Sauce was the perfect amount, but there was not enough eggplant. I found at most 3 slices in my bowl. I particularly liked the eggplant; I liked its soft texture, but not to the point where it's mushy. (Many restaurants make their eggplant mushy) From the bowl, I thought "this is actually smaller than I thought", but actually, it was surprising how it was pretty filling! When I finished it, boy I was STUFFED! The cheesy garlic bread was also pretty mediocre. Things to point out are that there wasn't enough garlic aroma. More just cheesy bread. Amount of cheese was good though. The staff weren't particularly friendly, and weren't too attentive. Took a while to call them over when I needed a new fork. Didn't have a terrible experience, but might not plan another visit. read more

We've been to Amici's in Dublin and one of their other locations. The one in Menlo Park was clean and pretty large. They offer both inside and outside dining options. We tried their Detroit Style Pizza and it was pretty darn good. We had a Full Caesar Salad that we shared and they offer anchovies if you like them. I do but my wife doesn't so I asked for them on the side. Service was excellent. read more

Because we love Amici's in San Mateo we figured we would love Amici's in Menlo Park. YES! Wonderful, greet-you-at-the-door service. Quick set-up for a table for six. Lovely dining room with tables for all size groups. There was even a 10-lady group on the front porch, in front of the fireplace, that got super good service. Good food served by gracious servers who stayed on top of empty plates. I noticed so many families coming in, at the end of their day, with children, for a quick, delicious, easy dinner. Everyone was welcome. Street parking and parking lots behind the restaurant. read more

I tried the chicken wings and cesar salad and now I understand what all the talk is about. I couldn't tell if the wings were baked or fried. If they were fried, it was done without any batter but they were seasoned well. But that salad!!! I don't know what type of dressing they use, but it was amazingly delicious! Pizza was good. Ordered online and it told me to come in 30 minutes for pick up. When I got there the pizza was in the warmer and the pizza was only just warm. A bit on the expensive side for a pizza but great ingredients and choices so it's worth it. I forgot to mention the tuxedo cake is delicious! Not too sweet! Perfect to share or gobble up yourself! Amici's had become a weekly staple for our vegetarian, plant based family. Their kale and quinoa salad was delicious and their vegan orecchiette pasta dish with beyond meat was a favorite of ours. When we came in today to see both of these menu items gone, and pizza and pasta options with beyond meat no longer exist... we were all so disappointed. Until now, it was 5 stars for us. Now we will have to fill in the rotation with some place else.... Unless maybe they will consider a separate vegetarian menu or bringing back these items? Crossing my fingers. read more

Their door says they open at 11:30am but they were open at 11am. We came with our toddler and this place is very family friendly. Highchairs, coloring sheet with designated children menu. We ordered a full not family salad - good. We ordered garlic bread - I liked it. unfortunately, there were herbs on top my toddler did not appreciate. We ordered a pizza- it was large (you can pick different sizes) We all shared. Very generous with toppings here. We had a good time. We are actually come back to Menlo Park in a couple weeks so will probably return. read more

I'm truly disappointed because of the price paid for the pizza and it being gross. Red sauce does not go on BBQ chicken pizza. I'm not sure why this place is dinged--every visit we've had here has been great--albeit it can be slow at times. But the pizza is worth it. This is the place that I've found the closest to NY style pizza: the dough is thin (could be crispier) but it's the flavor that is their key. They have a yeast punch that always reminds me of NY pizza. I've traveled alot to the east coast and have eaten a ton of pizza there. Besides the quintessential cheese pizza, their second best is the almighty Milano pizza. This one is like a sacred pizza--roasted soft garlic with roasted potatoes and chunks of thick cooked bacon makes for an unbelievably tasty pizza. Just order this and the cheese! Their lemon roasted chicken wings are also killer. I request a handful of mild ones for the kids and super hot for me. Love these! read more

