We order regularly and, like any long-time customer, we've occasionally received a pizza that wasn't as hot as expected or may have been slightly overcooked. We've never complained, requested discounts, or made an issue out of minor inconveniences because we understand that mistakes happen. Unfortunately, my recent experience was different--not because Jenny forgot to place my order, but because of how the situation was handled. I placed an order and was told it would arrive within 45-50 minutes. After more than an hour and fifteen minutes had passed with no pizza, no delivery update, and no communication, I called the store. Initially, I was told the store was closed and no longer accepting calls, but I insisted on speaking with someone because I had a confirmed order and two young children waiting for dinner. When I finally spoke with the store manager, Jenny, I was informed that my order had been canceled. What was most frustrating was that no one had contacted me to let me know. We live within the delivery area and have ordered from this location many times without issue. When I asked why no one had notified me, Jenny claimed she had called multiple times and left a voicemail. However, I had no missed calls and no voicemail messages. Rather than trying to resolve the situation, she became dismissive, argumentative, and ultimately hung up on me. As a customer, I wasn't looking for special treatment. I simply wanted honest communication and a solution. Being told information that did not match my phone records and then having the conversation ended abruptly was both unprofessional and disappointing. What concerns me most is the lack of leadership displayed throughout this interaction. Management is about much more than showing up on time or completing daily tasks. Effective leaders demonstrate accountability, professionalism, empathy, communication, and the ability to de-escalate difficult situations. Customer-facing management positions require strong interpersonal skills, especially when handling frustrated customers. In this case, those qualities were noticeably absent. On another day I called back to discuss the incident and was told by Jenny (just my luck) that the other manager, Carmen, had been informed of the situation... she was so nonchalant about it. Despite that, no one ever reached out to me to follow up, address the concerns, or apologize. For a customer who has supported this location for over two decades, the lack of ownership and follow-through was extremely disappointing. Mistakes happen. Orders get delayed, deliveries fall through, and unforeseen issues arise. What defines a business is how those situations are handled. Unfortunately, this experience reflected poor communication, poor customer service, and a concerning lack of leadership from management. I met with a small social group to see the Round Table place that started the chain. When walking in, it's quaint and clean and at the back you can see a decent size arcade and the salad bar. There is a room to the right reserved parties and it had large screen tv, pool table, table top arcade and a knight armor standing by the door as it greets you walking in. I remember this type of setting was great for college hangouts and watching sports. For families, it's the arcade. I decided on the salad bar as it was an old time favorite when I was a teenager. The lettuce wasn't fresh but there was a variety of fixings with salad dressing to choose from. The rest shared on the largest King Arthur pizza that they are known for and did a 50/50 which the other half was veggie. They said the pizza was good. The family and I really enjoyed this location and the food provided as our post thanksgiving/black Friday dinner. I have a ver picky eater for a child so when pizza was brought up they got a big smile and said yes please. My husband took me here as a surprise, because he knows I love this kind of stuff. The building is fair sized, it's classic. They sell t-shirts saying it's the original Round Table, and there is a wall with articles and awards of the original owner. We sat in the main room, only because there was a large party in the banquet room, we didn't want to disturb their party. The banquet room has a mini waterfall, and a large flat screen TV. This is, by far, our favorite pizza place. The quality of the ingredients in the pizza blows past other chain restaurants and is as good if not better than most independent pizza joints. On top of how good the food is, the staff is exceptional! We order from them every Wednesday night and they always remember us by name and remember our usual order. They've even saved me several times knowing that my son loves their twists and if I forget to order them, will ask if Dante doesn't want them this time around. When I realize I forgot, they're always happy to get an order of them started for me. I'm so grateful for that level of detail. The restaurant is also always impeccably clean. I am giving them a three because I am a Round Table Pizza fan, but yesterday I ordered a half combo half garlic chicken gourmet large pizza. I ate a few slices and was happy to have left over this morning. I heat up a slice start chowing down on it and bam I see a hair on the crust. Bob, the owner/manager/son of the founder made sure there were many delicious pizzas to choose from (all you can eat of the pizza and salad bar for a fixed price). Of course, you can order pizza at the counter to take with you, or have it delivered if you are within the delivery area. I was unhappy to hear that a tree trimming truck from the city of Menlo Park parked and blocked their entire parking area for two hours last Friday. We've always been customers of Round Table and to this specific location we have always thrown parties here in the banquet room. We've always had a good experience. But this day was exceptionally great. Today was my daughter's 1st birthday and the manger (Omar I believe) was very friendly and helpful as well as the other staff. They allowed us to come in early and stay later as no one else had reserved the room. We really had an awesome time and the food was great! One of the ingredients for this evening's dinner had passed its prime in the fridge and nothing else was thawed, so we called out for pizza. It took 45 minutes to arrive (ordered at 7:30 pm, arrived at 8:15pm), there was much confusion on the phone and it took a little while to get the order right. On the plus size, it arrived as ordered. Not hot, but warm at the least. However for $53, I would have expected the pizza to at least be hot. Also, they asked for the 3-digit v-code on the back of my credit card. The code that every bank I've ever had has advised me to never give out over the phone.