3.5 stars because the food was pretty good but trying to get a table was really disorganized and confusing. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was already a line around the host table but there was no host or anyone taking down names. After waiting 15 mins and still no host or anyone really acknowledging the line of people waiting, we asked the people in front of us if they were waiting to put their names down for a table or if they had already done so. Apparently everyone was waiting for the host so they could get a table. No one came so we eventually flagged down a waiter who helped us and he ended up being our waiter. He was very attentive and friendly. For starters, we got the Flame Roasted Lemon Chicken Wings and Kale and Quinoa Salad. Highly recommend the chicken wings, they were really good. They seated us outside and never checked on us after we ordered salads. Then they wouldn't bring us bread because we didn't order anything else but they never came to take our order so we couldn't order anything else! This restaurant always makes me feel like I need to bring more people, in the best way. Walking in, you are met with a large open space that encourages a sit down with all of your loved ones. The inner patio area is fantastic for an early lunch or a more intimate dinner while the larger interior space is more about the family event. Every pasta we have tried has been terrific and the portioning is done very well. Being able to order a 1-2 person order or a family size dish is terrific. The pizzas are some of the best I've found in the area, with a delicious light and slightly tangy sourdough crust. This is one of our favorite spots to order from and to sit down at, though the prices are a bit steep. The only thing keeping from the full 5-stars is the price. This may be my favorite pizza in the area, but at ~$35-$40 for a large pie I'll happily settle for 2nd or 3rd best at the more affordable rates. The staff is very cordial, albeit a bit distracted at times. But every return to the table we are provided with everything we need, and we are always met with a lovely upbeat attitude. read more

We have gone to a few Amici's over the past 6-7 yrs, starting with the one in Cupertino on DeAnza which closed although it was a beautiful, modern, fresh and new space with a great brick pizza oven. It was always bustling with plenty of customers from families, to date-night couples, to after game celebrations for kids sports teams. We were so disappointed , but we went to the Mt View location on Castro Street, and had the same great experience: they have the best pizza around, great crust, great sauce, great pasta dishes, delicious salads, and as always, great service and warm and friendly servers whom we got to know by name. ...but they also closed. (Location not great maybe.) So now we have been to the Menlo Park location, and it also has the BEST pizza around- thin crust , doughy edge, great cheese and sauce and many topping choices, but we love their Amici's own Italian sausage topping, the cheese is great quality and flavor, sauce is tops. . We've always loved their spinach & roasted red pepper salad with feta & pine nuts at all locations, but also love their Amici's Caesar. We thought we'd take advantage of their Wed half price pasta night recently -we ordered the eggplant parmigiano and linguini and clams. They have the same great sauce, pasta always cooked to perfection, but the linguini and clams doesn't compare to my homemade: not much wine in the "white wine sauce" (had a shot maybe?) You need to reduce a cup ,plenty of parsley, a little butter, and not sooo much olive oil. Way too much ! And not nearly enough canned chopped clams which have to be of good quality like Bar Harbor brand.) But there are plenty of other pasta dishes like baked lasagne, fettucini Alfredo, spaghetti and meatballs (very good!) for another day. The place was bustling and abuzz with activity- it's a little noisy there due to the clanging and clatter going on in the open kitchen, and it draws a lot of families, so kids and grandparents. It's not always easy to find thin crust pizza, especially not thin crust pizza that is crispy on the bottom! There was a lot of families when we went, and overall the restaurant is lively and warm. Excellent Pizza! As someone who grew up in the NYC area Amici's certainly comes close. I've been here quite a few time over the past 2 years and most recently dined in last night. As it relates to the the food, the pizza is always excellent and is the closest thing I can get to NY pizza here in the Bay area. Other must have/try items when dining in are the flame roasted lemon wings and the Arnold Palmer for a drink. The service however can be hit or miss. On one hand, there are times where i've gone and have had great service where our waiter was attentive, came to check in on us regularly, and helpful making menu recommendations. While there are other times where our food has come late without communication or where the line at the entrance to get a table was completely ignored for 10+ minutes before having to flag down a waiter ourselves to get a table. read more

Overall this pizza place makes tasty pizza and a whole lot of good options! My girlfriend was able to get her dairy free (goat cheese) Veneto pizza which she would rate 5 star. The mini Pizzas are a perfect portion for a singular person. Then the rest of the group split a large Philly pizza, which we thoroughly enjoyed, although 2 of us had a slight stomach ache that we could only attribute to that as we didn't eat anything else out of the ordinary that night. This place can't decide what it wants to be: Is it cheap, fast pizza? Pizza is similar quality to the chains but more expensive. Food also takes a while, not as fast as chains. Personal pizzas hit the spot when you're hangry. I walked in with urgency, too (with the intention to order, eat and leave within 25 minutes). My server, Donald, was outstanding and he read me well by keeping my table two steps ahead so I could leave on time. I tried the menu's veggie pizza however the pre-selected veggies for this pizza did not turn out how I like my veggie pizzas.
